  • “THE SON” ALSO RISES-AMC RENEWS WESTERN DRAMA FOR SECOND SEASON
Multi-Generational Epic, The #1 Original Program On Cable On Saturdays, Will Return In 2018
AMC today announced that it has renewed its Western drama, “The Son” for a second season. Starring Pierce Brosnan, “The Son” is a sweeping saga about a Texas ranching and oil family based on Philipp Meyer’s New York Times best-selling and Pulitzer Prize finalist novel of the same name. The series will return to AMC in 2018 with 10 new episodes.
AMC is currently airing season one of “The Son,” which is averaging 2.3 million viewers each week, capping a day of classic Western films and television shows on Saturdays. In the current television season, “The Son” is the #1 original program on cable on Saturday nights and #3 in all of television.
“‘The Son’ proudly continues our Westerns tradition at AMC, including ‘Broken Trail,’ ‘Hell on Wheels’ and decades of films from The Duke, Clint and so many more. We are so pleased to add to that list another season of our original, multi-generational drama from Philipp Meyer, Kevin Murphy and a remarkable cast led by the incomparable Pierce Brosnan,” said Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios. “It’s our longstanding mission to super-serve Westerns fans on weekends and we look forward to continuing this epic next year. Welcome home, Son.”
“I couldn’t be more excited to continue sharing this story with our viewers,” said co-creator and executive producer, Philipp Meyer. “Thank you to our wonderful cast and crew, as well as AMC and Sonar for allowing us to continue this journey.”
“I am enormously grateful to AMC and Sonar for this opportunity to reunite with this incredibly talented cast and crew, roll up our collective sleeves and get to work creating the next installment of the McCullough family saga,” said Kevin Murphy, showrunner and executive producer.
“I am over the moon happy to be back in the saddle as Colonel Eli McCullough for season two of ‘The Son’ and to stand shoulder-to-shoulder alongside our incredible cast of actors, writers, directors and our amazing crew in the heart of Austin, Texas,” said Brosnan. “And above all else to our ever-growing fan base, I extend my heartfelt thanks for your support.”
“The Son” is an epic family saga spanning three generations and 150 years of the McCullough family. The series traces the transformation of Eli McCullough (Brosnan), the charismatic family patriarch, from good-natured innocent to calculating killer. He loses everything on the wild frontier, setting him on the path to building a ranching-and-oil dynasty of unsurpassed wealth and privilege. Eli’s eldest son Pete (Henry Garrett), has grown up in his father’s shadow and struggles to make him proud while forging his own identity. Pete’s strong-willed daughter, Jeannie (Sydney Lucas) idolizes her grandfather and despite being raised in a male-dominated world, rejects her fate of existing solely to marry and bear children. Eli’s ruthlessness pits him against his wealthy Spanish neighbor, Pedro Garcia (Carlos Bardem) and his quest for power triggers consequences that span generations. Shared through a series of flashbacks, “The Son” pulls viewers into the world of young Eli McCullough (Jacob Lofland) and his father figure, Comanche war chief, Toshaway (Zahn McClarnon) and deftly explores the McCullough’s rise to become one the most powerful family dynasties in Texas.
Season one of “The Son” was shot on-location in Austin, Texas.

I'm as excited as a Swedish person is allowed to get," Soderbergh said.
Kerrigan's storyline is set against the backdrop of the corrupting influence of dark money in the upcoming 2018 U.S. mid-term elections, where everything and everyone has a price. • SYFY AND STEVEN SPIELBERG’S AMBLIN TELEVISION REUNITING TO DEVELOP ALDOUS HUXLEY’S CLASSIC NOVEL BRAVE NEW WORLD
Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey and Les Bohem Will Executive Produce Series With Bohem Writing Screenplay Universal Cable Productions to Serve as Studio
NEW YORK – May 5, 2015 – Adding to its growing roster of major productions featuring science fiction’s most acclaimed franchises, Syfy is reuniting with Emmy® Award-winning Amblin Television to develop a scripted series based on Aldous Huxley’s classic novel Brave New World.
Syfy and Amblin previously collaborated on Steven Spielberg Presents: Taken, which won a 2003 Emmy® for Best Miniseries, as well as nominations in six other categories.
Brave New World is set in a world without poverty, war or disease. In this world, humans are given mind-altering drugs, free sex and rampant consumerism are the order of the day, and people no longer reproduce but are genetically engineered in “hatcheries.” Those who won’t conform are forced onto “reservations” – until one of these “savages” challenges the system, threatening the entire social order. First published in 1932, Brave New World was ranked fifth among the 100 best English language novels of the 20th Century by Modern Library.
Said Dave Howe, President, Syfy & Chiller: “Brave New World is one of the most influential genre classics of all time. Its provocative vision of a future gone awry remains as powerful and as timeless as ever. Promising to be a monumental television event, Brave New World is precisely the groundbreaking programming that is becoming the hallmark of Syfy.”

  • USA Network UNIVERSAL CABLE PRODUCTIONS’ CRITICALLY-ACCLAIMED ‘PLAYING HOUSE’ RETURNS TO USA NETWORK FOR THIRD SEASON
PLAYING HOUSE Doubled its VOD Audience in Season Two with Innovative Windowing Model
UNIVERSAL CITY – Jan. 14, 2016 – Universal Cable Productions’ critically-acclaimed PLAYING HOUSE will return to USA Network for a third season. The comedy is from Universal Cable Productions and is executive produced by series’ stars Jessica St. Clair and Lennon Parham.
"Not only is this a show for the ages, PLAYING HOUSE also represents a whole new way of financing production with its unique partnership of ad sales, Comcast, studio and network," said Jeff Wachtel, President and Chief Content Officer, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment.
“Year-over-year we have seen PLAYING HOUSE attract critical acclaim and a loyal fan base that continues to grow,” said Jackie de Crinis, Executive Vice President Original Programming, USA Network, “The unique relationship between Jessica and Lennon translates into a heart-warming comedy about friendship and we are delighted to have it for a third season.”
Last season, Comcast and NBCUniversal introduced a new distribution model which allowed viewers to watch every episode of PLAYING HOUSE on Video-On-Demand (VOD) before it aired on USA Network. This not only gave the super fans early access to new episodes, but drove new viewers to the series. As a result, PLAYING HOUSE doubled its VOD audience from season one to season two and, based on the broad partnership with Comcast, the show was #3 on the XFINITY on Demand platform during its premiere month in August, beating all other broadcast and basic cable offerings.
The VOD episodes offered limited commercial breaks with custom branded spots, which were co-created by, and featured, St. Clair and Lennon. This new model offered the series’ three signature sponsors -- Samsung, Toyota and Comcast -- premium placement across millions of multiplatform-connected homes and engaged the highly passionate community of fans among USA Network subscribers (USA Now apps, web, mobile, connected TV) as well as distribution partners’ VOD and TV Everywhere platforms. The PLAYING HOUSE sponsorship enhanced campaign messaging for all three sponsors and brand favorability increased by as much at 15% among VOD viewers.
