"Murder, Marriage, and Mayhem"
Part 10 ~ Til Death

The path to the church at the edge of the woods was dark and foreboding. Patrick reached for Robin's hand. Entwining his fingers with hers, he gently nudged her closer to him. At the fork in the road, they made a right. The path became narrow, and they found themselves walking in a single file. Patrick was just about to suggest that they turn back when they came across a stunning clearing. White lights in the shape of stars were sprinkled across the tree tops giving the illusion that heaven was coming to the wedding. White lights illuminated the remaining path to the tiny church and white rose petals danced quietly at the edge of the steps.

Milo and Max were doing double duty as bodyguards and greeters. As they spotted Patrick and Robin, they smiled brightly and ushered them into the secluded church. Although the church was empty, Spinelli stood at the altar ready to do his duty as the best man. Dressed in a black tux, Spinelli took his place once Robin and Patrick took their seats.

Right on queue, Jason entered from the back room and walked to the top of the altar to face the priest. For the first time in his life, he looked comfortable in his grey tux and white tie.

As the wedding march started, all eyes went to the back of the church. Patrick and Robin chuckled as they watched Jake and Cam walk down the aisle in their matching black tuxes. Robin had no doubt that Cam and Jake would be breaking many hearts when they were older. When Cam saw her, he smiled and blurted, "We're getting married!"  When they reached the altar, Cam stood by Jason's side, while Jake reached out his arms. In one swift motion, Jason lifted the toddler in his arms. Wrapping his tiny arms around his father's neck, Jake turned to watch his mother walk down the aisle.

Beautiful was a weak word to describe Elizabeth. Dressed in a pale grey sleeveless gown with a white sash fitted across her tiny waist, Elizabeth slowly made her way down the aisle. Her hair was pulled over to one side, cascading a myriad of ringlets down her bare shoulder. As she neared the altar, Jason reached out his hand to her. That tiny gesture brought tears to Robin's eyes. Robin was so happy that two of her closest friends would not only find love, but they would find love with each other.

To Patrick's surprise the marriage ceremony was uneventful and ended without mayhem. After all of the legal documents were signed, Spinelli opened the champagne and led the small group to an array of fruit and cheeses. Time passed quickly as the group fell into a comfortable conversation. It wasn't until Robin snuggled up against a sleeping Patrick that she realized that love is truly a blessing, and she would have to make sure that she never took it for granted.
