"Spring Flowers"
Part 1 ~ Scent of Spring

Something was wrong, terribly wrong. Sharp pains raced through her abdomen. As she placed her hands on her pregnant belly, she clinched her teeth. Please God, she prayed, let me keep my baby. She stood slowly. She looked down to find the bed stained a dark red. She couldn't let the panic paralyze her. As she made it to her car, another pain gripped her body and forced her to her knees. As she tried to catch her breath, she could smell the scent of spring and the sharpness of blood.

"Hello."

Elizabeth didn't need to look up from the patient's file to realize that Jax was on the other side of the nurses' station. His happy tone and Australian accent gave away his identity. When she noticed that Carly was not with him, she gave him a relaxed smile.

"Jax, what brings you here?"

"Well," he drummed his fingers lightly on the desk. "Dr. Lee left a prescription of vitamins for Carly. Carly wasn't feeling well, so I'm here to pick it up."

"If you like I can page Dr. Lee and maybe schedule Carly for a visit."

"Oh, no. She just overdid it yesterday when she was helping to pack Sonny's house." Jax gave a reassuring smile. "She just needs some extra time off of her feet."

As Liz searched for the prescription, Jax noticed the sapphire and diamond ring.

"I hear congratulations are in order." As Jax nodded toward the ring, Liz blushed slightly.  "Jason stopped by to tell Carly the news."

"She must have screamed her head off."

"Actually, she didn't say much. This pregnancy has been so delicate that I think she's saving her reaction until after the baby is born. "

"Great, something to look forward to." Liz said sarcastically.

They both laughed openly, knowing that in a few months Carly would be back to her opinionated self.

"Sounds like the party is over here," Patrick chimed in from behind Jax.

"Just talking about the side effects of pregnancy."

As Liz handed Jax the prescription, she chuckled softly and then added, "Here you go, Jax. I hope Carly feels better." Liz turned and walked to the other end of the nurses' station to help a patient.

"Is Carly ok?" Patrick asked.

"Yeah, just a little over exertion. A little time off of her feet should cure it."

"I hope she feels better." Patrick said as he walked away.

"Thanks. " Jax turned towards the elevator. Before he could press the button, the elevator doors opened. Robin stood at the door of the open elevator, her pajama bottom soaked in blood. She fell into Jax's arms and collapsed against his chest.

"Help me," she uttered before fainting.

"What the hell is taking Kelly so long?" Patrick's voice was frantic.

Nadine laid her hand gently on his sleeve. "Patrick you need to calm down. You're not going to be any help to Robin by causing a ruckus."

Patrick ran his fingers through his hair and leaned against the door frame. He needed to see Robin and tell her that he loved her. He couldn't calm down until he had the chance to see her.

Kelly entered the room in a rush. "Patrick, Robin's lost a lot of blood, but the baby still has a heartbeat. We'll need to perform an emergency C-section. We're prepping Robin for surgery."

"I want to be there when our baby is born."

"I thought you would. Scrub up. I'll meet you in operating room 4."

The scent of spring flowers filled Carly's nostrils as she opened her eyes slowly. The spring bouquet was colorful and fragrant.

"Oh Jax, they're beautiful!"

"So are you!" Jax climbed into bed with Carly and gathered her in his arms. He was a lucky man, and he intended to stay that way.
