Part 12 ~ No Problem

"What's this?" Epiphany asked as she read the letter.

"I'm taking a leave of absence," Layla said. "Mr. Corinthos requested that I come down to the island as his personal nurse."

"Is that so?" Epiphany smirked.

"He wants me to start right away. So my last day will be on Friday. Will that be a problem?"

Epiphany knew that there was a waiting list for student nurses. If Layla wanted to venture down this dangerous path, who was she to stop her? "No. No problem," Epiphany said innocently. "Good luck!"

Maxie could feel her heart beating heavily. Europe? She had never been out of the United States.

"Jax," she swallowed trying to erase the lump in her throat. "I don't know if I will ever be able to replace you."

"Maxie. I just need you to go to this fashion show in London. You have a great taste of style. Don't worry, Clarisse will be there. Between the both of you, I know that you will select the latest fashion trends." Jax walked over to the window. Looking at nothing in particular, he continued. "I can't leave Carly right now. She needs me. If you don't feel up to it. Let me know, and I'll send someone else."

Maxie was far from stupid. She knew that Jax would not consider her for a promotion if she bulked at going to a fashion show. London?  She bit her lip, deep in thought. She wanted that promotion, and she was going to get it come hell or high water. "I'll be there," she announced.

"Great," Jax stated. Smiling her gave her the rest of the details and left the office.

London? No problem, Maxie thought nervously.

"Tonight? I don't think I can make it. I've been invited to dinner by a close friend." Robert said into the phone.

"No problem," Patrick responded. "Maybe some other time"

"No. I want to be with Robin. How about I come over for breakfast in the morning? Then we can all visit Emma together."

"That would be great." Patrick perked "How about 8 for breakfast?"

"Sounds good. I'll see you then." As Robert hung up the phone, Kelly exited the bathroom draped in a sheer robe.

"Problem?" she asked.

"No problem," he stated as he folded her into his arms. "No problem at all," he whispered into her lips.
