Review of "ULTRAMAN"

Season One airs on Netflix
I started hearing about the Japanese "Ultraman" series in
the 1990's, but I've never seen it. This is a new animated
sequel series from Netflix. They know that most Americans
have never heard of Ultraman, so they make it easy for us to
watch the show. The series is dubbed. Apparently, there have
been many Ultraman cartoons, shows, and comics. It's a
billion-dollar industry that's been around since 1966. I
have no idea.
This is a really good show. Even though it's animated, it
is so realistic that it makes you forget that it's animated.
I wonder why they don't just make it a real-life show? I
guess they figure that fans of anime will enjoy this more,
and it's probably cheaper to make. Anyway, it takes place in
the current time. A teen named Shinjiro finds out that his
father was the original Ultraman. A giant evil robot comes
to earth to do battle, so Shinjiro (who has some of the
Ultraman powers) dons the Ultraman battle gear to fight him.
There's also a secret organization that helps him and has
developed the fighting gear. Of course, nowadays no
superhero works alone. They all have to be surrounded by
helpers because it gives them people to talk to and interact
with. It's a good thing in this case because Shinjiro is
very young and doesn't know how to be a superhero yet.
The only thing I didn't like about the series is that the
dialogue in Netflix's dubbing doesn't match the dialogue in
the closed-captioning. This happens on all of their dubbed
shows, and it's very annoying. I like to have the CC on
because sometimes the actors mumble or they have accents.
This makes it almost impossible to watch with the CC on
because it's very distracting to have such differences in
the dialogue.
If you love superheoes, like I do, you'll want to watch
this one. It's exciting!

Once there was a "Giant of Light" that defended world
peace from the threat of giant monsters and alien invasions.
His name was Ultraman. Time has now passed since he
completed his mission, in which he bonded with scientific
investigation team member Shin Hayata, and departed the
Earth. During this time humanity welcomed an age of
prosperity. But it was no more than just the illusion of
peace... Now, when the world once again needs the power of a
"Giant of Light," a new hero emerges who has inherited the
genetic factor of light. But he is no giant. He is a
normal-sized troubled high school student, clad in a
metallic powered suit. His name is Shinjiro Hayata. A new
story unfolds as the son of Shin Hayata, the man who was
once Ultraman, struggles to become the Ultraman of a new
generation.
