REVENGE OF THE GREEN DRAGONS stars Justin Chon (TWILIGHT), Kevin Wu, Harry Shum, Jr. (GLEE and seen in the upcoming CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON II: THE GREEN DESTINY), Shuya Chang (CHINESE PUZZLE), Jin Auyeung (THE MAN WITH THE IRON FISTS), Eugenia Yuan (MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA) with Geoff Pierson (J. EDGAR), Billy Magnussen (seen in the upcoming INTO THE WOODS) and Ray Liotta, reuniting him with Martin Scorsese for the first time in nearly 25 years since GOODFELLAS.

The film also reunites Lau with Martin Scorsese, who came on-board as an Executive Producer on the film. Scorsese previously won an Academy Award © for THE DEPARTED, a remake of Lau’s INFERNAL AFFAIRS.

The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. DirecTV immediately followed with an exclusive 30-day window which started on September 11th, followed by an A24 theatrical release in October. This is the third film to be released in the partnership between A24 and DirecTV following Denis Villeneuve's critically acclaimed ENEMY starring Jake Gyllenhaal, and Jeff Baena's directorial debut LIFE AFTER BETH.

OUTSIDE TELEVISION GOES THE DISTANCE WITH VOLVO OCEAN RACE

Network to air world’s longest sporting event in a documentary series

WESTPORT, Conn. (Sept. 25, 2014) – Starting this fall Outside Television will once again set sail to the Volvo Ocean Race, the world's toughest sailing event in which the elite of the profession battle it out on the most treacherous oceans. Welcoming viewers to their vision of a world that is 70 percent covered by water and only 5 percent explored, seven international sailing teams of modern Magellans will be profiled in this intimate series.

The world’s longest sporting event, the race is a nine-month marathon on the seas, passing through four oceans and five continents. Since 1973 the race has served as an exceptional test of sailing prowess and human endeavor where the athletes push themselves to the limit of endurance in what is commonly referred to as the ‘Everest of Sailing.’ The network will broadcast the race as a part of its Life at the Extreme documentary series. Starting Monday, October 20 at 10:30 p.m. EST, the Life at the Extreme series will premiere with new episodes every Monday for 39 consecutive weeks. Re-airs of each week’s episode will run throughout the week.

“This is one of the world’s ultimate sporting challenges and we’re pleased to see it return to Outside Television,” said Rob Faris, Senior VP, Programming and Production at Outside Television. “The Volvo Ocean race is a remarkable event and the series captures the real adventure and human drama that unfolds during the nine months of racing.”

The race will start from Alicante, Spain, October 4 and finish in Gothenburg, Sweden, June 27 of next year competing over 70,000 kilometers in some of the world’s most hostile and remote environments. Over the duration of the race, the seven race crews experience life at the extreme: no fresh food is taken on board so they live off freeze-dried food. Competitors experience temperature variations from 5 to +104 degrees Fahrenheit and only take one change of clothes with them on board.

The Volvo Ocean Race is the first of several new longform programs to roll out from Outside Television this fall. Faris noted that Outside Television viewers can expect more in-depth looks at world-class events in the future.

SYFY RENEWS DEFIANCE AND DOMINION

BOTH ORIGINAL DRAMAS SLATED TO RETURN IN 2015

NEW YORK – September 25, 2014 – Syfy today announced a third season for its original series Defiance, giving a 13-episode order to the action packed drama, and a second season for the epic supernatural thriller Dominion, which will also consist of 13 episodes. Both series are produced by Universal Cable Productions and are slated to return with all-new episodes in 2015.

Kevin Murphy (Desperate Housewives, Caprica, Hellcats) will resume his role as executive producer and showrunner of Defiance while Vaun Wilmott (Sons of Anarchy) will continue to fill the same posts for Dominion.

Season to date, Dominion and Defiance are the top two cable programs in the Thursday 8-10pm time period among P25-54s. With most current Live+7 data, both series are averaging 2.7 million total viewers, 1.2 million viewers 18-49 and 1.4 million viewers 25-54. Drawing an especially engaged social audience, Dominion was the most social drama on Thursdays across all of TV in tweets (15.4K) and tweets per unique (8.0).

Set in the near future, Defiance features an exotically transformed planet Earth, its landscapes permanently altered following the sudden – and tumultuous – arrival of seven unique alien races. In this somewhat unknown and unpredictable landscape, the richly diverse, newly-formed civilization of humans and aliens must learn to co-exist peacefully. Redefining the transmedia experience, Defiance has distinguished itself with an unprecedented partnership between Syfy and Trion Worlds, by creating the first-ever true convergence of television and online gaming.

TV LAND ORDERS TWO NEW COMEDIES, “IMPASTOR” AND “TEACHERS,” TO SERIES

New York, NY – October 1, 2014 – TV Land has ordered 10-episode first seasons of two new single-camera comedies, “Impastor” and “Teachers,” it was announced today by TV Land President Larry W. Jones. Both series will premiere on TV Land in 2015.

“’Impastor’ and ‘Teachers’ are perfect examples of the type of comedies we’re looking for as TV Land evolves its original series – innovative, unconventional, and hilariously funny for an audience that enjoys smart humor with a hint of heart,” said Jones.

“Impastor,” a single-camera comedy from Christopher Vane (“Wings”), stars Michael Rosenbaum (“Smallville”), Sara Rue (“Less Than Perfect”), Aimee Garcia (“Dexter”), Mircea Monroe (“Episodes”), Mike Kosinski (The Second City Chicago), and David Rasche (“Ugly Betty”). The series revolves around Buddy Dobbs (Rosenbaum), a gambling, pot-smoking slacker on the run from a loan shark, who steals a man’s identity and ends up posing as the new gay pastor in a small, tight-knit town. Though he’s tempted to immediately run off with the pastor’s money, Buddy has a change of heart when he realizes that the people there, including his prim church assistant Dora (Rue), actually like this new and semi-improved alter ego…and he kind of likes them back.

Other officials at Buddy’s new church include Alexa Cummings (Monroe), the gorgeous treasurer that has Buddy rethinking his whole con; Russell Kerry (Kosinski), the young secretary who’s very excited to have a gay pastor; and Alden Schmidt (Rasche), the church president and the only person who seems to be just a little suspicious of Buddy. As Buddy deals with his new life, his bartender ex-girlfriend Leanne (Garcia), has to deal with the huge mess he left behind.

“Impastor” is executive produced by Vane and Rosenbaum, along with Eric and Kim Tannenbaum (“Two and a Half Men”). Rob Greenberg (“How I Met Your Mother”) directed the pilot.

“Teachers” revolves around six elementary school teachers who are trying to mold the minds and lives of America’s youth, even though they don’t really seem to have their own lives together at all. From refusing to read fairytales because “sometimes Prince Charming wants to date other people” to hitting on the resident “hot dad,” these teachers are certainly changing the world, one student at a time. The series stars improv group The Katydids - Caitlin Barlow, Katy Colloton, Cate Freedman, Kate Lambert, Katie O’Brien and Katie Thomas – who also wrote and starred in the web hit that the TV series is based on. In addition to writing for and starring in “Teachers,” they will also serve as executive producers alongside Alison Brie (“Community”) and showrunners Ian Roberts and Jay Martel (“Key and Peele”).

Fox Broadcasting Company to Receive Honor at October 18 Gala

LOS ANGELES, CA, October 2, 2014 – The Environmental Media Association (EMA) will honor Fox Broadcasting Company (FOX) with the EMA Green Production Award at the 24th Annual Environmental Media Awards on Saturday, Oct. 18. The award will recognize FOX for its efforts to raise awareness of sustainability issues and funds for various environmental causes via the FOX Fall Eco-Casino Party.

FOX also has achieved remarkable results as a presenter of sustainable events. The FOX Fall Eco-Casino Party kicks off the Fall TV season, while simultaneously raising awareness and funds for environmental causes. Over the past decade, more than a quarter of a million dollars has been raised at these parties. Its wide range of efforts include increasing the use of LED and fluorescent lighting and limiting the use of conventional lighting instruments to reduce power; best efforts for all recycling of paper, cans, bottles and cardboard; composting all waste in food and beverage outlets; utilizing Fair Trade and sustainable food products wherever possible; renting all event furniture, décor, lighting fixtures, linens and napkins; and measuring the carbon footprint to offset all CO2 created by this event, making it carbon-neutral.

In addition, FOX continually works with its partners to encourage them to implement green initiatives. For example, Sweetwater Video Productions, FOX’s main supplier of audio/visual equipment, has changed its entire fleet of trucks to run off more eco-friendly B20 bio-diesel, and it powers its facility with solar power. These types of efforts affect industry-wide events.

Next Monday, October 6th, Acorn TV will be premiering the first installation of a new Australian six-part miniseries called ANZAC Girls, which is based on the true stories of five nurses during World War I and the trials and tribulations they faced throughout the war. STAMFORD, Conn. – October 6, 2014 – NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution hit talk show franchises “Maury,” “The Jerry Springer Show” and “The Steve Wilkos Show,” have all been sold through September 2018 to station groups including Tribune, Sinclair, Hearst, Weigel and Sunbeam, it was announced today by Ed Swindler, President, NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution and NBC Broadcast Operations.
All three talk shows have been extended for an additional two seasons beyond the existing deal which will keep them in national syndication for at least four more seasons through 2018. The shows now have been sold for the additional two seasons (2016-2018) to top stations representing over 65% of the U.S. which include WPIX New York, KTLA Los Angeles, WGN Chicago and WCIU Chicago, WPHL Philadelphia, WLVI Boston, KDAF Dallas, WPGH Pittsburgh, WTTE Columbus and WKCF Orlando.

Dallas - Release Date Revealed for The 3rd (and Final) Season of the 2012 Show

 We had the heads-up a few weeks ago that Dallas - The Complete 3rd Season is coming to DVD some time in 2015, but Warner Home Video had not provided a specific street date for the title. Now, following the rebooted show's official cancellation a week ago today, Warner has updated the Amazon.com pre-order listing (see button link below) with word to expect the 3rd (and final) season to hit DVD on January 13th.

Note that there are rumors around the 'net that this will be an MOD (manufacture on demand) release, not sold in stores...to the best of our ability to discern, that is NOT true. Warner (and Amazon) has this item marked as a traditional "factory-pressed" DVD release, so you should be able to buy it locally if you prefer. The renewal comes on the heels of a season five announcement for the hit legal drama SUITS, which was a top five scripted series in ad-supported cable in all key demos in 3Q, and a season two for USA’s newest entry SATISFACTION, which was among the top 10 new original scripted series in A18-49 for 3Q. Both series are from Universal Cable Productions.

For six seasons, ROYAL PAINS has centered on HankMed, a concierge medical practice serving all of the Hamptons. It stars Mark Feuerstein (“Defiance,” “In Her Shoes”), Paulo Costanzo (“40 Days and 40 Nights”), Reshma Shetty (“30 Rock”), Brooke D’Orsay (“Two and a Half Men”) and Ben Shenkman (“Burn Notice”). Over the years, ROYAL PAINS has enjoyed 1.4 million social media fans, with 926K Facebook fans and 464K Twitter followers.
ROYAL PAINS kicked off this past season when Hank (Feuerstein) returned from his world travels with Boris (guest star Campbell Scott) to find that his HankMed family had moved on without him. Hank forged ahead to fit into this new normal, but everything changed when Emma (guest star Willa Fitzgerald) showed up in the Hamptons claiming to be Hank and Evan’s (Costanzo) half-sister. Upon discovering the claim was true, the brothers invited her to stay to strengthen a familial bond, but the reunion was made more difficult when Emma’s desire to fit in led to a number of mishaps.
Elsewhere, Evan and Paige (D’Orsay) both dealt with new obstacles in couple’s therapy but rediscovered their love for each other. Divya (Shetty) struggled to balance motherhood with her job but found herself at odds with Jeremiah (Shenkman), who was furious with her for meddling in a developing relationship. Later, Hank rekindled his relationship with Charlotte (guest star Gillian Alexy), an adventurous blind woman he met during his travels with Boris.
In the season finale, after Boris purchased Hamptons Heritage Hospital, Hank reluctantly accepted the offer to join the board of directors, along with the rest of HankMed. Divya, in the midst of her battle for custody for her daughter, found comfort in the surprise return of Raj (guest star Rupak Ginn), and Emma and Eddie (guest star Henry Winkler) embarked on his book tour together, bringing their family closer than ever.

"Parenthood" is receiving the Fan Favorite Award, a salute to a series that is considered an All-American classic and much-loved by its fans. The drama series – based on the movie of the same name – just wrapped its sixth and final season on NBC, and tells the story of the Braverman family as they face life’s triumphs and struggles. Confirmed to be at the "TV Land Awards" include series stars Lauren Graham, Craig T. Nelson, Peter Krause, Bonnie Bedelia, Erika Christensen, Miles Heizer, Sam Jaeger, Savannah Paige Rae, Max Burkholder, Tyree Brown, Sarah Ramos, Xolo Maridueña and executive producer Jason Katims.
"The Wonder Years" will receive this year’s Impact Award, which honors shows that have made a significant impression on American entertainment and culture. The Emmy®-winning ABC series revolved around a young boy, Kevin Arnold, who narrated the story of his family and friends growing up in the late 1960s and early 1970s – one of the most revolutionary social time periods in American history – from his now-adult perspective. "Ally McBeal" will be honored with the Groundbreaking Award, given to a series that sparked conversation about cultural issues. The comedy-drama, which ran on FOX from 1997 to 2002, revolved around Ally, a successful lawyer with a sloppy personal life that only gets crazier when she starts working with her childhood sweetheart Billy…and his wife. The series was known for braving the subjects of sexual politics in the workplace and gender norms with its eccentric yet loveable characters, combining heartfelt drama and silliness. Executive producer David E. Kelley, along with stars Calista Flockhart, Peter MacNicol, Lisa Nicole Carson, Gil Bellows and Courtney Thorne-Smith will be accepting the award with more cast members expected to join.
Receiving The Legend Award this year is Betty White. With a show business career that spans over 70 years, Betty White is widely regarded as a national treasure and one of America’s sweethearts. As the rounds advance in this fun-for-the-family summer series, only those with the sharpest aim move forward. The first challenge finds the eight competitors vying to hit the center of a stationary target while leaping from a moving 18-wheeler, being pulled by a helicopter or acting as a human slingshot being projected hundreds of feet through the air. In round two, the remaining four competitors – two men and two women – race to hit as many targets as possible. These competitors may be aiming for targets while descending down a building or jumping between two racing speedboats. In the third and final challenge, the remaining three competitors race against the clock to conquer the ultimate test and hit the final BULLSEYE.
The competitors’ ability to defy gravity and the laws of physics, while maintaining their focus, could mean the difference between going home empty-handed …or up to $50,000 richer.

‘AMERICA’S GOT TALENT’ PREMIERES 10TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON MAY 26 WITH NEW FEATURES, EXTREME ACTS AND SPECIAL ANNIVERSARY EPISODE
Enhanced Boot Camp Round, Golden Buzzer and Two-Hour Series Retrospective on Tap for Upcoming Season
NEW YORK – April 2, 2015 – “America’s Got Talent,” NBC’s hit reality-competition series, announced today new features and surprises to celebrate its 10th anniversary season, premiering Tuesday, May 26 (8-10p.m. ET). New features will include an enhanced Golden Buzzer, bigger and more extreme acts, new elements in the boot camp round of auditions and a two-hour series retrospective.
To accommodate acts that are simply too big for the theater, “AGT” will bring the show outdoors to showcase some of the biggest and most dangerous acts to ever audition. Similar to the acts in theater, the extreme contestants, filmed at the Fairplex in Pomona, Calif., will be subject to the judges’ dreaded “X” buzzers.
This season’s Golden Buzzer will send an act from the audition stage directly to the live performance shows at Radio City Music Hall. Each judge can hit the Golden Buzzer only once for an act they think has what it takes to win America’s vote. Live performance shows will premiere Tuesday, Aug. 11 (8-10 p.m.).
A new version of boot camp will shake things up this season, beginning Tuesday, July 14 (8-10 p.m. ET). Each week, one judge will receive a special advantage over the others in determining which acts become part of the Top 36 to perform live for America’s vote.
To celebrate a decade of talent, “AGT” will also debut a two-hour special featuring the best acts of the series, the most heartwarming stories, the oddest personalities and the biggest show-stopping moments from the last 10 years.

The Protectors stars Leslie Nielsen as Sam Danforth, the deputy chief of police in a volatile California city. He is a conservative law and order type who is brought in from Cleveland to try to keep the lid on, but often is at odds with the city's idealistic, liberal black DA, William Washburn played by Hari Rhodes.
The Bold Ones series were well known for being some of the best television ever produced; bringing together highly skilled craftsmen to create programs that were a cut about the rest and The Protectors was no exception.
The pilot movie, "Deadlock," was produced by William Sackheim ("The Law") and directed by Lamont Johnson ("That Certain Summer"), Emmy winner Daryl Duke ("Payday," "The Senator") directed three of the six episodes, Vilmos Zsigmond ("Close Encounters of the Third Kind") was the cinematographer, bringing a big screen look to the series, and top notch guest stars including Edmond O'Brien, Charles Aidman, James Broderick, John Rubinstein, Robert Drivas and Louise Sorel pumped up the stories with a powerful dramatic flair.
The lack of background music, the soundtrack just being the din of the city and offices where it took place, really grounded the show with a realism that was unmatched at the time.
Long before he was a funny cop in 1982's Police Squad! series or its Naked Gun spin-off film franchise, Leslie Nielsen took police work seriously as "Sam Danforth" in 1969's The Bold Ones: The Protectors - The Complete Series, coming to DVD September 15th from Shout! Factory-owned Timeless Media Group.
Earlier this year Shout!/TMG announced another series from the "umbrella program" NBC ran beginning in 1969, The Bold Ones, with the upcoming release (two weeks from today) of the complete series of The Senator. Netflix today announced initial casting on the Netflix original series The Crown, the gripping, decades-spanning inside story of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the Prime Ministers who shaped Britain’s post-war destiny. The cast includes Claire Foy (BBC2's Wolf Hall) as Queen Elizabeth II, Matt Smith (Dr. Who) as Philip Mountbatten, Duke of Edinburgh, and John Lithgow (Third Rock from the Sun) as Sir Winston Churchill.

“Jeff and Some Aliens” is executive produced and created by Sean Donnelly and Alessandro Minoli and executive produced by ShadowMachine’s Corey Campodonico and Alex Bulkley. A spin-off of the animated incubator series “TripTank,” the series’ ten-episode season will premiere in 2016.

truTV's Impractical Jokers Head to San Diego for the Museum of Impractical History
Activations to Celebrate Season 4 of the Hit Series and the Return of New Episodes Thursday, July 16, at 10pm ET/PT
The stars of truTV’s hit hidden-camera series Impractical Jokers are headed to San Diego for the opening of The Impractical Jokers Museum of Impractical History, a specially curated exhibition that will be open to the public during Comic Con International from Thursday, July 9 until Sunday, July 12. Q, Murr, Joe and Sal will be present at various times throughout the exhibition, which will feature fan-generated artwork and show artifacts from some of the most legendary moments in Impractical Jokers history. It'll be like Planet Hollywood, but funnier.
The museum, housed within the Michael J. Wolf Fine Arts gallery, is located at 363 5th Avenue at the corner of J Street in San Diego. It kicks off at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 9 with a “Don’t Go Hungry on the Way to the Con” activation which will supply visitors with a complimentary Impractical Jokers-themed breakfast (Murr-ito anyone?) until noon, then beginning at 4 p.m., fans will be offered bite-sized snacks after a long day of panels, before closing at 7 p.m.
“Instead of waiting for the Smithsonian, MoMA or the Getty Center to finally launch a wing dedicated to the art of daring your best friends to embarrass themselves in public (seriously, what’s taking so long?), we decided to create the Museum of Impractical History ourselves to celebrate four successful seasons of the show and to give something back to the viewers who’ve been so supportive,” said Raymond Dooley, Vice President of Marketing at truTV. “We can’t wait for Sal, Q, Murr and Joe to invade San Diego and personally thank and reward their biggest fans with exclusive Impractical Jokers experiences just days before new episodes begin airing July 16.”

BoJack is back for a second season with a B.N.A. (Brand New Attitude). The darkly hilarious, serialized animated adult comedy BoJack Horseman will premiere twelve (12) new episodes only on Netflix on Friday, July 17, 2015 at 12:01am PST in all territories where Netflix is available. BoJack Horseman Season 1 is now streaming on Netflix.
Will Arnett voices BoJack, the legendary 90's sitcom star, who has been trying to find his way through a muddle of self-loathing, whisky and failed relationships. Now starring in his dream movie (a biopic of Secretariat), but humbled by the events of last season, BoJack attempts to use his career second wind as a stepladder to a springboard to becoming a newer, better BoJack. But new challenges on set and in his personal life, and the demons of his past make it difficult to shake off the skin of his previous self. If season one of BoJack Horseman is about a character learning he needs to change, the new season is about whether or not he can. It's a character in a rut, trying to pull out of that rut, and the rut pulling back.
Also, there are lots of surprise guest stars and funny talking animal jokes.
The all-star cast includes Will Arnett as BoJack Horseman, Aaron Paul as Todd Chavez, Amy Sedaris as Princess Carolyn, Alison Brie as Diane Nguyen and Paul F. Tompkins as Mr. Peanutbutter. Lisa Kudrow guest stars as Wanda Pierce.

The FX Networks comedy pilot Atlanta has cast its lead actors as production gets underway this month, it was announced today by Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, the Presidents of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions. Brian Tyree Henry, Lakeith Lee Stanfield and Zazie Beetz will star in the pilot along with Glover, who created and wrote the pilot.
Hiro Murai will direct the pilot, which will be produced by FX Productions and begin shooting in Atlanta at the end of July. Glover serves as Executive Producer of the pilot Atlanta, along with Paul Simms (Girls, Flight of the Conchords, NewsRadio), and Dianne McGunigle of MGMT Entertainment.
Atlanta revolves around two cousins on their way up through the Atlanta rap scene whose opposing views on art versus commerce, success and race will make their quest anything but easy.
Donald Glover will play “EARNEST ‘EARN’ MARKS,” a loner who left Atlanta only to return; now working an unglamorous job and barely getting by. When his cousin Alfred becomes Atlanta’s hot rapper, Earn sees an opportunity to manage Alfred’s career. Glover is an award-winning actor and writer best known for playing “Troy” on the Yahoo! (formerly NBC) sitcom Community. As a writer on NBC’s 30 Rock, Glover received a WGA Award for best Comedy Series in 2008, 2009 and 2010. As the musical artist Childish Gambino, Glover has received two Grammy Award nominations. Doctor Who - Industry Gossip Gives a Date for 'Dark Water/Death In Heaven' 3D Blu-ray
No official word from the BBC or from Warner yet, but sources say September
The title hasn't actually been announced to the press yet by BBC Home Entertainment, or by their North American distributors at Warner Home Video. But one of our contacts in Canada have passed along to us that BBC/Warner are planning on a September 22nd release of the 8th season's two-part finale, Doctor Who - Dark Water/Death In Heaven...as a 3D Blu-ray Disc. This will be The Doctor's second "3DBD" release, following the December 2013 3DBD/BD/DVD combo pack for The Day of the Doctor: 50th Anniversary Special.
Details, pricing and finalized package art for Dark Water/Death In Heaven on 3DBD haven't been made available yet, and it might just be best to chalk it up to "rumors" at this point in time, and nothing we've said above is finalized and could be subject to change. But on the above right we've got an early thumbnail-sized look at possible key artwork for the package, supplied by our retail sources. Stay tuned for updates, as further developments occur!

PIERCE BROSNAN REFLECTS ON FIRST TIME HE MET ROBIN WILLIAMS
[Los Angeles, CA]--- Last night, Access Hollywood caught up with Pierce Brosnan at the NOVEMBER MAN premiere and shared his funny experience from the first time he met Robin Williams.
Pierce Brosnan: “Well it was a strange experience because I read the script and I knew what the story was of course …. I'd never met the man and I went into the makeup trailer and there was Robin, with Ugg boots and a Hawaiian shirt with the head of Mrs. Doubtfire! So I really never got to see Robin throughout the whole shooting, not till the wrap party. Then he popped his head in the door and he said ‘Hello Pierce, how are you’ I said, oh my God, it's Robin. There you are! I haven't seen you in weeks.”
Then Pierce reflects on his experience with shooting MRS. DOUBTFIRE: “That was such a beautiful experience. That job came into my life in the most perfect time. It is a film that I hold dear to my heart and the memory of Robin will forever be kept alive by the sheer genius, humanity of the man.”

The Facts of Life - Revised/Corrected Package Art for 'The Complete 7th Season'

Yesterday we reported that The Facts of Life - The Complete 7th Season is coming to DVD this fall from Shout! Factory. The 3-disc set will be out October 20th, and features a new cast member: George Clooney! At the bottom of yesterday's story, we raised the point that the provided box art seen at Amazon and the Shout! store was incorrect, as it featured Cloris Leachman on the cover...and she didn't join the show until the start of Season 8.
We told you we would alert Shout! Factory about the situation immediately, and we did. Late yesterday the studio provided us with revised package art, correcting the mistake, and we've got a high-res 3D look at that new packaging below. As you can see, Charlotte Rae's "Edna Garrett" isn't in evidence, but a young Clooney is front-and-center in the new image. Amazon still hasn't updated their picture as of this writiing, but the Shout! store certainly has.

STUDIO CITY, CALIF. – CBS has given a straight-to-series order for 13 episodes of “BrainDead,” a one-hour comic-thriller from Robert and Michelle King, acclaimed creators and executive producers of “The Good Wife.” The series will be broadcast in summer 2016.
“BrainDead” is the first project from Robert and Michelle King as part of their new three-year producing deal with CBS Television Studios. “BrainDead” will be executive produced and written by the Kings. Ridley Scott, David Zucker and Liz Glotzer will serve as executive producers for CBS Television Studios, Scott Free Productions and King Size Productions, all of whom previously collaborated on “The Good Wife.” Judy Smith will serve as co-executive producer.
“BrainDead” follows a young fresh-faced Hill staffer getting her first job in Washington, D.C. and discovering two things: 1. The government has stopped working, and 2. alien spawn have come to earth and eaten the brains of a growing number of Congressmen and Hill staffers.
“We wanted to do a show that was a mix of genre-pulp and high-brow politics – ‘The Strain’ crossed with ‘The West Wing,’” said executive producers Robert and Michelle King. “It seemed like the best way to address the news today – not straight, but as the opening act of a horror movie.”

Sukowa’s Dr. Jones is a renowned physicist who, in an unapologetic quest to stop the plague, creates the time machine and recruits Cole to send him back into the past. Linklater stars as the eccentric Elyot Vionnet, an advocate of manners, style and most importantly, common decency. Observing people committing heinous crimes of etiquette, he tries to counsel them from afar, inserting himself into their lives most unwelcomely. When the individuals he deems classless choose not to take his advice, they are met with terrible consequences. In the midst of his mission, Elyot allies himself with his neighbor, an 11-year-old girl named Stella, to try to make the world better, one tactless person at a time.

Marilyn Monroe Musical That Originated on NBC’s “Smash” to Begin Development for Legit Life
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – June 22, 2015 – Following the explosive and well-received Actors Fund benefit that featured the music of “Bombshell” from the NBC television series “Smash,” Universal Stage Productions has begun development on “Bombshell” as a musical for the stage.
The announcement was made by Robert Greenblatt, Chairman of NBC Entertainment, and Jimmy Horowitz, President of Universal Pictures, who run Universal Stage Productions together.
In the wake of the June 8 benefit concert, the New Yorker proclaimed “Bombshell” “the best Broadway musical that doesn’t exist,” and the New York Post said, “Technically there was never a Marilyn Monroe musical, but after a production like this, maybe there should be.”
“There is a still a lot of love for ‘Smash’ and a rabid fan base out there, and we’re thrilled to be able to keep the dream alive as we work towards bringing ‘Bombshell’ to theatre audiences,” said Greenblatt. “‘Smash’ was ambitious because every episode was a complicated musical for television and we also built the foundation of the musical-within-the-musical about Marilyn’s endlessly fascinating and tumultuous life. Over the course of two seasons an entire ‘Bombshell’ score was written to service ‘Smash’ storylines, and now that show will have a chance to stand on its own.”

Steven Spielberg had long wanted to develop a series about the making of a Broadway musical and "Smash" was that idea come to life. He was the executive producer of the series and will be involved in the new stage production of "Bombshell." A book writer will be announced shortly.
Shaiman and Wittman, also executive producers of the series, will continue on “Bombshell” with Shaiman serving as composer and co-lyricist and Wittman as co-lyricist. Their Broadway successes include “Hairspray,” “Catch Me If You Can” (based on the film directed by Spielberg) and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” which is currently running in London’s West End and will arrive on Broadway in the future.

On Broadway, he starred in “Catch Me If You Can,” and also created the role of “Gabe” in the Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway musical, “Next To Normal,” which he developed off-Broadway at the Second Stage Theatre and won the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Supporting Performance. Hosted by Anthony Anderson and produced by FremantleMedia North America, “To Tell The Truth” is an anarchic and funny re-imagination of the beloved, game show of the same name. The all new version will take the excitement to another level featuring fun characters from pop culture over the six-episode series. “To Tell The Truth” is coming soon to the ABC Television Network.
Anderson will preside over four famous faces including legend Betty White (who has appeared on previous versions of the show) and actress NeNe Leakes. In each round they will be presented with three people who all claim to be the same person with the same incredible talent, job or achievement. One is sworn to tell the truth while the others are not. The panel of celebrities will have a chance to grill each participant before taking turns deciding who they think is telling the truth.
Anderson’s brassy mother, Doris, will be the official scorekeeper and asking questions of her own, not to mention embarrassing her son every chance she gets. The celebrity panelist who performs the worst will have to tweet a lie about themselves to the world. Cheche and his Band of Liars will be the house band. Every episode will end with a show stopping stunt/performance.

Williams was selected out of hundreds of applicants nationwide who had auditioned to portray the iconic role of a Kansas farm girl who gets swept up in a tornado and is sent to the mysterious land of Oz.
With five years of musical training that also includes extensive dance and piano, Williams has co-starred in several local productions, including “West Side Story,” “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” “42nd Street,” “Seussical” and “Pippin.”

Multi-talented Tony Nominee Heads Down Yellow Brick Road as Holiday Production Heats Up
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – Aug. 4, 2015 – Tony Award nominee and multi-talented actor and singer David Alan Grier is joining NBC’s highly anticipated holiday production of “The Wiz Live!,” set for Thursday, Dec. 3.
Grier will play the Cowardly Lion, who asks Dorothy if he can join her in her journey down the Yellow Brick Road and ask the Wiz for some courage, which he is severely lacking.
Grier is a three-time Tony Award nominee — for his role as Jackie Robinson in the musical “The First”; for co-starring in the David Mamet written and directed drama “Race,” opposite James Spader, Kerry Washington and Richard Thomas; and, most recently, for “The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess,” with Norm Lewis and Audra McDonald, for which he was also Grammy nominated. In addition, Grier had a co-starring role in the original Broadway production of “Dreamgirls.”
Grier has had an extensive television career and co-starred on one of the seminal comedies of the 1990s, “In Living Color.” Other series in which Grier has appeared include “Martin,” “Life With Bonnie,” “Crank Yankers,” “Happy Endings” and “Law & Order: SVU.” He is set to co-star in the upcoming NBC comedy “The Carmichael Show,” which premieres Wed., Aug. 26.

FOX ORDERS NEW PILOT “STAR,” FROM “EMPIRE” CO-CREATOR LEE DANIELS
Fox Broadcasting Company (FOX) has ordered a new pilot, STAR, from Lee Daniels, co-creator and executive producer of the hit series EMPIRE. The pilot, from 20th Century Fox Television, will be written, directed and executive-produced by Daniels.
STAR is the story of three young women, all with hopes of making it big, and the choices they’re faced with along the way. It will showcase the allure and heartache of the cut-throat music scene, while also exploring cultural themes from a new perspective. What would you do to rise to the top?
The project is the first to emerge from Daniels’ multi-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television. Casting for the pilot will begin shortly.

Country superstars Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will be returning to host “Country Music’s Biggest Night™” for the eighth consecutive year in 2015. “The 49th Annual CMA Awards” airs live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Wednesday, NovEMBER 4 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
The return of the popular pair was announced by reigning CMA Vocal Group of the Year Little Big Town during “CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock,” which aired last night on ABC. ABC FAMILY ANNOUNCES THE CAST OF AND STARTS PRODUCTION ON SUPERNATURAL PILOT “BEYOND”

“Beyond” is a one-hour drama about a young man who wakes up from a coma after 12 years and discovers new supernatural abilities that propel him into the middle of a dangerous conspiracy. From Imperative Entertainment and Automatik, “Beyond” is created, written and executive-produced by Adam Nussdorf (“Once Upon a Time in Wonderland”). Callan McAuliffe (“Homeland,” “The Great Gatsby”) leads the series as Holden, who wakes up in a hospital not realizing he’s been in a coma for 12 years – emotionally still a teenager, physically an adult, and possibly in possession of supernatural powers. Jordan Calloway (“Switched at Birth,” “Recovery Road”) portrays Holden’s childhood best friend, Kevin, now a therapist, who is haunted by guilt after the incident that put Holden in a coma. Dilan Gwyn (“DaVinci’s Demons”) stars as Willa, a beautiful woman who appears to be interested in Holden and who warns him he is in great danger. Romy Rosemont (“Glee,” “The Fosters”) plays Holden’s mother, Diane, who has refused to give up on Holden throughout his coma and now is determined to protect him. Michael McGrady (“Ray Donovan”) costars as Holden’s father, Tom, who is emotionally withdrawn after his son’s ordeal and defers to his wife, Diane. Burkely Duffield (“The Tomorrow People”) rounds out the cast as Holden’s clever younger brother, Luke, who grew up in the shadow of his brother’s tragedy and is now faced with a brother who knows less about the world than he does.

“Stay” is an edge-of-your-seat thriller about a recently widowed police detective and his two daughters who are stranded at a foreboding hotel and must unravel the hotel’s mysteries to escape. “Stay” is written and executive produced by Spenser Cohen.
