"Accidental Autumn"
Part 1 ~ Invitation

"Hi, Daddy," Tracy said as Edward walked into the living room. "How was your doctor's visit?"

"Everything is fine. I'm as fit as a fiddle." Pouring himself a glass of orange juice, he looked at Tracy suspiciously. "I ran into Liz today."

"Really? Let me guess. She's already trying to get an advance on the Quartermaine trust fund," Tracy quipped.

"Actually, she was wondering why we did not respond to the wedding invitation. She said that she mailed it a couple of weeks ago. Did you happen to see it?"

"No," Tracy lied. The sight of the invitation made her stomach turn. She knew that Alice would pull it out of the trash, so Tracy took delight in lighting a match and watching it burn. Her plans to stop the wedding were not going well. There weren't many people that wanted to challenge Jason. Lucky proved to be worthless and when she tried to find Sam, she was unsuccessful. She needed to find someone who hated the thought of Liz and Jason together. A name crept up on the tip of her tongue and then vanished quickly. She knew there was someone out there who would help her separate Jason and Liz.

"I did tell Liz that you would be there, and I am expecting you to be on your best behavior."

"Of course," Tracy said sweetly. "I wouldn't miss this for the world."

"Good. You can tell her yourself. We have a hospital board meeting this afternoon. You can behave like a Quartermaine and welcome her into the family."

Tracy didn't respond as she walked to her bedroom. Her father's request would go up in flames just like that useless wedding invitation.

Carly sat impatiently on the couch as she watched Jax scurry from room to room.

"Jax, my doctor's appointment is in 30 minutes. What are you looking for?"

"I could have sworn that I put the RSVP for Jason's wedding on the dining room table," he hesitated as he rifled through a stack of mail. "I thought I would give it to Liz since we're headed to the hospital. Have you seen it?"

"No," she lied. As she watched Jax dash to the dining room, she knew he would never find it. The invitation was torn to pieces and flushed down the toilet. There was no point in responding. Once she had the baby, she would make sure that Jason never went through with that wedding. "You don't even know if Liz is working today. Plus," she whined, "I'm really starting to feel uncomfortable. Can we go now?"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Jax agreed as his eyes scanned the room, again. "I'll find it when we get back."

Carly smiled at Jax as he helped her stand. She knew that in a few weeks, Jax would be playing the proud father and Jason's wedding plans would be just a bad memory.
