  • Hip-hop duo "Atmosphere" is MTV's "52 Bands/52 Weeks" featured artist for the week of May 5. Atmosphere formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1993. Members include Slug (Sean Daley), the rhymer, and Ant (Anthony Davis), the producer. The duo has received much critical acclaim throughout the years, with Rolling Stone commenting, “One can feel Atmosphere loosening modern hip-hop from its moorings and yanking it into some weirder and far more interesting place.” Atmosphere’s most recent album, When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold, was released on April 22. The album sold 36,000 copies in its first week and landed at number five on the U.S. Billboard 200. Atmosphere is currently on a US tour throughout the end of May, and will play a number of European dates in June. Atmosphere will receive 11-hours of exposure on MTV through a series of video promotions, a few of which feature a lemonade stand—a play on the group’s newly-released album title. The video clips can also be seen on MTV.com, and an exclusive clip of Atmosphere performing “You” is available here.

  • Radiohead and MTV join in unique and exclusive collaboration to raise awareness and increase prevention of human trafficking. Think.mtv.com helps to raise awareness on human rights issues. London/New York/Hong Kong – 30th April 2008: In an unprecedented and exclusive collaboration, MTV EXIT (End Exploitation and Trafficking) Campaign and Radiohead have partnered to produce a music video for Radiohead’s track “All I Need” off the album In Rainbows. The music video will premiere on all MTV properties globally on 1st May 2008. The video was created for the ‘MTV EXIT Campaign in Asia and the Pacific’ – an initiative produced in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development, USAID. The collaboration represents an innovative and creative example of fusing musical content with MTV’s pro-social messaging. The “All I Need” video is being released globally across all platforms, and will potentially be seen in 560 million households worldwide. MTV US will air “All I Need” across all platforms including all day premieres on MTV, MTV2, mtvU, MTV Tr3s, MTV.com and MTV Hits. Also, New York pedestrians roaming Times Square can catch the “All I Need” when it plays on the massive MTV 44 ½ video screen. For more information on how to support the fight against human trafficking and share your thoughts on human rights issues go to Think.mtv.com. Additionally, you can go to Think.mtv.com to watch the full “All I Need” video as well as an exclusive interview with Radiohead’s Thom Yorke beginning on Thursday, May 1st. The partnership between MTV EXIT and Radiohead extends beyond the “All I Need” music video. At each of the concerts on Radiohead’s upcoming tour of North America, Europe, and Asia, youth activists belonging to local anti-human trafficking organizations will be distributing key information about trafficking. This follows similar concert tour collaboration with US rock band R.E.M. “I think it is cool that MTV is taking on this issue. The video is a powerful piece and I hope that the emotion of the song will jump out at people in the context of these images of exploitation”, said Thom Yorke of Radiohead. He added, “I’m proud that the song and the video will help to raise awareness of this issue around the world.” “We are always looking for more creative, innovative ways to talk to our audience about key issues and we aim through this highly visual campaign to raise awareness of Human Trafficking”, said Bill Roedy, Vice Chairman MTV Networks. He also added, “trafficking is a crime which violates the basic rights of its victims: the rights to freedom, equality, and dignity. We endeavor to support and advocate these rights – and empower our audience – through initiatives like MTV EXIT and other MTV projects”. “The collaboration with Radiohead will take MTV EXIT to a global audience, expanding the reach of USAID’s partnership with MTV beyond Asia and the Pacific,” said Olivier Carduner, USAID’s Regional Mission Director for Asia, “Together, Radiohead and MTV are helping to raise awareness about the need to stop this form of modern-day slavery.” The “All I Need” video was filmed in Australia by Oscar-winning Cinematographer, John Seale (The English Patient, Cold Mountain), and award-winning director, Steve Rogers. It provides insight into the realities of trafficking, emphasizes that everyone plays a role in the issue, and provides a link to information about how to help end exploitation and trafficking. The video itself is shown in split screen: one side depicting a day in the life of a young child from an affluent, developed area; the other showing the day in the life of a child being forced to work in a sweatshop. • THE HONORARY TITLE GUEST STARRING ON ONE TREE HILL TUESDAY FEBRUARY 12TH 9PM/8PM CENTRAL ON CW. Brooklyn’s The Honorary Title will be making a special appearance on the popular CW teen drama One Tree Hill tomorrow February 12th 9pm/8pm Central. The folk/pop/punk band debuted on Warner Music last summer with Scream and Light Up the Sky. One Tree Hill episode overview: When everyone gathers at Tric to see The Honorary Title perform, Carrie sees it as a chance to get closer to Nathan; Brooke forces Mouth to go on a blind date; Lindsey confronts Lucas about sneaking off to see Peyton. The Honorary Title, began as a moniker for Jarrod Gorbel’s solo folk musings but in the last few years it has evolved into a full-fledged quartet who just released its second album and major label debut, Scream and Light Up the Sky— a beautifully ragged collection of subtle indie pop with hints of Americana, Britpop, and punk. Back in 2003, The Honorary Title was Gorbel and multi-instrumentalist Aaron Kamstra, who plugged away on the New York City club circuit before signing to indie label Doghouse Records. In 2004, Gorbel and Kamstra released their debut Anything Else But the Truth, which combined the unbridled passion of Gorbel’s vocals with pop hooks and keenly observed, poetic lyrics. During this time, Kamstra’s long-time friend Jonathan Wiley joined to play guitar and keyboard, and they later recruited ex-Format drummer Adam Boyd.

With the presidential candidate field narrowing after the Florida primaries, “Super Dialogue” participants will vie to earn the support of young voters expected to turn out in record numbers on Super Tuesday.  Each candidate will have the floor for roughly 15-20 minutes, individually addressing questions posed by online viewers via MySpaceIM, ChooseOrLose.com and from the live college-aged audience in MTV’s Times Square Studio in New York. Young voters have shown an exceptionally high turnout at this year’s primaries and caucuses to date, tripling their presence in Iowa and South Carolina, and doubling in New Hampshire vs. four years ago. WashingtonPost.com political reporter Chris Cillizza, MTV News Correspondents Gideon Yago and Sway Calloway, and Associated Press political writer Philip Elliott will moderate the Dialogue. “Closing Arguments” will be the most publicly accessible and interactive presidential candidate event in history, with a record number of ways for people to watch and participate: Broadcast live on MTV, MTV2, and MTV Tr3s, with highlights on college network mtvU, Streamed live online via MySpace (www.myspace.com/election2008) and MTV’s www.ChooseOrLose.com, Distributed live to the Associated Press Online Video Network, encompassing more than 1,800 media sites with an aggregate reach of 61 million unique visitors – and nearly 600 local media outlets in Super Tuesday states, Streamed live on mobile devices via MTV Mobile, Broadcast live on radio via XM Satellite Radio, MTV, and AP Radio, Translated into Spanish and broadcast on ImpreMedia’s LaVibra (www.lavibra.com.candidatos), Shown on MTV 44 1/2, MTV’s hi-definition screen in Times Square, Live studio audience participating at MTV’s Times Square studio. A revolutionary polling tool, powered by Flektor (www.flektor.com), will enable viewers watching online to indicate their approval or disapproval of candidates’ responses throughout the course of the event and help guide the direction of the forum. A “popular vote” function will allow viewers to compare their opinions against those of the entire viewing community.  Previous MySpace/MTV Presidential Dialogues have featured former Senator John Edwards at the University of New Hampshire, Senator Barack Obama at Coe College in Iowa, and Senator John McCain at Southern New Hampshire University, individually engaging with students at each event and addressing unfiltered questions posed by both online viewers and the live audience. The Presidential Dialogue series is a key component of the MySpace Impact Channel (http://impact.myspace.com) and MTV’s “Choose or Lose” (www.ChooseorLose.com).  “Choose or Lose” is MTV's Emmy-Award winning campaign to engage, inform and empower young voters on the political issues that matter to them most.  First launched in 1992, the campaign has helped fuel several of the largest youth voter turnouts in US history, including in 2004, when it helped inspire nearly 22 million 18-30 year olds to register and vote. The Impact channel is MySpace’s new hub for social and civic engagement, designed to empower MySpace users to make a difference in the world and to allow politicians, non-profits, and civic organizations to connect with MySpace’s global audience.  The Impact Channel houses the official MySpace pages for all of the major party Presidential candidates, as well as tools to enable voter registration, fundraising, and volunteering. On January 1 and 2, 2008 the Impact Channel hosted the first in nation presidential primary with more than 150,000 MySpace users voicing their choice for the nation’s highest office.
