Primetime Show Reviews
"The Finder"
review by Suzanne
Premieres Thursday, January 12 9/8C on FOX
This is a mystery show, but quirky and fun. It's from the same
guy who created "Bones", Hart Hanson, and in fact, the original pilot for the
show was on "Bones", so it's sort of a spin-off in that sense. I enjoyed
"Bones" episode, and also this new episode airing on Thursday. It's a very
laid-back, mellow show, although it does have plenty of action as well.
I love Geoff Stults, who plays the lead guy, Walter, who finds
things because his brain is messed up. He was injured in the war and is now very
paranoid, but his brain injury allows him to see patterns and things that other
people don't see that can help find lost things or people. In the pilot, he
finds a boy's missing pilot dad, among other things.
In
the "Bones" episode, Walter hung out with Leo, played by Michael Clarke Duncan.
Leo thinks that Walter has a "gift", so that's why he helps him. They were
also assisted by a tough woman named Ike (Saffron Burrows). However, now Ike is
gone, and replaced by two other women. One is a teen, Willa, who has a tough
past and works at Walter's bar. The other is Isabel, who is U.S. Marshall.
The show works fine, but personally, I think Saffron Burrows had a lot more
spark and charisma than any of the other people. Apparently they couldn't make
it work with her for some reason. Too bad.
Give the show a chance. It has a lot of fun and action. It's
like "Bones" but without the dead bodies. You could sip a mai-tai and put on
your Parrothead and watch this one for a casual night.
"An Orphan Walks Into A Bar"
WALTER SHERMAN IS ENLISTED TO FIND A MISSING FATHER ON THE
SERIES PREMIERE OF “THE FINDER” THURSDAY, JANUARY 12, ON FOX
THU JAN 12 9/8c
After recovering John Fogerty’s (guest-starring as himself)
beloved guitar, Iraq veteran Walter Sherman (Geoff Stults) helps a teenage boy
(guest-star Brett Davern) locate his missing father, a military pilot and war
hero whose plane vanished after embarking on an undisclosed mission. Walter
turns to Deputy U.S. Marshal Isabel Zambada (Mercedes Mashn) for insider
information about the missing colonel, which links the lost plane to a
high-level drug dealer and illegal cargo. But when Walter forms an unlikely
connection with the missing father, he not only locates the fallen aircraft, but
he and Leo (Michael Clarke Duncan) uncover the real purpose of the flight and
help the teenage boy find closure. Meanwhile at the Ends of the Earth Bar, owner
Leo and Walter keep a watchful eye on Willa (Maddie Hasson), a teenager on
parole from juvenile detention and employed at the bar as part of her probation,
on the series premiere of THE FINDER.
