Part 10 ~ Fine

"I'm fine." Lainey said as she brushed her
hair into a ponytail.
"Actually, you're ten pounds lighter and a
little dehydrated. You know," Robin said, "we can give you an I.V. and you
can rest here for the night."
"No, thanks," Lainey chuckled. "I've been
gone long enough. I just want to go home and sleep for a couple of days."
Securing her hairclip, Lainey turned to Robin. "But I promise to drink lots
of fluid between dreams."
"You know what? You're a great doctor but a
horrible patient."
"And from one friend to another," Lainey
responded, "You should stop playing doctor and go and support your family."
As Lainey started towards the hallway, she stopped and touched Robin's
shoulder. "I'll call to check up on Georgie later. If you need me, I'll be
sleeping next to my cell phone."
"Thank you, Lainey," Robin said and she
hugged her friend. "You don't know what you've done for my family. I don't
know how we can repay you."
"Well, for starters," Lainey smirked. "Try to
have Epiphany keep me off the schedule for a few days."
"I'm fine," Nikolas snapped.
"Actually, your blood pressure is elevated.
I'm going to write you a prescription for hydrochlorot. It's a pill that
will..." Patrick stated.
"I'm not taking any pill." Nikolas cut in.
"Did you ever consider that my blood pressure is high, because you are
keeping me here against my will. All I want to do is go home. I have things
to do before I fly back to Europe."
"You're planning on leaving again?"
"Of course. Emily is out there, and I plan on
finding her." Putting on his blazer, Nikolas eyed Patrick wearily. "I
promise to see my family physician before I leave. If my blood pressure is
still high, I'll ask him for a prescription. Ok?"
Although Patrick didn't believe him, he
relented. "Ok." He agreed.
"Well Mr. Morgan, it seems as if you're
fine."
"Actually, Nurse Webber, I have a pain right
here."
"Where?"
"Here," he said as he turned away. As she
stepped towards him, he spun around and grabbed her waist. "Right here." he
said as he nibbled on her neck. "Hmmmm. That's better."
"Mr. Morgan. I am on duty," Liz said in a
serious voice.
"Isn't it your job to make the patient feel
better?"
"This is not what they taught us in nursing
school. I can get fired for this behavior."
"Then quit first," he said before he captured
her lips. He missed her more than words can say. He had no plans of sleeping
alone tonight. "Let's go to the Metrocourt."
"Sorry to keep you waiting, but I'm going to
hang around for a few more hours. But while I'm here, you can do us both a
favor."
Jason released her and looked at her in
confusion.
"Please go take a trip to see Carly." Liz
continued, "She's been on bed rest, and she is driving me crazy with her
constant phone calls." When Liz saw that Jason was going to protest, she
opened the top button of her uniform and bent down to give him a peek of her
breast. "I promise that by the time you're done, the boys will be at Gram's,
and I'll be at the Metrocourt ready and waiting."
"Ready and waiting?"
Licking her lips, Liz answered. "Very ready,
waiting and wanting."
"Damn!" Jason said as he rushed from the
room.
"How is she?" Spinelli asked.
"She's fine. Considering..." Robin said.
"Good."
"I want to thank you for bringing her home."
"No thanks are needed. Never in my wildest
dreams did I think that we would find Georgie." Spinelli glanced down at his
laptop. "Georgie and I never had a chance at a relationship. The fact that
she only remembers me is a good thing, right?"
"It's a great thing." Robin smiled "She's
sleeping now. Maybe you should go home and do the same."
Spinelli nodded as he gathered his belonging
and headed to the hallway "Can you let her know that I'll be here as soon as
visiting hours starts?"
"Spinelli," Robin stated. "You come as early
as you want. We'll always make an exception for you."
Robin watched as Spinelli smiled and walked
away. For the first time in 12 hours, Robin thought that everything would be
fine. Too bad fate had other plans.
