"Spring Flowers"
Part 3 ~ Ask
by Kimberly
9/7/08

"She's been sleeping for two days," Patrick stated, as he paced in Kelly's office. "Shouldn't she be awake by now?"

"She's lost a lot of blood. Her body is trying to heal itself. I have an MRI scheduled for this afternoon."

Before Patrick could respond, Maxie ran into Kelly's office.

"She's awake," Maxie blurted, "and she's asking for her baby."

Alexis entered the PCPD. Upon seeing Mac, she walked to him. He was talking to a uniformed officer, and once his conversation was over, she tenderly touched his shoulder.

"I'm sorry to hear about Robin's condition, but it is a miracle that the baby survived."

Mac gave her a brief glance and nodded politely. He walked into his office and gently closed the door. Alexis should have never expected that passionate night to be more than it was. Asking for more was going to get her heart broken.

Nikolas woke with a start. The nightmares had filtered their way into his naps. The dreams were so clear. He could see Emily asking for his help, pleading for him to rescue her. The sweat from his body caused the sheets to cling to his naked form. As he tossed the damp sheets aside, he could see his muscles trembling from fear. He needed help. He just didn't know whom to ask.

She didn't have to ask him twice. Milo hung the new drapes against Elizabeth's bedroom window. As he brushed his hand against her bed frame, he thought of her sleeping alone in such a large bed. If Jason loved her so much, where was he? Why did Elizabeth need to hang drapes by herself? If he hadn't walked into the bedroom to check on her, she might have fallen off the ladder. Milo paused to touch the sheets. Maybe she knew that Jason wasn't the one for her, Milo thought. Maybe she was just too nice to break Jason's heart. One day, when they were alone, Milo would ask her.
