"The Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the next Pussycat Doll" is
a
new reality competition show on The CW. Out of thousands of girls, at
auditions
across the country, a core group of 18 girls were chosen to move on to the
semi-final round.
The competition is hosted by Mark McGrath and held at
Los
Angeles’ Warner Grand Theater.
Robin Anton, creator of the Pussycat Dolls, serves as mentor to the
girls.
To narrow down the group of 18 to the main nine finalists that will live
together and train each week until one remains, the 18 girls were divided
into
three groups of six to work on a song and dance routine together. They
were
coached by Mikey Menden, choreographer, John Beasley, music director, and
Eric
Dawkins as an extra singing coach.
After being treated to a concert by the
current Pussycat Dolls and the opportunity to meet them afterwards, the
lead
singer Nicole Scherzinger joined the panel to judge the final
performances.
This reality show has the typical drama that goes along with groups of
women
in close quarters competing against each other for something they find so
important. The only thing I didn’t care for is while they made such a
big deal
about making the girls perform, despite a stomach virus passing around the
group, they only chose one of the then-sick girls to move on.
