Detailed Description:

Freak of the Week: Bob Rickman (Rick Peters) is CEO of LuthorCorp's rival company, an is planning to build a fertilizer plant in Smallville to compete with Lionel Luthor's (John Glover). He feels that the ideal place for it in on the location of the Kent Farm. Of course, Jonathan Kent (John Schneider) has no intention to sell. Unfortunately, Rickman has an unnatural power of persuasion, acquired at the time of the meteor shower, when he was a salesman and got exposed to kryptonite while in his car. Just by shaking Jonathan's hand, he changes his mind.
Kyle Tippet (Gregory Sporleder) is a very private man, a recluse who lives in the forest. We find out that he has the same powers, because he used to be a close friend to Rickman, and they were salesmen together at the time of the meteor shower. Following it, each man chose a different direction in life.
Rickman continues his path of persuasion, and convinces Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum) to turn on Clark Kent (Tom Welling). Lex tries to shoot Clark who dodges the bullet. Meanwhile, Kyle and Rickman have come into contact, and are fighting each other. Kyle persuades Rickman to kill himself.

Character Development: Clark, Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk) and Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack) go horseback riding, and Lana falls. Clark rushes to help her, and finds Kyle trying to help her up. Lana and Whitney believe that Kyle was involved in Lana's fall, Clark believes otherwise. Clark and Whitney argue over it, and Lana is extremely hostile to Clark.
While Clark and Chloe visit Kyle, Chloe does not believe Kyle's story. He proves it to her by persuading her to reveal her true feelings to Clark, which she does and ends up kissing Clark.

Notes:

Clark says he doesn't know what he wants to do for a job, but that he at least knows he doesn't want to be dressing up in a suit and flying around everywhere. His vision of him flying in a suit is much different than our vision of him.

So if Clark is vulnerable to kryptonite, shouldn't he be more vulnerable to the kryptonite-based mind control powers of the two salesmen, rather than immune? He's never been immune to people with krypto-powers before - why is he in this episode? He seems to have a pretty much normal brain, and his superpowers in all of his comic book appearances have never involved a resistance to mind control and telepathy. So why can't he be affected here? (the same applies to future episodes such as the ones with Ryan where Clark also has immunity to telepathy)

Clark does plenty of Matrix-like moves and then sort of gives up and and just takes the hit. Why does he stop dodging?
