PBS Sherlock on Masterpiece Sunday, January 1, 8:00PM
"The Six Thatchers" (Season 4 | Episode 1) Previews
In the Season 4 premiere, Holmes awaits Moriarty's posthumous move; and becomes preoccupied with why someone is destroying images of the late prime minister Margaret Thatcher.

Sherlock returns for its fourth season on January 1, 2017 at 9/8c on MASTERPIECE on PBS. In "The Six Thatchers," Sherlock waits to see where Moriarty will make his posthumous move. One mysterious case in particular baffles Scotland Yard, but Sherlock is more interested in a seemingly trivial detail. Why is someone destroying images of the late Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher? Is there a madman on the loose? Or is there a much darker purpose at work? Something with its roots deep in Mary Watson's past… Benedict Cumberbatch returns as Sherlock Holmes, with Martin Freeman as John Watson, Mark Gatiss as Mycroft Holmes, Rupert Graves as Inspector Lestrade, Una Stubbs as Mrs Hudson, Amanda Abbington as Mary Watson and Louise Brealey as Molly Hooper. (episode length approximate)

In episode two Sherlock, Season 4, Sherlock faces perhaps the most chilling enemy of his long career: the powerful and seemingly unassailable Culverton Smith, a man with a very dark secret indeed.  "The Lying Detective" is written by Steven Moffat. Benedict Cumberbatch returns as Sherlock Holmes, with Martin Freeman as John Watson, Mark Gatiss as Mycroft Holmes, Rupert Graves as Inspector Lestrade, Una Stubbs as Mrs Hudson, Amanda Abbington as Mary Watson, Louise Brealey as Molly Hooper and Toby Jones as Culverton Smith.

Sherlock concludes its fourth season with "The Final Problem." Season Four finds the mercurial Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch), back once more on British soil as Doctor Watson (Martin Freeman) and his wife Mary (Amanda Abbington) prepare for their biggest challenge yet: becoming parents. Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game, Dr. Strange) and Martin Freeman (The Hobbit, The Office UK) return as Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson in three new episodes of the contemporary reinvention of the Arthur Conan Doyle classic, written and created by Steven Moffat (Doctor Who) and Mark Gatiss (Game of Thrones). (episode length approximate)
