The second season opened on July 22, 2008, with a car crashing through
the ER and injuring GH staff members. Jagger Cates returned to Port Charles
with a surprise for Robin -- a son named Stone. When his group's tour was
over, Toussaint returned to the hospital. New interns Kyle and Claire bemoan
their new superiors' strictness.
In the July 29, 2008, episode called "Other People's Children," a drunken
patient went after Claire, Leo and Kyle tried to reconcile, and Jagger and
Robin fought about Stone. During the frantic search to find a donor for an
ill little girl adopted from China, Robin discovered a secret about the
child.
During "Fallen From the Sky" on August 5, Jagger rushed into the ER with an uncooperative plane crash
victim, Robin's father super spy Robert Scorpio, who didn’t recognize her.
Meanwhile, Leo and Saira continued to fight their attraction for each other,
new roommates Kyle and Claire disagreed regarding their living arrangements,
and Epiphany and Toussaint spoke about their relationship.
"We'll Always Have Paris" on August 12 saw a French woman
attacking Patrick, Robin giving her dad troubling news, and Saira evaluating Jagger's
son, while Toussaint and Epiphany went on their first date, and Kyle
taught Sex-Ed to some unlikely students.
On August 19, "Family Values" dealt with Robin and her father, Robert,
clashing over his medical treatment. Meanwhile, Kyle saw his brother Leo in
a new light after witnessing an encounter with a patient's homophobic
family; Jagger reluctantly allowed Saira to treat Stone; and a corpse shocked
Toussaint and Claire.
"Playing With Fire" airs on August 26 when Patrick looks at Robin's HIV
status with a new perspective after meeting a couple who are quarantined
from one another despite their desperate desire to be together. Meanwhile, jealousy causes Leo to try to keep Jagger and
Saira apart, Robert suffers another setback, and Claire surprises Kyle by
signing him up for Internet dating.
When Robert has surgery on September 2, 2008, Robin must make a
life-or-death decision for him in "Listen to My Heart." John J.
York will appear as Mac Scorpio to support his niece. Also, Jagger joins a
support group for parents with autistic children, Leo and Saira find a way
to work together to help a patient, and Claire runs into an old classmate,
Ryan.
On September 9, "Pay It Forward" finds Jagger investigating the hospital
and its Chief of Staff, Patrick, after the FBI discovers someone is
illegally selling human organs. Meanwhile, Robert has a meltdown when he has
had
enough of the hospital, Leo begins to feel the pressure of his
"relationship" with Saira, Claire learns a hard truth when she loses someone close to her, and Toussaint
and Epiphany reconcile.
In "About a Dad" on September 16, Jagger panics when Stone has a seizure
and is rushed into the ER. Patrick feels left out when Robin's attention is
split between caring for Robert and offering support to Jagger. Claire and
Leo feel guilty about sleeping together, while Kyle finds a new purpose when
Saira invites him to head her study on the benefits of breast milk.
On the September 23 episode "Brothers & Sisters," Mrs. Julian, Leo and
Kyle's mother, drops by unexpectedly to visit her two sons; Kyle develops an
attraction to a new patient; Claire divulges a secret; Robert appreciates
his daughter, Robin, and begins to understand her; Patrick is left in a
no-win situation.
When Robert has to have emergency surgery on September 30 during the
"Love/Hate" episode, Robin leans on her mother, Anna (Finola Hughes).
Meanwhile, the staff must treat a group of racist patients, and Kyle
struggles to forgive Claire and Leo for sleeping together.
In the "Truth and Consequences" episode of October 7, Patrick puts the whole
hospital in danger after a notorious patient dies. Meanwhile, Dr. Monica
Quartermaine visits; Robert and Anna take a stroll down memory lane; and Kyle
and Eric get closer.
Night Shift had an overload of material for its season finale, so the wrap-up
is now being presented as a two-parter ending on October 21 when Patrick's
actions with a patient culminate in an explosion that rocks Port Charles. The
finale also boasts a class reunion of GH '80s greats, including Robert (Tristan
Rogers), Anna (Finola Hughes), Luke (Tony Geary), Sean (John Reilly), and
Tiffany (Sharon Wyatt).
In Part 1 of "Past and Presence," the two-part second-season finale airing on
October 14, a comatose Robert is visited by old friends and family, including
Mac, Luke, Sean, and Tiffany. Elsewhere, Jagger is served custody papers;
Toussaint receives a surprising letter; Claire makes a major career decision;
and Kyle and Eric hit a turning point in their relationship.
October 21's Part 2 of "Past and Presence" show the doctors trying to save Saira's
life after the explosion; Robert and Anna take a major
step; Claire and Kyle become friends again; and Patrick and Jagger have to stop a
bomb from going off.
