Freak of the Week: Jodi Melville (Amy Adams) is a
classmate of Pete and Clark. She is obsessed with her weight, and only
drinks shakes made from vegetables that have been infected with
kryptonite. These meals make her loose all her body fat. She looses it
so fast that she needs to compensate by feeding on the body fat of
others. It seems her next victim will be Pete Ross (Sam
Jones III) who asks her out on a date. Clark Kent (Tom
Welling) rescues him and Jodi is taken to hospital.
Character Development: It's Lana Lang's (Kristin
Kreuk) birthday. She is not fond of birthdays, her only good
birthday memory is of her sitting in the car with her parents, watching
a drive-in Looney Tunes movie and falling asleep between her parents.
Aunt Nell (Sarah-Jane
Redmond) organizes the party at Lex Luthor's (Michael
Rosenbaum) mansion. Unfortunately, Whitney Fordman (Eric
Johnson) cannot make it, as he is trying out for the Kansas State
football team that same day. Clark offers to be Lana's escort. She
accepts, and makes him promise that he will not let her down this time.
Meanwhile, Lex is constantly trying to understand the mysteries of the
meteor shower of 1989. When he finds out about Chloe Sullivan's (Allison
Mack) "Wall of Weird", he decides to hire Dr. Steven Hamilton (Joe
Morton), an expert meteor scientist. Dr. Hamilton takes a little
convincing, which Lex promptly does by blackmailing him.
Clark misses out on his "date" with Lana, as he is busy rescuing Pete,
but makes up for it by offering her a very nice gift. They both sit in
his truck and watch a projection of a Looney Tune movie on his barn
wall.

Notes:The letter Lex receives from Dr. Vargas is sent from
"Metropolis, KA". There is no postal code "KA" - if they meant Kansas, it
should be "KS".
Jodi sucks the fat from the kid who made fun of her. But there are no
visible bite marks or holes and when she does, it looks a whole lot like
a vampire sucking blood. Except in the scene when he grabs Clark and is
fat-less, there's no visible damage to him.
Jodi's scale calculates her weight down the first time, but then
calculates it up the second time. Season Two -
