Part 10 ~ Mob Wench

Lucky hung up the phone in disgust. This was the tenth lawyer that he talked to, all with the same results. Suing Liz for custody of the boys would be difficult if not impossible. Because he had never officially adopted Cam, it would be difficult for the court to remove him from his biological mother. As for Jake, if Liz informed the courts that Jason was Jake's father, the court may say that the biological father had the right to raise his own child. If that wasn't difficult enough, Lucky's history with drugs would make things even harder. His dismal bank account didn't help matters, especially since Jason's assets seemed to be endless.

Lucky clenched his teeth angrily. Why couldn't Liz see that the only reason that he slept with Maxie was that he was dependent on the drugs. He would have never cheated on Liz if he was clean. Instead, she ran straight into the arms of a mobster. Not only did she let herself be a mob wench, she decided to keep his child. It seemed that she would have anyone's child, Jax or Jason, before she would have his child. Jax and Jason used their money and power to lure women into their beds. Well, Jax now had to deal with Carly and that was punishment enough, but Jason was another story.

His sleeping with Sam did nothing to make Liz or Jason jealous. It just drove them closer together. If he had been thinking, he would have spurned Sam's advances and fought for custody of the kids right away. He knew that losing her kids would devastate Liz. A devastated wife was better than no wife at all.

Sam, where was she anyway? If he could use an ally, she would be it. She had her own need for revenge and maybe she could help him end Liz and Jason's engagement.

"Lucky," Alexis exclaimed as she opened her front door. "Are you ok?"

For the first time, Lucky noticed that he hadn't shaved or changed his clothes. "Yes, I was on a stake-out last night. I'm just leaving work. I just wanted to stop by and see if you've heard from Sam."

Alexis closed the door quietly and paused before speaking. She knew that Sam didn't want to speak to Lucky yet. Sam didn't think that Lucky would understand her decision to keep Diego's baby. "I spoke to Sam and she's ok."

"Why won't she return my calls?"

"She just needs time to think. I'm sure she'll give you a call soon." Alexis said still standing by the door.

Lucky noticed that Alexis seemed nervous. "Where is she?" he asked quietly.

"Visiting a friend."

"Where?" he raised his voice slightly "I need to know that she's ok." When Alexis didn't answer, Lucky silently counted to ten, placed a boyish smile on his face and said calmly "I promise that I won't try and contact her. I just need to know that someone is taking care of her."

She couldn't let him keep worrying about Sam. She was sure that Sam wouldn't want that. Plus, Sonny wasn't a danger to anyone now. "She's staying with Sonny on his island."

Another mob wench, Lucky thought. Staying calm, Lucky silently walked past Alexis and out of the house. As he opened his car door, his boyish smile became a sneer.

Alexis stood in the doorway and watched Lucky drive away. She would call down to the island and ask Sam to call Lucky. It would be better if he knew the truth, she thought as she locked the door. It would take months before Alexis realized how wrong she was.
