DVD Reviews
I watched every episode of this show as it aired, so
watching and reviewing the DVD was easy. I loved it and I am
very sad still that it's not continuing past these 5 years.
What a fantastic scifi show. I really miss it. None of the
remaining scifi shows come close to it in quality or
entertainment. The writers never treated us like
idiots, and they were always challenging their audience
instead. What a concept!
I wasn't thrilled that the last season took place in a
dark future, but it was still a very good show, and it had a
fabulous ending. It ended pretty much the way I would have
wanted it to end. If you like the show and have watched the
other DVD's, then you will enjoy the ending, too. They could
not have done it any better.
Now I have all the DVD's, so I'm very happy. There are
many great extras on the DVD set, such as "A Farewell to
Fringe", which as the series creator J.J. Abrams reflecting
on the series as well as the executive producer J.H. Wyman
and the cast. It is quite long and entertaining. They also
have a Comic-Con panel from 2012, which I enjoyed. I used to
go to Comic-con in the 70's and 80's, but I don't live in
San Diego any more, so it's great to see videos from it.
There is also a digital script of the final episode (not
sure what the point of that is), and of course the usual
episode commentary if you're into that kind of thing, as
well as a gag reel and some unaired scenes. Not too many,
though. Any scifi fan should love this set!
