"Accidental Autumn"

Robin glanced at the hospital clock. It had been hours since she spoke to Lainey. Normally, no news was good news, but Robin couldn't help but feel anxious. If Ian was using experimental drugs on Emily, there would be no telling what kind of state Emily would be in when they found her. Although it was her day off, Robin wanted to be at the hospital. When Lainey called, Robin wanted to have access to the medical database.

"Did Lainey call yet?" Liz questioned. Still dressed in operating scrubs, Robin could tell that Liz rushed from surgery to get an update.

"Not yet. Maybe they missed Ian again."

"I hope not," Liz said as she started to untie the operating gown. "It sounded as if they were so close."

"Well if anyone wants to know, the surgery was a success," Patrick said as he walked towards Liz and Robin. "I thought you took the day off to help Mac with his dinner party?"

"I did," Robin replied, "but I'm waiting on a call from Lainey."

"Ahh," Patrick murmured. The thought of Emily being alive sounded farfetched, but he didn't want to dash Robin's hopes. "Do you want me to call Mac and tell him that we can't make it?"

"No, no. If you could just pick Emma up from the babysitter and take her over to Mac's, that would be great. I just want to hang around a little longer."

"Ok," he said as he kissed her cheek and headed toward the locker room.

"And don't forget to pick up dessert. You promised Mac that you'd bring something." Robin shouted after him.

"I never pegged Mac as the entertaining type." Liz said. Robin confided in Liz that she wasn't sure why Mac decided to have this dinner party. Besides the fact that Mac said he had an announcement to make, Robin suspected that Mac was trying to smooth things out between her and her father. While they waited for Lainey's call, Robin told Liz about Kelly dating Robert. Before she could tell Liz about her argument with Kelly, her cell phone rang. Looking at the caller ID, Robin announced that it was Lainey. As she rushed into an empty office, she answered Lainey's call using the speaker option so that Liz could join in the conversation.

"Lainey?"

"Robin." After a long pause, Lainey repeated herself, "Robin."

"What's wrong? What's happened?"

"We..." Lainey paused.

"Lainey, this is Liz. Did you find Emily? Is she ok?" Liz asked. When Lainey didn't reply, Liz and Robin started to fear the worst. Robin reached out to grip Liz's hand. They had both prayed that Emily would be found safe. What if they found her in a horrible condition or dead? Would they be able to cope with Emily's death a second time?

"We didn't find Emily." Lainey said quickly "We found Georgie."

"What?" Liz and Robin said at the same time. The story rushed from Lainey's lips. When she finished the story, Robin burst into tears. As Liz hugged her, Robin couldn't help but feel guilty that she was so happy while Emily could still be out there somewhere.

Georgie, sweet Georgie. Her death had been a crippling blow to those who loved her. They all struggled to understand how someone so sweet could be taken away from them so violently. 

"Is she ok?" Robin asked between sobs.

"Yes, Spinelli is sitting with her. She doesn't seem to recognize anyone else. We're going to take her back to the hotel. Jason has called the pilot. We'll be flying home as soon as we can. Can you contact Mac and let him know that we'll be bringing her straight to General Hospital?"

"Oh my God. I don't even know what to tell Mac," Robin blurted.

"Tell him that he's been blessed."
