This is one of our favorite sitcoms.  It was a silly, wacky show in the same vein as "Airplane", with plenty of sight gags as well as verbal jokes.  David Rasche plays Sledge Hammer, an over-the-top cop that makes Dirty Harry look like a wuss.  He has a thing for his gun and likes violence.  The show was a spoof of many cop shows that had detectives who "didn't play by the rules" and their bosses were always yelling at them and threatening to suspend them.  It only lasted a few seasons but it was really funny.
