Random Thoughts

This has been a crazy week for me and even as I write
this column I have not watched Friday’s episode yet. However
there are a few comments I would like to share about this
week’s shows.
How much am I going to miss David Canary. Every young
actor on that show should emulate the level of performance
and professionalism he has brought to this show over all
these years. He not only gave us the unforgettable Adam
Chandler but showed us many times the gentler kinder Stuart
Chandler. I am not totally happy on how he is being written
out. It is not that I mind him sailing off with Brooke, but
I wish he would have just manned up to Annie that he
realized he wanted Brooke and left Annie on good terms and
taken care of. Leaving Annie with some power would make it
more of a level playing field between her and JR.
Bravo to the tribute to James Mitchell! Not only were
former cast members like Daisy and Nina back to pay their
respects to him, but the whole cast got to share their
memories of him, and those who did not actually work with
him, although their character might have, were allowed to
share as well. This brought to us the rich 40-year history
that AMC has and that is what has been missing for so long
on this show. When he first came on the show, Palmer was a
scary man! Although he was always a “tough bird”, (no pun
intended), he mellowed over the years and became a more
balanced and human character. I think one of the storylines
I liked and respected him personally for was when a young
man “came out” regarding his homosexuality. The young boy’s
own brother and many other characters shunned him. It was
Palmer who not only took him in but stood up for him and was
the voice of reason in a homophobic atmosphere.
I don’t know when we will see Julia Barr back in Pine
Valley again. Hopefully it won’t be for another death. I was
very pleased and enjoyed watching the scene with Susan Lucci
(Brooke & Erica) and her in the park. It was nice to see
them acting like mature women who while never BFFs have
developed an admiration and respect for each other. You
could feel the genuine feelings shared between the two women
in real life.
Well that is all for me this week.
I would love to hear from any of my readers.
