Elizabeth
07-25-05
10. Eve
Guthrie. She had a rare blood disease and was in the hospital
when she died. Ed turned off her life support machines, making her
death the first doctor assisted suicide on
Guiding Light in 1995.
9. H.B.
Lewis. Though he was old, H.B.’s
death in 1997 came as sad news for longtime viewers. His character
was a true & loyal friend something rare in the town of Springfield.
8. “Pops”
Cooper. He died from the 5th Street fire in 1990
which was a surprise to all. The backbone of the Cooper Clan at the
time, his death hit Frank & Harley especially hard.
7. Carl
Stevens. In 1998, a young Lizzie Spaulding killed Carl who was
her mother’s boyfriend. Who can forget the episode where we all
found out who the real killer was? Lizzie was having pretend tea,
with the recently deceased Carl. What an amazing episode! Her role
in Carl’s death was also brought into play when years later her
father was murdered.
6. Maureen
Bauer. She was killed in a car crash back in the winter of 1993
shortly after finding out about her husband’s affair with Lillian
Raines. She left behind two children and a husband racked with
guilt.
5. Maryanne
Caruthers. Though she was killed way back in 1977, no one knew
about it. When the writers brought forth this story it changed the
way some of the main men in Springfield were viewed.
4. Roger
Thorpe. Who could forget one of Guiding Light’s best villains?
Though his death was nothing exciting, it did come as a shock for
loyal viewers. The most exciting & shocking thing to come from this
was without a doubt, the arrival of his son, Sebastian into
Springfield.
3. Paul
Holden. In 1938 Paul was killed by his wife, making it the first
ever murder on Guiding Light.
2. Phillip
Spaulding. Though the true killer was recently just announced,
more than six months after the shot that rang through Springfield
this death rocked and still rocks the bedrock of the town. Everyone
became a suspect, and pitted the Spaulding’s against the Cooper’s
once more.
1. Reva
Shayne. Though she didn’t ‘officially’ die, she was presumed
dead. Her drive off the Florida bridge in
1990 was tragic as her husband had to watch in horror as the car she
was in slowly sank. He never fully got over her ‘death’ and even
uprooted his family year later when he believed she was living in
Italy.
