The original "Law & Order" on NBC is about the two parts
of the criminal justice system: the police, and the prosecutors.
The show covers homicide detectives as they investigate the murder and
arrest a suspect, then the prosecutors bring the suspect to trial.
Unlike many dramas in today's TV, we do not learn too much about the
characters' personal lives. The shows focus on the crime and the
criminals. "Law & Order" was on the air for 20 years
and was canceled, but they're bringing it back now for season 21.
It has had many spin-offs, including the current shows Law & Order:
Special Victims Unit and "Law & Order: Organized Crime."
Past spinoffs have included "Law & Order: Criminal Intent;
two the short-lived series: "Law & Order: LA" and "Law & Order:
Trial by Jury"; and a British version, "Law and Order UK".
If you like the Dick Wolf Law & Order shows, you might like
his other shows, "Chicago Fire," "Chicago PD," and "Chicago
Med" on NBC; and "FBI," "FBI: Most Wanted," and "FBI: International"
on CBS.
