I enjoyed the pilot, which I found online. Apparently it
was leaked. Oops! You had to know that would happen. If you
watch the promo below, you'll have seen most of the episode.
It's full of spoilers and hits the high points of the show
(and not too many of the low points).
I grew up reading DC comics, particularly Superman and
Supergirl. I loved them both. I'm glad there's a new show. I
even loved the 80's movie, which was not all that good. Of
course I love most superhero shows. I don't think this pilot
is all that good. It's certainly not as good as "Arrow" or
"The Flash." However, I did mostly enjoy it.
It's hard to watch this without nitpicking because they
changed so much from the original comics. They've just made
her a miniature Clark Kent, which is a shame. She has
glasses and a nerdy secret identity at a media corporation.
She has kind foster parents and a dorky sidekick. I really
don't like the end when they reveal that Superman has sent a
certain person to watch over her. It seems very patronizing
and hard to take.
I hope it's successful and they do what they can to
improve it. I think the acting is fine, but the writing is a
little uneven. NOTE: I'll watch the show again when it airs,
and if it's different than this leaked pilot, I'll let you
know.
