WB Admits Mistake in Cancellation Read more about WB CEO Ancier's revelation at the Press Tour. Article by Simon from SaveAngel.org
In a surprising turn, newly ensconced WB head Garth Ancier admitted that cancelling ANGEL may have been a mistake.
During the TV Critics Press Tour yesterday, Ancier claimed that had the network and producers Twentieth Century Fox held off the February decision, ANGEL might have been renewed: "The mistake that was made between us and Twentieth was that we didn't wait until May, we just made the decision early based upon their request."
Last year, ANGEL was "on the bubble" and renewed at the last moment. Typically, programmers decide series’ fates once all new show pilots are previewed.
This time around, the producers and ANGEL creator Joss Whedon requested that the network make an early February call for renewal. Then-CEO Jordan Levin informed Whedon over dinner that ANGEL would be axed.
The WB had two highly anticipated potential genre series, Lost in Space and Dark Shadows, neither of which panned out, leaving a hole in the program schedule. Dark Shadows, in particular, was expected to be a drop-in replacement for ANGEL, but says Ancier, the production did not "gel."
Series "on the bubble" could go either way. This past season, two such genre shows, UPN's Star Trek: Enterprise and FOX's Tru Calling, were renewed just prior to the "Up Fronts" -- when networks showcase their Fall line-up for potential advertisers.
According to Ancier, there's still interest in doing special ANGEL TV movies, but that David Boreanaz would need some "coaxing" to return to the role.
Ancier's statements may be viewed as a way to distance his new WB administration from that of former CEO and chief programmer Jordan Levin, who resigned last month and was seen as responsible for the end of ANGEL.

David Boreanaz is on location filming a movie called "The Perfect Lie". He has been in San Bernardino at the Orange Show Speedway. He plays Lance, a race car driver and Paul Sorvino is his pit crew chief.

Ain't It Cool News reports:

You all know that finale-co-writing/directing “Angel” vet Jeff Bell is transferring over to “Alias” next season, yes? Well, ol’ “Intimately Familiar With The Situation” also reveals that “Buffy”/”Angel” superstar Drew Goddard (he co-wrote that last, brilliant Italy-set episode) is also migrating to “Alias”! So look for “Alias” to become perhaps the best show ever next season!

Another “Angel” superstar, Liz Craft (she and her superstar pard, Sarah Fain, wrote the five-star “Underneath,” aired a couple Wednesdays ago), recently mentioned in passing that the distaff scribe duo would be hooking up with the next season of FX’s “The Shield.” (Which is masterminded by yet another “Angel” vet, Shawn Ryan.)

Angel has been removed from TheWB.com

There was a rumor that NBC was going to bring back Angel, but it was fake.

Angel: The Complete Fourth Season will be released September 7th.

Jaime Bergman, David Boreanaz'z wife will be guest starring on the April 28th episode Time Bomb.

First ANGEL TV Movie May Hit in September

From Mediasharx.com - By Marcus Ferrell - 2004-04-23rd    Scooper ’Daybill’ returned with some news from the ANGEL front:

The WB is working on a new stand-alone telemovie, ANGEL, to air tentatively in September. The first two-hour pic is going to essentially launch the series as a sequence of films - different villain, different storyline, each one. The first is going to tie-in with the events of the series final episode. The season ender is going to go out with a huge cliffhanger, and we’ll have to wait till September to find out how it all ends. Eliza Dushku is in talks to appear in the telemovies, as Faith, the vampire slayer. Her series TRU CALLING isn’t going to be picked up for a second season, so I assume she jumped at it. What’s interesting is, Joss Whedon’s not going to have much to do with the first couple. He’s apparently doing a movie for Universal. Wonder how that’s going to go down with fans? I guess that big truck - which i again saw last week driving around - did something to save this show. How valid is this report? Well, Daybill hasn’t failed us before, but September seems like too quick a turnaround for a tv movie, although not altogether impossible. It’s possible that the first could be filmed after a short break, but I would think that the principal cast would want to get away from these characters for a while. The finale Daybill speaks of also lines up with an April 17 report from our friends over at Spoiler Slayer, where they said that the series will likely end on a cliffhanger. Joss Whedon’s lack of involvement - I wouldn’t be surprised. The movie Daybill speaks of is, of course, the film version of FIREFLY, which is being fasttracked at Universal. However, if these movies go forward, I have no doubt that some of the ANGEL/Mutant Enemy regulars will return. Updated: The boys and girls over at Whedonesque had a good point that contradicts the report (that I, I’m ashamed to say, didn’t think of) - some places have already reported that TRU CALLING will be picked up for another season, even though networks seem to like to mess with executive producers’ minds and tell them they’re being renewed when they haven’t been. Regardless, remember that this report is a rumor. Take nothing as absolute fact until you hear it from the Frog.

According to Kristin from E! online, Angel is not coming back. The sooner we all accept that, the sooner we can move on.

"It's over," James Marsters (Spike) told Kristin on Wednesday. "And we've known for a while. It was a shock. I've never in my wildest dreams thought they would do that. But it's their game, their football, and it seems they want to pass it to someone else."

Amy Acker (Fred) also said on Thursday before going to set for her final day of shooting. "I guess they had just sort of decided the cancellation was for good, at a point. So, it seems so sad all these people were working so hard and nothing happened. The whole thing has been so sweet, and we all have been like, 'Oh maybe it will work!' But it seems like they're pretty set in their way."

The WB suits aren't changing their minds on Angel.  The WB insiders tell Kristin the higher-ups feel strongly that Angel had "limited moneymaking potential," due to limited advertising revenue and what they consider to be a substantial budget. The fan base is clearly devoted, but these bigwigs see little hope of that audience expanding.

Meanwhile, UPN and Fox have both passed on Angel. UPN has a strict new edict not to pick up "other networks' scraps."  Even if they did want the show they can't afford it. As for Fox, they seem to be going for a slightly different maybe more reality shows.

The actors are learning to accept the show's fate and move on.  "I'm used to things being over," James said.  "Coming from theater, I'm used to plays being wonderful or less than wonderful, and even if they're fabulous, they do have to come to an end. And you kind of come to a point where you're at peace with that."

Amy admits she's the weepy one. "I just keep crying, and everyone is like, 'Stop it! Or I'll cry, too.' It's hard because last Friday was Alexis' last night, and yesterday was Andy's last day. And today will be everyone's. It's hard to imagine you won't be spending 12 hours a day with them anymore."

The Save Angel campaign may not have accomplished exactly what we'd hoped but James points out that it managed to do something extra special.

"It may not have saved the show," he explained, "but what it does for the entire cast and crew is give us a little pop as we go out.  Everyone takes notice that we connected well enough with the audience to give them that passion.  And I have to tell you it feels so good. After all these years of, frankly, battling time and money and always having to give up what you were planning to do and getting frustrated, at the end of it, to see everyone really going out of their way to try and save it, it just feels really, really good. So, big warm vampire fuzzies over here. It really took the sting out of getting cancelled."

"I just want to say to the fans, thank you," Amy says.  "I think that [Save Angel] has been so awesome and it has made us feel better when we've all been so sad. For people to come up and say 'Did you hear there's a rally today?' or 'I saw the big poster today.' That has been as comforting as it could ever be."

Sadly there are only six episodes of Angel left, but if anything we are going to see some familiar faces as the big ending gets closer.  According to the WB, we will see appearances by Juliet Landau (Dru), Julie Benz (Darla) and Tom Lenk (Andrew) plus we will find out what Buffy has been up to.

According to E Online, Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy) will not be returning for the series finale of Angel.  Joss Whedon (series creator in an interview with TV Guide Online) said he had hoped for her to appear in the second to last episode but he didn’t invite her for the finale (even though she was available for that).  He didn’t want the last episode to revolve around a guest star but be about the regulars that have survived and died together.

Gellar’s unavailability was due to her filming the horror flick The Grudge in Tokyo.  The episode has been shot and apparently wraps up the love triangle between Spike, Buffy and Angel.  Spike and Angel have come to an understanding and Buffy’s character has come to some sort of understanding.

The final two-part finale will air May 12 and 19.  Die hard fans still have not gave up, still striving hard with the Saving Angel campaign.  They will be having a rally at the Warner Brothers production offices in Burbank on March 31.

According to E Online’s Kristin Angel’s David Boreanaz really does feel for his fan’s “because they have been so supportive” but he is “looking forward to challenges” and “it’s time to try a whole new journey.”

Save Angel Campaign takes Flight
http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/TV/03/22/television.angel.reut/index.html

From BBC Cult TV:

Speaking to his official website, J. August Richards was the first of the cast to give their reactions to The WB's sudden cancellation of Angel. "First, I am gonna miss coming to work with the people, whom I've grown close to over the years, and I work with everyday. I am going to miss my character whom I have grown to love and thirdly I'm going to miss the worldwide Angel fans and family that has supported us," he said.

Asked about the show's future now, he was vague, saying, "There is already boost talk about doing Angel TV movies in the future but that's way in the future." However, he had a message of hope for Angel's fans.

"Thank you for supporting us, specifically me for the four years I have been on the show. I feel so grateful for that and having met so many of my fans around the world has truly been an amazing experience. Thanks for everything and I don't want to sound final because I don't feel this is final. The show is not airing next season but I don't feel its over."

An interview with Angel star David Boreanaz is online now at the TV Week site. Below are some snippets from the full interview :

"I really wasn't shocked or surprised [about the cancellation]. This is the way the business is. Like I said when I started the show, I worked on scene to scene, show to show....it was actually a big relief for me and, personally, it gave me a big sense of freedom. I felt like a big weight had been lifted from my shoulders."

"When you do 100 episodes and you?re carrying a show, it's a lot of pressure. People rely on you for their jobs...Yet you really owe it to yourself to examine what's right and what's wrong for you as an artist....So for me, I feel like, "Oh, I don't have to hold that cross anymore. As heavy as it may be or as light as it may be, it's not a negative. It's a good thing!"

"...I felt bad for the fans. When the producers took the show and re-tooled it in a way that took it in a different direction, it should have been the responsibility of the network to put a keen interest into it during that time. So I don't think they handled it in the classiest way. And the fans are the people the network really screwed over."

Charisma Carpenter has posed nude for Playboy. Apparently the 33 year old is very proud of her body since giving birth to her son Donovan (father is her husband of two years, Damian Hardy) last March 24th and prepared to show off her newly slimmed down body.  She has posed topless for the magazine.

A Letter from Joss Whedon

The Demon Rights Activist may look familiar to some soap opera fans.  Bryce Mouer played Rudy Delight on the "Bold and the Beautiful" and Johnny on "Days of our Lives."

TV Guide and Variety report today that The WB has picked up Angel for a full twenty-two episode season based on its positive performance over the last two weeks. According to Variety, the network had an option to cut back to 13 episodes if the show performed poorly this season. Lucky for fans - that hasn't been the case!

The January, special issue of In Style Weddings features on page 404 a Day of Wine &Roses with Amy Acker!  Amy got married last April 25th, 2003 to actor James Carpinello (he played Randy on "Felicity" and can next be seen in the flicks "The Punisher" and "The Great Raid").  The ceremony was held at the Hans Fahden Vineyard, and it had a 'hip, bohemian mood'. It was Amy's dream to be married in a garden.  The 65-member guest list included fellow cast mate Alexis Denisof and his bride-to-be (five months later) Alyson Hannigan.  You can check out the rest of the article and photos in the January issue of In Style Magazine on newsstands now.

Angel returns with a new episode January 14, 2004 with Harms Way.

David Boreanaz directed an episode called Soul Purpose airing January 21.

The shows 100th episode airs February 4 and is called You're Welcome.

Season 3 of Angel on DVD is available February 10, 2004.

Zap2it.com has listed James Marsters (Spike) as one of the years top 10 characters on television.

MSN has listed "Angel" at no. 3 of it's list of top ten Most Daring TV Shows of 2003.

Stephanie Romanov (Lilah) will play a widow in sci-fi thriller "Final Cut." The movie stars Robin Williams.

11/20/03 news

News: David Boreanaz will be directing the 10th episode of the season. The show will feature demon strippers.

According to "TV Gal" there's been some negativity to Spike presences on Angel saying he doesn't fit in. Give the guy a chance he did just arrive and everything about 'Angel' right now doesn't seem to fit. (That's my own opinion.) The Gal says the show is doing a good job of balancing Spike and the action around him they just need to add more chicks. Cordy left some big shoes to fit and lets not forget Lilah and no one seems to be clicking with Eve.

Alexis Denisof and Alyson Hannigan got married last weekend October 11, 2003 in Desert Hot Springs, California at the Two Bunch Palms.

On the BBC Buffy/Angel site you can read the text or watch the videos of an interview with David Boreanaz from a European Event.  Check it out at:   www.bbc.co.uk/cult/buffy/angel/interviews/boreanazevent/index.shtml

The third Season of Angel will be released on DVD in February of 2004.

Mercedes McNab (Harmony will become a regular sometime in the new year.
Juliet Landau (Drusilla) has already shot an episode that should air on November 19th.
It is confirmed that Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia) will return for one episode, maybe around the hundreth episode. Shooting will begin around the end of November. It doesn't look like Sarah Michelle Gellar will be doing any guest appearances this season.

Charisma Carpenter, who won't be returning as a regular cast member on The WB's Angel, spoke for the first time about her abrupt departure in an interview with the Boston Herald and said she was as shocked as anyone. "I was not prepared," Carpenter told the newspaper. "I don't think you're ever prepared for that kind of situation."  Carpenter played the acid-tongued Cordelia Chase for three years on Buffy the Vampire Slayer before moving over to The WB's spinoff series. "Seven years, that's a long time," she said. "I started that show. To not be finishing it is a pretty big deal for me. They went back to work on July 24. ... On that day I thought, 'Oh, today is officially my first day of unemployment.'"  Last spring, Carpenter returned to Angel just 10 days after giving birth to her son, Donovan, and spent two long days on the set, wrapping up the season, the newspaper reported. She said she is absolutely willing to return to the series to provide closure to her character's story arc and bring Cordy out of the coma in which she remained during last season's finale. "I think it would be incomplete if it wasn't addressed but I don't know what's being planned," she said. "I haven't heard anything. As we speak today, there are no plans for me to come back."

Angel and Spike are on the cover of the Sept 6 – 12 edition of TV Guide.  (US only)

Check out David Boreanaz in Dido’s new video for her song “White Flag”.

Unfortunately as of this date Charisma Charpenter has not filmed nor is scheduled to film any episodes of the fifth season of Angel.

According to Kristin of E! News the rumour of James Marsters (Spike) doing a nude scene on Angel is true and has already been shot.

Sarah Michelle Gellar (already noted) Alyson Hannigan and Juliet Landau will make guest appearances this season.

Angel Season 2 boxed DVD set was originally scheduled to be released on August 19th but has been rescheduled for September 2, 2003.

From Futoncritic.com: For those interested, the WB has "Angel" returning to the lineup on Wednesday, August 27:
8/27/03 79R Salvage
9/03/03 80R Release
In addition, the series' long awaited TNT run is set to begin Monday, September 29. I'm told episodes will run Monday-Friday at 5:00/4:00c and 11:00/10:00c however I won't know for sure until TNT's schedule is up next week. Also, local stations across the country are set to begin carrying repeats of "Angel" during the weekends that same week (October 4-5). Check your local listings to find exactly when/if it is showing in your area.

James Marsters will start filming a upcoming movie "Venetian Heat" beginning October 27, 2003 in Papigno, Italy. He will play a character named Adriano. Also starring in the movie are Patrick Dempsey, Sean Bean, Derek Jacob, Franco Nero and Rupert Evans. His band Ghost of the Robot just finished their European tour and they will be performing at the DragonCon convention on August 30th in Atlanta Georgia.
Charisma Carpenter will make a guest appearance on the new NBC show called "Miss Match" starring Alicia Silverstone. The episode will air on October 10th and Carpenter will play a high school pal of Silverstone's character.
Sarah Thompson (Boston Public) who's protraying Eve and Mercedes McNab (Harmony) have been signed for 6 episodes each. Eve has been considered a possible love interest for Angel.
Second episode of Angel will air Oct 15th and begins shooting Aug 5th. It was written by David Fury & Ben Edlund and directed by James A. Contner.
Joss Whedon is still trying to work out guest stops with Sarah Michelle Gellar; he's hoping for something around sweeps.
Whedon said the new season of ``Angel'' will emphasize stand-alone stories as opposed to the serial approach of previous seasons. Whedon, who's writing and directing the ``Angel'' season opener, said he's happy to be working on just one show.
Jeff Bell hopes this will not be the last season for Angel. He says he plans on doing the best 22 episodes he can so the WB will want another 22 episodes more. He hopes that Charisma Carpenter will return for a few episodes and they have plans on how she will come out of the coma.
Joss Whedon would like Charisma Carpenter to return so she can give closure to her character Cordelia story line. He knows what they want to do it will just depend on her schedule.

Filming of the season premiere en

titled 'Eve' will begin July 24th and the air date will be September 24th but I've also heard October 1st ( I'll let you know).
Reruns of Angel will be shown on the TNN network as of Fall 2003.

Alyson Hannigan said she would gladly guest star on Angel.  Also, Mercedes McNabb as Harmony will be back.

The writing staff of Angel have admitted that writing Spike into the show will be a challenge. Not only do they have to figure out how to get Spike to L.A., but then there is the unique dilemma of having two souled vampires on one show. They don't want to turn Spike into Angel because "he's not an interesting character being Angel, Spike is a morally ambiguous character". As quoted by David Fury.

Joining the writing team of Angel is Ben Edlund and Drew Goddard and leaving are Tim Minear and Mere Smith.
Vincent Kartheiser (Connor) has been contracted for only one episode, though we will probably see him again in the future. Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia) will no longer be a series regular but will appear on a recurring basis. Rumours are flying between her wanting to spend more time with her family and producers being upset that she hasn't lost her baby weight. I'm leaning more towards the idea of her wanting to be with her new husband and baby...

Eliza Dushku's (Faith) new show Tru Calling is set for the 2003-2004 season. It will been shown on Fox Thursday's at 8pm. Eliza plays Tru Davies a recent college graduate who finds herself working the midnight shift at the New York city morgue. She gets a chance to change the past for the victims. The executive producer/writer is Jon Feldman (American Dreams, Roswell and Dawson's Creek).

Anthony Stewart Head (Giles of Buffy) says he maybe crossing over to Angel. He has spoke to the writers about it and they thought it might be quite fun.

An all new Angel magazine will be released in August. Because of the success of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer magazine (now in it's 4th year) and the fifth coming season of Angel, Titan decided the show deserved it's own magazine. It will include interviews with the cast, plus news, exclusive reports and behind-the-scenes gossip.

Charisma Carpenter has began production for an ABC family comedy movie "See Jane Date" in Montreal, Canada. Playing some of her suitors are Antonio Sabato Jr. (Melrose PLace), Evan Marriott (Joe Millionaire), Zackary Levi (Less Than Perfect) and Geoff Stults (7th Heaven). It also co-stars Holly Marie Combs of Charmed.

The Saturn Awards were announced over the weekend. SF TV Awards went to:

David Boreanaz (Angel) Best Television Actor.
Alyson Hannigan (Buffy) best supporting actress.
Faces of the Future Award went to Nathan Fillion (Firefly) and Emma Caulfield (Buffy)

Buffy and Angel are on the cover of the March newsstand edition of TV Guide!

May 12th Marsters joining Angel cast!

Angel has been renewed for another season!!

May 13th is the date we are waiting for to find out if Angel will be renewed for a fifth season.  If (fingers crossed) it is picked up, we may (and hopefully) see Alyson Hannigan (Willow) and Eliza Dushku (Faith) in guest appearances.

Tim Minear, a writer for the show is leaving Angel to write for a new Fox show Wonder Falls.

From TVGuide online: SOMETHING TO CROW ABOUT: David Boreanaz -- whose bloody brilliant WB drama Angel has yet to be picked up for a fifth season -- has signed on to play the lead bad guy in the fourth installment of the Crow film series, titled Wicked Prayer. Dennis Hopper and Eddie Furlong co-star in pic, which starts shooting in June.

Nominations for the Portal Genre Awards for 2003 are:

Best Actor/TV David Boreanaz
Best Supporting Actor/TV Alexis Denisof
Best Theme Song/TV Angel
Best Series/tTV Angel
Best Young Actor Vincent Karteiser, Angel
Gene Roddenberry Lifetime Achievement Award for writer and director Joss Whedon

50th Hugo Awards Nominations Announced:

Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form Angel, "Waiting in the Wings".
Joss Whedon has also been nominated for two other awards.

Though the return of Angel for a fifth season is still unknown, a positive note is the WB is excited over the possibility of the return of Buffy actors to their network which may help the renewal of Angel.  Fingers crossed!

James Marsters, Spike of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, says he thinks he's joining the Angel cast and there is talk of him doing just that.

It is still unclear if the end of Buffy will relate to the happenings on Angel.

A little bio about Jasmine (Gina Torres), the big bad and the spawn Cordelia birthed. She was born in 1969 and is a Cuban American. She is married to actor Laurence Fishburne as of September 2002. You may recognize her from another Joss Whedon creation, "Firefly" (as Zoe Warren) and Alias (as Anna Espinosa), as well as "Hercules; Legendary Journey's (as Nebula).

Charisma Carpenter and her husband Damian Hardy welcomed their baby boy into the world late Monday March 24th at 9:50pm at Cedar Sinai Hospital in Beverly Hills. The baby weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces and his name is Donavan Charles Hardy. Both mom and baby are doing fine.

In less happy news, Angel was not one of the six shows renewed on the WB. The fate of the show should be revealed in May. You can help with a renew Angel campaign at http://www.renewangel.com . This website was created by fans for fans who want to see the show return for the fifth season.

Angel has received 5 nominations from the 29th Annual Saturn Awards. The categories are "Best Network Television Series", "Best Actor in a Television Series" (David Boreanaz), "Best Actress in a Television Series" (Charisma Carpenter) "Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series" (Alexis Denisof) and "Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series" (Amy Ackers).

Joss Whedon says he's pitching a new angle of the show to the WB. These changes could hopefully include some Sunnydale residents. Whedon is concerned for his fans that are worried that Angel could be on it's last season. Though he still can't say Angel's been picked up for a fifth season he does say it hasn't been cancelled either. He doesn't sound worried, saying that "Angel has proven itself a strong and consistent performer for the network".

Though rumors were flying that David Boreanaz had allegedly signed a three-picture, $30 million deal with Warner Bros and was going to play Superman, they are untrue. Apparently David had a meeting with the Superman's casting people and they discussed the time required to shoot both Angel and Superman. It was decided to be impossible; he couldn't do both projects. Though it sounds like David would still like a chance for the part.

Joss Whedon stands by his show and is confident that Angel will stick around after this year even though The WB is still hemming and hawing over it.

Eliza Dushku has been offered her own show. It was originally called 'Heroine' but the creators are rethinking the name. She'll play a girl who works in a morgue and receives messages from the dead about their death and then she has to relive the day to make things right.

Since the Buffy The Vampire Slayer series is officially ending, they are planning a big blow out. Look for a guest appearance from David Boreanaz as Angel.

Previous news:

Angel has yet to be picked up for season 5 on The WB. The decision will have to be made by the end of this season when their options expire. The prez would like to see it stick around, though. Saying "We're hopeful that it will perform and it will continue on The WB, I think Joss Whedon really found the show last season; I think it's improved creatively this season." Some cast members to return are Groo (Mark Lutz). He's in 'talks' for an episode or two. As said before, Faith (Eliza Dushku) will be back in episode 13 and we will also see the electrifying Gwen (Alexa Davalos) again. Now for the good and the bad news. Good news first, classy and cool Lorne (Andy Hallet) is officially a "cast member". Bad news is a major cast member will die that will leave Wesley devastated. In spoiler related news, an upcoming episode will leave Los Angeles literally in the dark. Angelus to return? It sounds like it, but the gang will have him under lock and key while Wesley holds Angel's soul in a box.

Alexis Denisof (Wesley Wyndam-Pryce of Angel) and Alyson Hannigan (Willow of Buffy the Vampire Slayer) just got engaged. Alexis popped the question to Alyson as they were having a romantic picnic in California Napa Valley while both shows were on Christmas break. They plan to marry in California in September or October. The couple first met when Alexis 36, solved mysterious with Alyson and the gang on Buffy.

Angel and the gang are made an offer they can't refuse when they are given the opportunity to take over Wolfram & Hart and obtain all of the firm's secret and powerful information.  Angel has a chance to change the future for his son, who is physically and emotionally lost and wandering the streets of L.A

It seems since Conner and Jasmine share the same blood, Conner has always seen Jasmine as her true rotting self but has seen worse and doesn't judge people on looks. He just wants to be part of a family and Jasmine's lies seem nicer than everyone else's.

Angel going to Sunnydale: Angel accepts an offer from W& H that gives him a chance to save both Conner and Buffy. He receives a file marked "Sunnydale" which includes the famous amulet that Spike ends up trapped in the Hellmouth with.

In the next episode Peace Out, Angel kills Jasmine and frees the world of their eternal happiness. This impresses the Senior Partners of Wolfram&Hart (for causing more pain then good) and wanting to keep him around they offer him an office. Cordy will continue to be in a coma but will be taken care of by W&H.

The critically acclaimed ANGEL winds up a fantastic season with Angel's trip to another dimension to battle a monster and the return of an old nemesis everyone thought was dead on April 30. The explosive season finale airs on May 7. (From The WB)

On an upcoming episode, called Sacrifice, airing April 23rd, there will be a sacrifice. Joss Whedon is notorious for killing off key characters, so this could be a little scary. According to E!'s Kristen, Vincent Kartheiser (Connor) will be back next season, if there is a next season. So who can it be?

On the next episode (April 16th) there will be a funny moment between father and son doing a little karaoke dedication for Jasmine.

Look for the return of Stephanie Romanov (Lilah) in the season finale "Home" airing May 7th.

Look for the return of Darla and Skip on April 2nd in the episode Inside Out. Conner gets a chance to confront his dead mother. Conner's birth, Cordelia's ascension to the higher plane, Angel turning into Angelus and Cordelia's pregnancy are all part of a higher being's plan to create something even more powerful then itself.

Spoiler: Cordelia's real body will be discovered unconscious. A new character Jasmine (Gina Torres) will be introduced and will be on for at least 3 episodes (if not more). She will tell the gang she can help them with Cordy. She will brainwash everyone and be worshipped. Fred will not be affected by Jasmine and will discover the real evil that she is.

The Angel Investigation gang will be uprooted again. Their living condition and everything is going to change.

Rumors have it that in the future Angel could become human which would turn the show in a totally different direction.

WE WERE WRONG: Angel stays on the WB @ a NEW TIMESLOT
Angel will now be shown on the WB on Mondays: Check out the rest of the WB NEW fall 2001 schedule HERE
also ... WB SLAYED BY ANGEL: There were some tense moments at the WB's fall schedule presentation to advertisers Tuesday in New York when Angel star David Boreanaz — feigning bewilderment — appeared on-stage and uttered: "This isn't the UPN." The crack — a reference to sister show Buffy the Vampire Slayer moving to the Smackdown network — seemed to catch WB co-president Jordan Levin off guard. "We didn't write that," he told the packed room. The spirit of Buffy loomed large during the three-hour gathering — despite the network's best efforts to downplay the loss. "Buffy will always be a show close to our hearts," acknowledged Levin's partner, Susanne Daniels. "But we saw the [show's] teen audience begin to erode... and we're confident in our ability to refresh our schedule." Of the WB's new crop of shows previewed, Smallville, an hour drama about a teenage Superman, received the best reception, and Raising Dad, a sitcom starring Full House alum Bob Saget, the worst.

FINALLY - THE NEWS: The Future of Angel on the WB

MORE ON THE WB'S CANCELLATION OF 'ANGEL,' 'ROSWELL' AND 'POPULAR' --  we received confirmation on news that the WB will indeed cancel sophomore dramas "Angel," "Roswell," and "Popular" when it announces its schedule next Tuesday. A few sources say they received this information earlier this week however it wasn't until I had confirmation from my reliable network sources that I posted the news.Furthermore, Variety reported on Friday that all three of these series (plus "Buffy the Vampire Slayer") would be removed from the WB's schedule indefinitely beginning in June in favor of additional airings of "7th Heaven," "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch," and "Popstars" plus a new movie night on Tuesday from Warner Bros. library of titles. Even if all my sources were incorrect, that news alone should tell you the WB has no interest in keeping these series on its schedule any longer than May sweeps.

THE FUTURE OF 'ANGEL'
UPN is now obligated to pick up the show for two seasons and the network will keep the series in its Tuesday, 9/8c time slot with "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" remaining as its lead-in. THE FUTURE OF 'ROSWELL'
With the WB out of the picture, rumors persist that UPN is considering picking up the series although I wouldn't count on it. With its Monday comedies virtually guaranteed to return, a Tuesday night of "Buffy" and "Angel," Wednesdays devoted to "Seven Days" or "Special Unit 2" and the latest "Star Trek" series, wrestling owning Thursday nights and a highly successful movie night carrying Fridays, UPN simply doesn't have the space to pick up "Roswell." Furthermore with no plans to expand beyond Monday-Friday (although if the XFL does return UPN may still carry the Sunday games) plus an already highly hyped drama series in development ("The Dead Zone") not to mention a large backlot of reality series ("Manhunt," "Off Limits," "Road Rage"), even a limited run of 13 episodes is likely out of the question. THE FUTURE OF 'POPULAR'
The series simply lived and died at the WB although undoubtedly most the cast will find work elsewhere. THE TOP TEN LEAST VALUABLE SERIES -- On Friday we talked about which series have helped increase its respective network's ratings over the course of the 2000-2001 season versus last season. Today we'll look at the flip side of the equation. Truth be told, not too many series manage to increase its network's ratings - only 46 of the 157 series that have aired this season have accomplished this feat - nevertheless, those sitting at the bottom can potentially do disastrous damage to the network it airs on. Many of the series on this list have been canceled (or will shortly be canceled) so I'd be wary if your favorite show appears on this list.

No Angel Rurun's during the Summer on the WB  According to this article will be no reruns of Angel or Buffy during the summer. The WB will be having some sort of movie night on Tuesday nights. Here is an article from Variety. Get ready for "Sabrina" vs. "Sabrina." In a trick that Melissa Joan Hart's character might have conjured up, ABC has scheduled the repeat made-for-TV picture "Sabrina, Down Under" on Friday, May 25, at 8 p.m. -- smack opposite two episodes of "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" on the WB. That puts ABC back in the Friday "Sabrina" business, at least for one night. "Sabrina" aired there for four years before the comedy moved to the WB last year. ABC, however, still held the repeat rights to "Sabrina Down Under," which first aired in the "Wonderful World of Disney" Sunday time slot back in September 1999. Meanwhile, back-to-back Friday night episodes of "Sabrina," followed by a double dose of "Pop Stars," are just two of the WB's summer scheduling plans. The WB will also double pump "7th Heaven" on Mondays. And the network has told affiliates it plans to launch a movie night starting this June, either on Tuesday or Wednesday nights. Titles loaned to the WB from sister cable channel Turner Broadcasting include "The Breakfast Club," "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer." A Tuesday movie would pre-empt drama defector "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel." WB insiders said no plan had been finalized -- but it's a good bet the WB, which loses "Buffy" this fall -- will probably move that drama to a less desirable slot.

New "Angel" Cast Member????  If executive producer David Greenwalt has it his way, actor Adrian Pasdar (Mysterious Ways) will become a part of the cast of Angel.
While talking to Zap2It, Greenwalt revealed, "We've been dying to bring him to Angel. It's a thing I've tried to work out a couple of times, and it's just a mammoth scheduling problem. But I would love to see him appear in Wolfram & Hart. It would make a lot of sense."
Currently, the actor is committed to Mysterious Ways, which runs on the NBC TV network as well as the Pax cable network.  Meanwhile, when asked about how the Buffy jumping to UPN situation effects Angel... staying put or following, Greenwalt says, "My thoughts are, we'll be in a good home either way. It's all good."

Did you all here the big news? The WB wouldn’t pay FOX the exorbitant sums required to keep Buffy, so the show is moving to UPN! UPN ordered two more seasons of the show. Angel, for the time being, is staying put on the WB. Though if the WB chooses to cancel the show, UPN (as part of the Buffy deal) is required to pick it up for two seasons. Not sure what this will mean for Roswell—it’s been rumored that the WB would only renew the sci-fi angst show (also produced by FOX) as part of a deal to keep Buffy.   For more read here..  Angel Stays Put

Spoilers from Cathy updated 4/20/04

According to sources, the finale is supremely open-ended (Amy says it "opens new doors" and "doesn't tie up any strings"), and Kristin hears the WB have approached Joss Whedon about doing at least a movie-of-the-week or two (possibly as many as six) next season--thanks in large part to the folks at Save Angel. "I think a Buffy movie, or an Angel movie-of-the-week is more likely to happen now," James said, "and they may be given better budgets, seeing this kind of interest, because there's a feeling that there's a guaranteed audience. So, the effort that I've seen, it is not in vain.

Alyson Hannigan, Michelle Trachtenberg and Sarah Michelle Gellar really are not coming back.  They had to decline because of other commitments. Alyson was doing a play and a new pilot, Michelle a Disney movie, and S.M.G. had scheduling conflicts.

About the finale James said.  "The characters are in self-doubt and self-conflict and at each other's throats.  I really didn't think there was any way for these characters to overcome what they were facing, frankly. And it's really suspenseful as to whether they can or can't. It's gonna be bloody, and people are going to get hurt. It's a Joss Whedon finale, man--blood and tears and death."

From BBC Online:  Fans will be disappointed to hear that Sarah Michelle Gellar will not be reprising her role of Buffy Summers in the final episode of Angel.

Gellar was reportedly asked to appear in the penultimate episode which airs in the US on May 5th, but she was working on her upcoming supernatural movie The Grudge at the time.

She was free to appear in the finale, due to be screened on May 19th, but Angel executive producer Joss Whedon, talking to TV Guiide explained that he didn't want the send-off to "revolve around a guest star."

He said: "We will deal with the issue of Buffy and how much she means to Angel and Spike, but I want to end the show with the people who've been in the trenches together, the characters who have lived and occasionally died together - the regulars."

The penultimate episode will reportedly resolve the Angel-Spike-Buffy triangle, though Gellar won't appear, producers revealed.

Executive producer Jeffrey Bell said: "Angel and Spike arrive at an understanding. That's all I'll say about that. And without her being involved, Buffy's character has come to some sort of understanding, too."

www.renewangel.com Is a website devoted to the saving of the series Angel.
Jeff Bell, co-executive producer of the WB's recently canceled vampire series Angel, told SCI FI Wire that upcoming episodes will focus on Lindsey (Christian Kane) and Connor (Vincent Kartheiser). The episodes, "Underneath" and "Origin," were already in production when the WB made its fateful announcement about Angel's fate.
"Lindsey showed up and then disappeared quite quickly and we get to a place where we think, 'You know what? We need information,'" Bell said in an interview. "And so we bust Lindsey out of hell. It's sort of The Great Escape, with our guys going in and trying to find Lindsey so we can find out what he knows about us being at Wolfram & Hart. So we've got Lindsey and Eve [Sarah Thompson] front and center in that, and we also bring in a new character. Adam Baldwin is going to do a few episodes for us as a representative of Wolfram & Hart. He'll be a contrast to Eve. It's male-female, big-small."
Bell then revealed that "Origin" will feature the return of Angel's (David Boreanaz) son Connor. "Vincent has agreed to come in and do a new episode for us, and we're going to see the result of the deal that Angel made at the end of last season," Bell said. "It'll be fun to have Connor show up as a really happy, healthy and well-adjusted kid, the kid he could never be in season four. And for Angel there will be the pain of knowing this is his son, but that nobody else can know that."

Spoilers from “TV Tome”
Angel and Spike return from England defeated, knowing that the ancient demon Illyria has completely taken over Fred's body and soul. Upon learning that Knox and Gunn have each contributed to her demise, Wesley is bent on revenge and Angel tries everything to restore Fred, including calling on an old friend from Sunnydale. Meanwhile, Illyria tries to locate an ancient temple where she believes she will find an army ready to help her destroy mankind.

According to Zap2it's TV Gal, we will learn that Lindsay is the power behind the corporealization of the Spike and will become his ally. Lindsey believes it is Spike, not Angel who is supposed to be the new vampire with soul champion.

Kristen from E! Online spills that Lindsay will be sticking around for at least three episodes! He (Christian Kane) and David Boreanaz are friends in real life and Kristen says David wants him back for good so we'll keep our fingers crossed.

Wesley will have some problems with evil children's puppets.

Ain't it Cool News reports that we'll see poor Fred go through some "setbacks"? Joss  Whedon will be writing and directing that episode.

Tom Lenk (Andrew of Buffy) is set to guest in a few episodes soon.  He'll arrive in LA as part of the Watcher's Council, with about a dozen Slayers.

2003 news:

According to David Fury, Lilah is currently "burning in hell," and there are no current plans to bring Stephanie Romanov back. Romanov will play a widow in sci-fi thriller "Final Cut." The movie stars Robin Williams.

11/6 Angel spoilers
Wesley's father Rogerr Wydam-Price will arrive to evaluate his son in order to readmit him into the Watcher's Council. Roger is unhappy
with his son's career choices and his hoping to redeem Wesley and take back the good family name. Of course Wesley will have none of that. I
believe this episode will air November 12.
There will be flashbacks in the near future which can only mean seeing Angelus in action again.

Spike will be corporeal soon so look for his role with W&H to expand. The universe isn's happy with two vampires with soul romping about.

Note:
UPN is showing reruns of Angel at 9pm on Saturday nights.

David Boreanaz, told SCI FI Wire that two new women will add bite to the show's upcoming fifth season: new office secretary Harmony (Mercedes McNab) and Wolfram & Hart liaison Eve (Sarah Thompson). Boreanaz added in an interview that the women would replace the comatose Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) and beheaded Lilah (Stephanie Romanov), both of whom won't be back. "They're similar in nature, but also quite different," Boreanaz said.

Boreanaz added, "Cordelia's character took off in a direction that was different from what anyone probably expected. Things got very dark with the love interest story between Angel and Cordelia and with the whole Cordelia-Connor [Vincent Kartheiser] storyline. Harmony will be a little bit more like Cordelia was at the beginning of Buffy than Cordelia was on Angel. Harmony is there to spice things up a little."

Boreanaz said that McNab's Harmony—by virtue of being a vampire and having a history with Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer—will bring an "edge" to Angel. Eve, by contrast, will be less harsh and abrasive than Lilah, the star said. "I think we'll get to know Eve a little bit more," Boreanaz said. "She's got many more problems behind her eyes. But you can definitely draw similarities between Cordelia and Harmony and Lilah and Eve. And the most important thing is that all four characters will and have brought such great things to the show."

Spike will become whole again around episode 7.

There may be a little rekindling between Spike and Harmony later on in
the season.

Angel will do it's first Hallowe'en theme episode. Something happens to
Lorne that makes everyone do as he says. There will be a party where
Eve shows up in a sexy costume and has a verbal battle with Angel.

In an article from E! News, Kristin revealed a rumour that says James Marsters may do a scene in the nude this season.  When talking with James Marsters himself, he said,  “Angel is just edgier. There's less talking about your feelings and a little more action. That, and they have better coffee." Speaking about Spike and Angel’s relationship he said, "They can't stand each other. Spike knows Buffy really loves Angel and not him.  So, he hates Angel, of course. And Angel knows Spike's been there more recently, so he's going to hate Spike. At the same time, it's complicated, because there's a lot of love down there, too." His appearance on Angel will stay the same.  James says about his hair "The bleach makes my hair straight, which is nice because my hair was curly before--actually an Afro. However, this season, Spike's attitude will be different. “Over on the other show, Spike was at the end very heartfelt, sincere, trying hard to gain redemption," James said. "And that's still true underneath it, but the main thing here is Spike is just making life very difficult for Angel. I get to be very funny and snide and just an absolute jerk and completely selfish--and that's just wonderful to play." He continues,  "I've heard a lot [from fans] that they wanted the old Spike.  They wanted a lot more flavor of the bad boy, and that's right where we're living now. So, anybody who was tired of Spike being lovey-dovey and all sorry for the bad things he did, tune in to Angel. You're gonna get your Spike back." Still, the big change with Spike will be that he is a ghost. "Yeah, for a bit," James said  "The main thing is I always lean against walls 'cause it looks cool--and it's easier than standing up, which in a 16-hour day becomes a big deal. I can't do that as a ghost." He paused for a moment to laugh at his own self-pity. "I tell you, it's really hard work here. I have to stand up." James, who just finished touring Europe with his band, Ghost of the Robot, also revealed the Angel producers are "cooking up" a love interest for him, but "they haven't decided who, and they're really not asking my advice." Other than that, he's not revealing any other details other then he adds: "This show is going to hell."

Buffy is momentarily in Europe. Everytime Spike unexpectively disappears, he is being sucked towards hell, so Fred decides to help him. Spike falls for Fred.

Sarah Thompson (Boston Public) who's portraying Eve, and Mercedes McNab (Harmony), have been signed for 6 episodes each. Eve has been considered a possible love interest for Angel.
Spike will be in the second episode called Just Rewards and he will be a ghost.
Joss Whedon would like Charisma Carpenter to return so she can give closure to her character Cordelia story line. He knows what they want to do it will just depend on her schedule. Spike will return in the first Angel episode and the amulet he was holding when he died will play a role in his revival. By the end of the second episode we will know what he's doing there and what part he will play in the ensemble.
Second episode of Angel will be entitled Spiked and will focus on Spikes return. It will air Oct 15th and begins shooting Aug 5th. It was written by David Fury & Ben Edlund and directed by James A. Contner.

J. August Richards "Charles Gunn" will go through a transformation that was foreshadowed in the season finale. We will find out early on what it is just not necessarily what it means.

James Marsters "Spike" return will be complicated. He's the second vampire with a soul, and died saving the world so his return could be human, a ghost or what ever Joss conjures up. He will still have a soul and he and Angel will continue not to get along. We also know that he will certainly stir things up and cause havoc for Angel and the gang, which is all the more fun for the fans.
The series finale of 'Buffy' where females around the globe were given super strength will eventual affect "Angel". The fact that there are other slayers now will be dealt with.
This is a summary of the first episode of Angel Season 5.

It's called "Conviction" and it will guest star Mercedes McNab (reprising her role as Harmony Kendall) and Jonathan M. Woodward as Knox. It has been written by Joss Whedon.

After settling into his new job at Wolfram & Hart (with Harmony as his secretary), Angel meets a young lady named Eve, who claims that she is the new liaison between him and the Senior Partners. She reveals that in order for him to do good in LA, he will have to be prepared to do some bad too.

Angel is forced to prevent a criminal from going to jail, when he threatens to drop a chemical warfare virus, that could ultimately destroy California. Meanwhile, a very shifty Gunn undergoes a painful medical procedure at the hands of a Wolfram & Hart doctor.

Air date October 8, 2003.

The second episode (not yet titled) will again guest star Mercedes McNab (Harmony) and will deal with the return of Spike. This episode is written by David Fury and Ben Edlund. Air date October 15, 2003.

Spike will return in the first Angel episode and the amulet he was holding when he died will play a role in his revival. By the end of the second episode we will know what he's doing there and what part he will play in the ensemble.

A new character named Eve will be introduced in the first episode. She's young and similar looking to Lilah whom it looks like she will be replacing. She's a Wolfram & Hart employee that is a liaison between Angel and the branch offices and reports to the senior partners. She lets Angel know what his job is, which is keeping his demon an evil clients happy. Eve has a hand in the return of Spike who will not be arriving as a human. Also stated Angel and Spike will not be getting along. Filming of the season premiere entitled 'Eve' will begin July 24th and the air date will be September 24th but I've also heard October 1st ( I'll let you know). Stephanie Romanov will not be returning this season.
