This is the top-rated sitcom on TV and
arguably one of the best (certainly on broadcast
television). It's consistenly funny, even after 8 seasons.
This is not the kind of comedy that surprises us too often.
We know these characters and what to expect out of them.
They make the same type of jokes (more or less) over and
over. Yet the jokes are still funny because these guys are
such great comedians and the dialogue really pops.
The show started with just four guys and one
girl, but then they gradually added two other women. They
have a nice tight group now. We know that Sheldon will be
obnoxious and oblivious (and occasionally tug on our heart
strings). Leonard will be insecure and a little whiny. Penny
will be kind of slutty and condescending. They will make
jokes about Penny's drinking, Raj's bad luck with women,
Sheldon's lack of empathy (or his lack of sex with Amy),
Howard's cluelessness, and Bernadette's bitchiness. We still
love the jokes!
Although a sitcom's plot doesn't really
matter too much, they do a good job of developing the
characters and having relationships that we care about. We
really want to see Amy and Sheldon finally get together, as
well as Leonard and Penny get married. As long as they stay
funny while they do it!
This season, Raj has a girlfriend, Howard's
mom passes away, and Sheldon finally says "I love you" to
Amy. These are huge plot developments. The show gets great
ratings for a reason. They hardly ever have an episode
that's a dud. Some of them are just outstanding, like
the ones with Bob Newhart. The one with James Earl Jones and
Carrie Fisher was also hilarious. This season, they had a
really funny one where they tried to bring into Skywalker
Ranch. The inside jokes for geeks are always good, too.
There are a lot of good features; my
favorite is their tribute to Carol Ann Susi, who played
Howard's mother (whom we never saw on screen). I'm
sure you will enjoy this set and the features. The best
thing about a sitcom is that you don't have to have watched
the previous seasons to enjoy this one.

The Big Bang Theory — which was already renewed for two

roommates Leonard Hofstadter and Sheldon Cooper who remain
socially challenged, but always produce hilarious results
with their friends. With Leonard finally engaged to
girl-across-the-hall Penny after countless proposals, the
possibilities for happiness seem endless…while the
probability for laughs is a foregone conclusion. What’s
unknown is how this might impact the ironclad “Roommate
Agreement” he’s entered into with Sheldon. Add to this,
Sheldon’s uncomfortably close relationship with
neurobiologist Amy Farrah Fowler; Raj’s newfound ability to
talk to and date women; and Howard and Bernadette’s solution
to an in-house caretaker (their friend Stuart) for the
always outspoken Mrs. Wolowitz, and the worlds of science
and sitcom are about to hilariously collide!
