Mysterious Dexter Return, Chuck Feature Film: 'I
Miss Sarah'
Yvonne Strahovski is having a tough time letting
her Chuck alter ego Sarah Walker go, so much so
that the Dexter star recently binge-watched the
show’s first season and part of the second. ”It
was such a massive time in my life that whole
chunk of five years,” she told me over the
weekend in TVLine’s Comic-Con interview suite.
“We were such a family.”
Needless to say, Strahovski is hopeful that her
former leading man Zachary Levi’s ambitious plan
(as detailed here) to bring the series to the
big screen comes to fruition. “He’s had lots of
plans for many different things and they’ve all
worked out very nicely,” she acknowledges. “So I
wouldn’t put it past him to put this together.”
In the meantime, Strahovski is getting ready to
unleash two high-profile projects on the public
— her anticipated return to Dexter as serial
menace Hannah, and her big-screen thriller I,
Frankenstein (out next January).

moral code - he only kills murderers who can't
otherwise be brought to justice. Dexter is a killer
who grapples with fitting into society while, at the
same time, he struggles with his inability to feel
emotion. The irony of Dexter's life is that he works
closely as a blood splatter analyst with the very
people who hunt his kind - the homicide departments.
In November 2013, Showtime and CBS DVD released all
8 seasons as "The Complete Series Collection,"
available in Limited Edition packaging for both DVD
and Blu-ray Disc, and also as an "Exclusive Gift
Set" on Blu-ray. Those versions have all been
discontinued, however.

What _we'll_ miss most is the "black" magic
tricks of turning a serial killer into a hero
and spinning a darkly comic allegory for a
horror-warped culture. The series capper
promises a showdown with the Brain Surgeon,
Dexter's who-he-coulda-been doppelganger. At
stake is a happily-ever-after with his
black-widow girlfriend, Hannah (Yvonne
Strahovski), and beloved stepsister, Debra
(Jennifer Carpenter). But doesn't Dex deserve
some comeuppance for his criminal war on terror?
With a title like "Remember the Monsters?" we
wonder if the finale will remind us that Dexter
has always been one, too.

Showrunner Chip Johannessen is out and Scott Buck is in.
Buck will serve as the Showrunner for the
upcoming season of Dexter. He previously served
as the executive producer on the show and is
highly regarded in the industry. As an executive
producer he lead last season to be the most
popular season of Dexter yet as each episode
averaged more than 5 million viewers while
landing several prestigious award nominations.
Buck announced that all of the writers will be
back for the upcoming season. Previously Buck
worked as the writer/producer for another
Michael C Hall show, Six Feet Under.

JANE ESPENSON AND DREW Z. GREENBERG TO WRITE NEW SYFY PILOT RANDALL AND HOPKIRK
(DECEASED) FROM ITV STUDIOS AMERICA AND UNIVERSAL CABLE PRODUCTIONS NEW YORK – January 13, 2011 – Writers Jane Espenson and Drew Z. Greenberg are
teaming to pen the script for Syfy’s pilot development project Randall and
Hopkirk (Deceased) from ITV Studios America. Syfy announced last May that it had
acquired the rights to the classic British detective show for development as a
potential one-hour series with Howard Braunstein of Jaffe/Braunstein
Entertainment (The Memory Keepers Daughter/ Christmas in Canaan) on board as
executive producer. Randall and Hopkirk is a co-production between Universal
Cable Productions and ITV for Syfy. UCP will be the producing company. Jane and Drew most recently collaborated on the Syfy original series Caprica,
where Espenson served as executive producer and Greenberg as supervising
producer. The pair also worked together on genre busting crossover television
hit Buffy the Vampire Slayer where Espenson was a writer/producer and Greenberg
a writer. Espenson’s other writing and producing credits include Battlestar Galactica,
Gilmore Girls and Dollhouse. Greenberg’s writing and producing credits include
Warehouse 13 and Dexter. Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) is based on the popular British detective series
from the late 1960s in which Hopkirk (Kenneth Cope) was murdered while
investigating a case. He returned as a ghost, visible only to his former
partner, Randall (Mike Pratt), and assisted him in sleuthing from beyond the
grave. ITV Studios America, the U.S. based production entity of ITV plc in the U.K. is
one of the largest international producers for the U.S. market and a major force
in acquiring, developing and producing reality and scripted programming for US
networks.
