Part 14 ~ Family Secrets

"Well," Sam teased. "How was the honeymoon?"

Alexis smiled openly. "Aruba is always wonderful." She glanced down at her pregnant belly before continuing, "And even though I look like a beached whale, Mac always made me feel pretty."

"Spoken like a woman in love," Sam responded. "How are Molly and Kristina? Have they adjusted to living in Mac's house?"

"Technically, Mac and I are still living in separate houses. Georgie's return changed everything. Maxie has moved back in and the house is streaming with visitors." Alexis went on to tell Sam about Dillon's return and the fact that Georgie's memory still hadn't returned. "We thought it would be better if at least one house was stable."

"Still, it must be hard living apart."

"I thought it would be too, but somehow we've adjusted. Mac has dinner with Maxie and Georgie each night before he comes here. Each morning, he makes it a point to have breakfast with me and the girls. He is so good with them. He definitely knows his way with girls. I'm a little ashamed to admit it, but I'm hoping for a little girl."

"I think Mac will be an excellent father regardless of the sex of the baby."

"You're right," Alexis agreed. "But how are you doing? Will you be coming home to have the baby?"

Alexis remained silent as Sam paused in thought.

Finally, she replied "I don't think so. Sonny is flying back to Port Charles for Jason's wedding. He offered me a place to stay, and he's going to have a moving company pack my things and ship it anywhere I want."

"Wow, that's very generous of Sonny."

"When I get back, I was hoping that I could see you before I leave Port Charles for good."

"Of course! I'll bring Molly and Kristina with me."

"No!" Sam said forcefully. "I don't want anyone to know I'm pregnant. Please, Alexis. It is important that this baby has a fresh start in life."

"If that's what you want." Alexis agreed reluctantly. Ten minutes later, she was saying her goodbye and hung up the phone. Alexis didn't like keeping secrets; it always had a way of coming back to haunt her.
