On Friday, January 22, 2010, James Mitchell, who played Palmer Cortlandt for 30 years, passed away in Los Angeles from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, complicated by pneumonia. He would have turned 90 on February 29. The show will air a moving tribute to Mr. Mitchell in the spring.

Four stars of AMC will appear in the March issue of "Los Angeles Magazine" in a special 8-page spread wearing the hottest spring fashions. Susan Lucci (Erica), Cameron Mathison (Ryan), Rebecca Budig (Greenlee), and Denise Vasi (Randi) posed behind the scenes at the new AMC L.A. set.

AMC will feature two Los Angeles politicians playing themselves to celebrate the show's move to California. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and City Council President Eric Garcetti will both shoot episodes at the show's new production studio near downtown Los Angeles in January. Villaraigosa will shoot a scene with Susan Lucci, who plays Erica Kane. Writers are still trying to figure out a plot twist that puts the mayor in the fictional city of Pine Valley, PA. Garcetti will appear with actor David Canary, discussing making Adam Chandler's businesses "more environmentally friendly."

AMC will begin taping in LA at the beginning of January and airing in HD in February.
