"Spring Flowers"
Part 4 ~ Nurses' Station
by Kimberly
10/4/08

Tracy rushed to the nurses' station. As she paused to catch her breath, Epiphany eyed her wearily.

"Can I help you, Ms. Quartermaine?"

"Yes, I'm looking for Nurse Weber."

"I'm sorry, but she's gone for the day. Is there something I can do for you?"

"Yes, you can give me her address."

"I'm sorry, but it is against Human Resource policy to release personal information."

"Oh, give me a break," Tracy sneered. "It's not as if I'm a stranger. I sit on the Board of Directors."

"I know exactly where you sit," Epiphany barked. "But it is still HR policy not to release employee personal information."

"If you don't give me that address, I will report you to your superiors."

Epiphany picked up the phone receiver and held it out to Tracy. "Would you like me to dial?" she said.

"What in the world is going on here?" Monica asked as she walked upon the scene. "I can hear you in the locker room."

"It seems as if your sister-in-law wants personal information about one of the nurses. I was trying to explain that divulging personal info was against HR policy." Epiphany placed the phone back into the cradle.

Before Tracy could respond, Monica grabbed her elbow and led her to the waiting area.

"Tracy, what is going on? Do you really want to put the hospital in a position to be sued?"

"I need Elizabeth Weber's address. No big deal."

"No big deal?" Monica repeated. "That information is confidential. That information can only be given to immediate family in the event of an emergency."

"Well this is an emergency," Tracy shouted. "And since she is going to marry your son, which makes us family."

"What?!"

"I know that you could care less about what happens to Jason but it seems as if Nurse Webber is about to have full access to his Quartermaine trust fund."

Monica shook her head in confusion. "I didn't even know they were dating."

"Yeah well..."Tracy paused to look Monica in the eye. "There seems to be a lot that you don't know. But right now Jason must not get married without a prenuptial agreement. Seeing that you haven't spoken to him since Emily's death, I guess I'll have to make sure that happens."

Without waiting for a response, Tracy turned and hurried down the hall. As Monica watched Tracy turn the corner, she decided it was time to find out what was happening with her family.

As Nikolas walked out of the elevator, Tracy rushed in. Without any acknowledgement of Nikolas, Tracy frantically pressed the elevator button that would take her to the parking lot.

"Mr. Cassadine, how can I help you?" Epiphany asked as Nikolas neared the nurses' station.

"I'm looking for Dr. Winters. I'm hoping that she can see me today."

"Dr. Winters is working at Shadybrook today. She is coming to the hospital tomorrow, but her schedule is all booked. Dr. Phelps does have room in his schedule. Would you like me to make an appointment with Dr. Phelps?"

"No." Nikolas shook his head slightly. He knew Lainey and was impressed by the way she cared for his mother. "Please schedule me when she becomes available."

Although Nikolas' voice was calm, Epiphany could see that he was on the edge of exhaustion.

"Why don't I call her and see if she can squeeze you into her schedule by the end of the week." Epiphany offered.

"Thank you. Can you call me with a date and time for my appointment?"

Epiphany nodded in response and watched Nikolas lean against the pillar as he waited for the elevator. Out of the corner of her eye, Epiphany watched Monica make an exit down the staircase as Maxie turned the corner with a bouquet of pink roses for her cousin.

From the nurses' station, Epiphany had a clear view of the entire floor. Sometimes she wondered if that was a bad thing.
