"Leverage"
review by Suzanne
Returns Sunday, June 26 at 9/8c on TNT
This is one of my
favorite shows. First of all, the cast is excellent. They each play very
distinct types of people, but they always surprise you as well. The
stories are great, and the writing is just top notch. It is a great balance of
comedy, drama, action and adventure. Even though it's a "realistic"
normal, every-day show, it is the kind of show that science fiction fans love
because of its many references to scifi shows (mostly from Hardison), and also
because it's just a cool, fun show. It reminds me of some of the old spy or
thief shows like Man from UNCLE or It Takes a Thief or Wild Wild West.
These were all very cool shows that involve a small group of people working to
protect someone or to take down the bad guys.
This season returns with its usual great episode, "The Long Way
Down Job". The team is in the mountains with a bunch of rich businessman. They
are trying to track down the body of a missing man whose journal could bring
down some really big, bad, business people. The basic story is not really that
important because what always matters in this show is the big con they use to
pull the wool over the bad guys' eyes, and the interplay between the characters.
In this show, there is some additional intrigue from the physical danger of
being on an icy mountain.
Daniel Stoltz, who is always amazing, guest-stars as the
business man they are trying to find. There are a lot of recognizable faces in
the episode. Also, Parker and Eliot are paired together unexpectedly. It
results in a very touching story. It is a show that is always well worth
watching, and I can't wait to see how the rest of the season goes!
UPDATE: The August 14th episode is "The Grave Danger Job". The
Leverage crew aims their sights on a charming funeral director who embezzles
money from her grieving mourners and then sells the identities of the recently
deceased to a deadly Mexican drug cartel. The episode is great, especially for
fans of Hardison and Parker. There is a really great action scene, too.
It's the usual good stuff from "Leverage"! You will enjoy it, no question! Some
great acting, especially from Aldis Hodge (Hardison) and Beth Riesgraf (Parker),
along with the usual comedy.
Another Update: The next three episodes of "Leverage" are great.
I really enjoyed them. Then again, I love this show. It never disappoints. The
acting is amazing, and the plot has great twists and turns. The show always has
a great tongue-in-cheek quality, yet they never go so far that it gets silly.
They really have fun.
The second episode is my favorite because it's a hilarious spooof of "The
Office". All of the episodes are great, though. Enjoy them!

TNT's hit series LEVERAGE, will return on Sunday, June 26th at 9 p.m.
(ET/PT)
The fourth season of LEVERAGE opens in epic fashion with "The Long Way
Down Job" as the team heads to the rugged mountains of Alaska to help a
woman whose husband has disappeared, possibly as a victim of foul play.
More than any previous job, this one will push the LEVERAGE team to the
edge of endurance in one of the world's harshest terrains, where a single
wrong step could send them plunging into an almost certain death.
The second episode "The 15 Minutes Job" is very enjoyable. An
old politician friend of Nate's comes to him because someone is setting him up
to look bad. The group targets this man, a "crisis management expert", whose job
it is to destroy people. The team figures out quite quickly that he could
easily be one of them because he's so smart, and so anonymous, and good at his
job. Nate in particular identifies with him, just as goes after him.
The others are worried, particularly Sophia, that Nate is being too reckless in
going after the man. It's a really intriguing episodes as they work hard
to destroy the man who is so good at destroying others.
More info:
Michael Gladis will guest star in the July 10th episode of LEVERAGE,
"The 15 Minute Job".
In the episode, "The 15 Minutes Job," the LEVERAGE crew goes after Reed
Rockwell (Gladis) a public relations and crisis management expert who does
more than defend his clients; he attacks their enemies. And now he has his
sights on one of Natešs childhood friends.
"The 15 Minutes Job" premieres Sunday, July 10, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT).
