OBSERVATIONS:
My column is titled Random Thoughts etc. and this week that is exactly what
it will be, so please hang in there with me.
First, bravo to JR Martinez on DWTS. Not only is he a wonderful dancer, but
he is also a very nice man. I had the honor of meeting him a few years ago
before AMC moved out west. I went down to the AMC studios and had an opportunity
to talk to him twice that day. I have been a fan of DWTS for a while now and
usually vote for a few stars over the course of the show until I settle on my
final choice. This season I have cast all my votes for only one person, that is
JR.
The other night I could not sleep, as I am an insomniac. I turned on SOAPnet
at 3 am and started to watch an old episode of AMC. This episode must have been
right at the beginning of the Satin Slayer storyline. There were a few things I
noticed about the episode.
In the opening credits (when they were using the turning pictures) many of the cast were gone at the end of the show. I am not talking about
Palmer or Myrtle (who passed on), but so many of the regular cast.
Erin Lavery was in this show, and I thought it was too bad they killed
her off and then sent Jonathan to work overseas as Ryan might have been more interesting
if he had some family around.
While I found the show’s explanation of how Josh Madden was Erica’s son (the unabortion), I did like her having more children, especially a son and
Bianca and Kendall having a brother. While I was not a big fan of Josh when
he first showed up, I really liked the way he bonded with Kendall and
especially Zach. I was very disappointed how they trashed his character and
wrote him out. Did Kendall ever find out that Zach shot him and it was
Josh’s heart they transplanted into her?
I liked Alexa Havins as Babe. Her replacement never seemed right for the
role. While Babe and JR had a rough relationship, they were the best fit for
each other. It would have been interesting if Babe had not died, to see what
type of relationship she might have had with her twin sister Marissa.
Other than Liza, I think that Adam’s best marriage was to KWAK. Yes, I
know he loved Brooke, but she always set such a high standard for Adam that
he always missed. KWAK and Liza had their own devious ways so they rolled
with the punches with Adam better.
I also liked the original Colby played by Ambyr Childers. She was a bratty kid when she first
came on in 2006 and gave KWAK and Babe a rough time, but in the end when she helped
deliver KWAK’s baby and turned out okay. The second Colby actress,
Brianne Moncrief, was okay,
but the last actress, Natalie Hall, was horrible and the character was totally annoying. Well, that’s about all for now. Have a great week.
