Part 7 ~ Gossip Girls

"Please tell me this is a joke." Robin, waving Carly's dinner invitation, entered Elizabeth's living room.

"It was either that or a bachelor party for Jason," Liz chuckled. "I'm sure her intentions are good."

"Carly's intentions are never good," Robin taunted.

"Well, it seems to be very important to her, and if it's important to her...."

"It's important to Jason," Robin finished.

They sat on the couch, their feet tucked beneath them as they gossiped like eager high school friends. They chatted about the latest hospital gossip, kids, and family. Robin filled Liz in on Mac's wedding and Georgie's progress, but when she broached the subject of her father, Robin's words turned sour.

"I'm worried about him. It is obvious that my dad has fallen in love with Kelly."

"Is that a bad thing?" Liz asked.

"Come on," Robin reminded her. "We've seen Kelly in action. My dad is just a passing fancy. As soon as she comes across a more appealing boy toy, she's going to drop him like a bad habit."

"They've been seeing each other for how long now? Maybe Kelly is ready to settle down. Everyone is entitled to change." Liz smiled at Robin warmly.

"Just because you found your fairytale doesn't mean that my dad will."

Wanting to keep the mood happy, Liz changed the subject. "When you come to the dinner, you will be able to see Nikolas and Emily"

"Really! Is she ready for social situations? Georgie's still shy around anyone but family."

"The last time I talked to Nik, he said that she was eager to get out. It seems that the Quatermaines are smothering her with attention."

"I can't say that I blame them. It is a surreal experience." Robin leaned her head against one of the couch pillows. "The ability to have a second chance with someone that you thought was gone forever is hard to comprehend."

"I can't imagine," Liz said not realizing that one day she would have to.
