DVD Reviews
I had a hard time watching this movie on DVD
because there is no closed-captioning. I'm not deaf,
but most of the people in the movie either mumble or have
accents (or both). I had to give up and watch it on
Amazon Prime so I could figure out what was going on. I
mean, I figured out most of it, but there were a few things
here and there that confused me. If you have any
hearing loss at all, or you're older than 40, or you have
trouble with thick accents, I would advise you to watch it
streaming instead.
Having said all that, it's a fun little
movie Darren Criss has sort of a dopey quality, like
early Tom Hanks movies. He plays Tyler, the son of a
rich guy (James Remar, one of my favorite actors), whose
life is not going so well after having failed at both
business and marriage. His father sends him on a trip to
Italy, but first he gets drunk, and then kidnapped. He
and his kidnappers end up in a small village that's been
cursed. Madalina Ghenea plays Tyler's love interest.
It's a romantic comedy-fantasy. There
are a few supernatural elements, much as you might find in
Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." It's a very
enjoyable movie. I think anyone would like it. It's a bit of
a throwback because it doesn't have any bad language or
nudity, so anyone can enjoy it.

SYNOPSIS
Barry Morrow, the Oscar®-winning writer of
Rain Man, makes his directorial debut with
ALL YOU
EVER WISHED
FOR, a fanciful tale of romance, comedy, and
Italian charm.
Tyler Hutton (Darren Criss, "American Crime
Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace," "Glee")
is a young New York fashion executive whose business
trip to Milan takes an unexpected turn when he is
kidnapped for ransom and whisked off to a remote
Alpine village. But little does he or his three
bumbling abductors know that the rustic cottage
where they spend the night is under a gypsy love
spell. Upon waking up the next morning, each of the
men fall in love with the first living soul that
meets their eyes. Tyler, as luck would have it, gets
smitten by Rosalia (Madalina Ghenea, Youth,
Zoolander 2), a raven-haired beauty with a sharp
tongue and reluctant heart.
Despite everyone's pure motives, things begin
to unravel when the double-crossed mafia don and the
victim's father arrive on scene to put an end to the
madness. But they, too, fall victim to that gypsy
love spell, and our tale comes to a fitting end with
everyone getting what they wished
for -- or at least what they deserved.
