Review of "Mixed-ish" 9/26/19 by
Eva Diaz
airs Tuesdays, 9/8c on ABC
This show is the second spin-off from
"black-ish" and follows the earlier young life
of Rainbow Johnson (Tracee Ellis Ross) as her
parents Paul (Mark Paul Gossalar) and Alicia
m(Tika Sumpter) are forced to leave their happy
life in the comune because the commune leader is
arrested. Paul and Anita decide to move young
Bow (Arica Himmel), her brother Johan (Ethan
William Childres), and sister Santa Monica
(Mykal-Michelle Harris) to the suburbs, to spend
time wiith Paul's father - their grandfather,
Harrison (Gary Cole), and their favorite Aunt,
Alicia's sister, Denise (Christina Anthony).
Denise is my favorite character in the
show so far; she is very funny and loves her
nieces and nephew very much so s She tries
to help them adapt to their new surroundings.
Paul and Anita constantly worry that their kids
will lose the values they've been taught.
I think this show will work, but only becomes
it airs before "black-ish" I don't know if
the show would stand on its own if it moved
to another time slot, or if people who have
never seen "black-ish" will enjoy it because
it is too tied to the original show.
People who
have never seen the show will be a little lost,
I think, watching "Mixed-ish." I think
it's worth
watching and is very good. I give it 4 out of
5 stars
