Scene 1:
Krystal sits and stirs on the sofa trying to read an old issue of Tempo but
really can't get interested in the "New Spring Fashion Colors." Jack had 3
rallies to attend today, and she wanted to go with him and make an appearance.
After all, she is his wife; and if he were elected, she would be the governor's
wife. However, even if her family had relented to her desire to go, her doctors
didn't. According to them, it's way too soon for her to be making a public
appearance and needs instead to recuperate longer. The sooner she heals, the
sooner she could have the reconstructive surgery if that is what she wants to
do. She has not given much thought to that, at least as much as she should have.
So Jack took the whole mixed Carey/Montgomery Clan with him. They decided to
leave Bella at home with Krystal, and Rachel offered to stay and lend a hand.
Krystal still is not to lift anything or move around too much.
Suddenly Krystal comes out of her daydream and realizes Bella is in the
playpen next to her crying. Krystal looks at her beautiful granddaughter and
says, "Oh, sweetie, no need to cry, Grandma Krystal is right here with you." She
starts to lean over the playpen to pick Bella up when she hears a voice say, "Back away from the baby and no one will get hurt."
Krystal looks over and sees it's her ex-husband Tad who stopped by to see her.
"Have you lost your mind? Dixie told me you would be home today, and it would
be a good time to stop and see you. She also said I was not to let you do
anything strenuous or my butt would be in deep doo doo with her." Tad walks
past Krystal, bends over the rail of the playpen, and effortlessly scoops
Bella up into his arms. "Now, if you would like, I would be more than happy to
put your granddaughter in your arms while you sit on the sofa."
"It's good to see you too, Tad," Krystal said. I could use a bit of laughter
these days.'
"Well, I am supposed to meet Reggie here later, and I thought I would just come
earlier and visit with one of my favorite ex-wives." Laughing, Krystal remembers Tad always had a way of making her feel better.
"What does Reggie want to see you about?" she asks.
"I have no idea, but I'm sure it's definitely going to be something
interesting."
Scene 2:
Kendall sits in the family room they have at The Institute waiting for Zach
and the kids to arrive. This will be the first time she has seen them when she
has not been in bed. She thinks today's visit might go better, as she feels the
boys are a bit scared seeing her in the hospital bed. Today she made it a point
to pick out a nice new outfit and took the time with her hair and makeup. It's
not just the boys she wants to look good for; Zach is just as important to
her. She cannot wait to get the okay from David to go home.
The she hears them before she actually sees them. There's a big picture
window separating the visiting room from the corridor, and Kendall sees her family
out there plus someone she does not recognize. There is a pretty young woman
with them and she's holding Amelia. Kendall thinks to herself that she must be
the new nanny. I mean who else could she be?
Scene 3:
Adam is the first to wonder what is going on. "Can anyone tell me what the
hell is going on here? Brooke and I get an invitation to the Yacht Club and wind
up being part of a group that includes a Hayward and a Martin."
David chimes in next, "If you think I am happy to be here with you and
Martin, you couldn't be more wrong."
Finally Jake puts his two cents in, "I am not any happier to be anywhere that
includes you, Adam, or you, David."
Meanwhile, Brooke, Amanda and Cara circle the wagons. Brooke says to them, "I
don't have a good feeling about this little get-together. Nobody in their right
mind would host a get-together that includes those three men."
Cara and Amanda agree with Brooke. This whole thing feels wrong. "Perhaps we
should grab our spouses and get the hell out of here," says Cara.
"I don't usually agree with Cara," says Amanda, "but in this case, I think
leaving here right now is in our best interest."
Scene 4:
Tad sits in the Montgomery living room taking advantage of their 60"
flat screen TV to watch some sports when in through the door comes Reggie.
"Well, I am happy that you got yourself comfortable," Reggie tells Tad.
"I appreciate your hospitality," Tad answers. "Next time you could have order
me a pizza and some beer while I wait."
"Next time, I will," Reggie promises.
"Now, says Tad. "What exactly can I do for you, Reggie?"
