Stanley, Giambrone and Wilson

Review of "Kim Possible" 3/7/18 by Suzanne
airs this month on The Disney Channel

I thought this was a series, but it's actually a movie. I'm glad I watched it, though, and it was left open at the end. I'm sure there will be a sequel. I've never watched any of the animated "Kim Possible" shows, so I can't speak to whether this new live action movie is true to that or not.  It's very well-done, however. Even though it's aimed at kids, I enjoyed it.

Kim Possible (Sadie Stanley) is a superhero, who saves the world along with her sidekick friend, Ron Stoppable (Sean Giambrone), and her computer genius friend Wade (Issac Ryan Brown).  They face down many threats from supervillains. Kim and Ron are also just about to enter high school as freshmen when the movie begins. They make friends with a girl named Athena (Ciara Riley Wilson), who worships Kim.  There are some great supervillains, played by Patton Oswalt (Professor Dementor), Todd Stashwick (Dr. Drakken) and Taylor Ortega (Shego).

Kim lives with her family, who are retired superheroes, apparently (including her grandma).  Alyson Hannigan ("How I Met Your Mother" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer") plays her mom, Ann.  It's fun movie, filled with action and some teenage angst.  Kids should love it, but adults who like cartoons and superheroes should appreciate it as well.

Title: “Kim Possible” Live-Action Disney Channel Original Movie

Premiere: Friday, Feb. 15, 2019 (8:00 p.m. EST/PST) on Disney Channel and in the DisneyNOW app at 12:01 a.m. PST

Synopsis: Based on the global hit animated series, the live-action “Kim Possible” Disney Channel Original Movie follows everyday teen hero Kim Possible and best friend and sidekick Ron Stoppable as they embark on their freshman year of high school, all while saving the world from evil villains. By their side every step of the way is teen tech-genius Wade and new friend Athena, who also happens to be a Kim Possible super fan and is eager to join Team Possible. While Kim and Ron have always been one step ahead of their opponents, navigating the social hierarchy of high school is more challenging than the action-hero ever imagined. With Drakken and Shego lurking in the wings, Kim must rely on her family and friends more than ever. Now it’s up to Team Possible—Kim, Ron, tech-genius Wade, new friend Athena and Rufus, a naked mole-rat that Ron meets along the way—to stop these super villains.
