Part 13 ~ Brothers

As he opened the door, Robert smiled openly at his brother.

"Well this is a pleasant surprise."

"What? I can't come and visit my brother?"

"Anytime," Robert smiled as he closed the door. "Do you want something to drink or eat. I think I have half of a tuna sandwich in the refrigerator."

"How about a beer?

"I think I can find one," Robert said as he walked to the small refrigerator.

"You know," Mac said as he looked around the room. "You can always come and stay with me while you recoup. This place must be costing you a fortune."

"No offense, but I kind of like my privacy. Plus, Jax gave me a discounted rate. My original plan was to stay a few weeks and then head back to Australia, but," Robert paused. "I'm thinking of staying in town for a while."

"A while? What does that mean? A week? Two weeks?"

Robert shrugged as he handed Mac a beer. "Who knows, but I think it will be long enough that I'm looking into renting an apartment."

"Ahhh, and what brings about this longing to stay in Port Charles?"

"Not so much what but who...."

"Ok, this just got interesting." Mac sat on the couch. He could tell that Robert wanted to talk. By the time Robert told him about Kelly, Mac was on his second beer. "You sound really fond of her."

"I am," Robert confirmed. "She's so vibrant, confident, and sexy. She enjoys every minute of every day. I enjoy the lack of plans and just living in the moment."

"It sounds as if she makes you very happy, but in your living in the moment life, can you reserve time for your family? I'm giving a dinner party, and I would love for you to bring Kelly."

"Dinner party, huh? And what is the occasion?"

"You'll have to come and find out." Mac smiled. They spent the rest of the afternoon talking sports and reviewing the available apartments in Port Charles. It would be great to have his brother close by, Mac thought. His life was changing so rapidly that Mac valued his relationship with Robert. As fate would have it, this brotherly bond would help them make some of the toughest decisions of their lives.
