Part 13 ~ Forever

"Don't say anything," Alexis stated as she closed the door to Mac's office. "Just answer a few questions. If we were to get married, where would we live?"

"My house."

"Why?"

"Because it is closer to town, to our jobs and to all the best schools," he answered swiftly.

"Would we have to share the same bed?" Alexis continued.

"There are four bedrooms in the house. Unless you want Molly and Kristina to share a bedroom, there won't be room for a nursery and your private bedroom."

Alexis nodded to herself. "How long will we need to stay married?"

"Forever," Mac whispered.

Alexis looked at Mac but his gaze was elsewhere. Turning quickly, she left his office. As she raced to her car, she paused. Forever? Was she ready for forever? She was waiting for her chance at happiness, but how could she get happiness without getting her heart broken?

"Can you guarantee me forever?"

"What?" Diane asked.

"What if my marriage to Mac ends early? How can I guarantee that my child will be taken care of?"

"Well," Diane sneered, "You've come to the right place. I can create a prenup that will have Mac begging you never to leave him."

"Do it!" Alexis proclaimed. Forever was a long time. Alexis wanted to make sure that Mac lived up to his promises.

"It looks like you'll be able to go home on Saturday," Kelly told Robin, "with Emma."

As Robin's eyes flooded with tears, she missed the wink that her father gave Kelly. "It seems like I've been waiting for this moment forever." She hugged Kelly "Thank you."

"Don't thank me. You have a daughter who is a true fighter. Enjoy every moment that you have with her."

Hugging Patrick, Robin answered softly "I will."

As Patrick and Robin rejoiced, Robert handed Kelly the key to his hotel room.

"Meet me for dinner?"

"I'll be there at 8," she whispered, "smiling at Robin and Patrick; she made her way to her office.

Robert watched his daughter cry with happiness and wished that he could preserve this moment forever.
