TV Show Reviews
"Cult" review by Suzanne
Airs Fridays 9/8c on The CW
I'm enjoying this show so far. It's very
complex, and I fear that it will scare viewers off. It's not
hard to follow at all, as far as I'm concerned. Part of the
show takes place within a fictional TV show "Cult" and part
of the show takes place in the "real world".
A reporter named Jeff gets worried about his
ex-addict brother, Nate, when he starts talking crazy about
the TV show and then disappears. Jeff goes investigating and
finds help with a research assistant on the TV show, Skye.
They look into the Cult "followers" and strange things keep
happening. People shoot themselves and worse. The actors and
executives on the TV show are also drawn into this strange
cult world.
What's not clear is whether this show has
any real fantasy or supernatural elements. It could just be
a bunch of weird, crazy people. It's hard to say yet.
The show is created by the people who
brought us the wonderful "Farscape" and starts Matt Davis as
Jeff (Alaric of "Vampire Diaries") and Robert Knepper as the
Cult TV show's main character, Billy (he is well known from
"Prison Break", "Heroes" and many other shows).
Regardless of whether the show has any other-world
entanglements, it is creepy and weird. But not so weird that
it makes you turn away.
