EXCLUSIVE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FROM ANNA LEE (2002)

What was your favorite movie role?

BRONWEN in How Green Was My Valley, and NELL BOWEN in Bedlam.

 I heard that you still stay in close contact with Maureen O'Hara from How Green Was My Valley. How is she doing? 

She is as beautiful as ever.  I just watched her in a film she made for television called “The Last Dance”.  She was wonderful in it.  We see each other whenever she comes to Los Angeles but she is usually in her home in Ireland.

What was your favorite GH storyline besides Pickle-Lila?

When Felicia was writing my “memoirs” and it was discovered that Lila had murdered her lover a long time ago!  It was in self-defense so she got off!

 What was your favorite GH storyline besides ones that featured you?

 “The Ice Princess”

 Did you have a role model or mentor when you were starting out as an actress?

 Greta Garbo

 What made you decide to become an actress?

It was my father's idea.  He was a clergyman but I think he would have liked to have been an actor himself so he decided that one of his five children should become one and I was the obvious choice, being extroverted and always “showing off”.

Why does Lila put up with Edward?

That's a difficult question!  I think she really loves him but enjoys teasing him.  But when he does something she does not approve of she does not hesitate to yell at him.  “Shut up Edward!” or “That's quite enough Edward!”

Do you ever go back to England to visit?

I used to go every year but now I find that being confined to a wheel-chair makes it too difficult.  My sister's house where I stay has six steps going up to her front door so I cannot manage them!  It makes me very sad because I adore England and I miss seeing my family.

Are you close friends with any other soap opera actors (on GH or off)?

I am very fond of them all but I am particularly close to Lesley Charleson (“Monica”) and Susan Brown and Stuart Damon and his family.

What would you like to see happen next to the character of Lila?

Something that would make her seem “wicked”!  Maybe she could start an affair with a younger man!!

What made you choose the name "Anna Lee"?

You will have to read my autobiography!

You played Sister Margaretha in The Sound of Music; do you still hear from any of those actors? 

I think they are all dead.

Any experiences or stories to share about that movie?

I loved every minute of it.  Especially the time we spent in Austria.

What other plans do you have for the future?

To finish my autobiography.

What is your favorite color?

Turqoise blue

What is your favorite food?

Fish.  Scallops or grilled salmon.

What is your favorite primetime tv show?

AMC or any channel that shows movies of the ‘30s or ‘40s or even ‘50s but nothing later.  I also enjoy JEOPARTY (even though I can't spell it!)

Do you have any pets?

A Great Dane named “Holden”.  My son Jeffrey, who lives with me has two cats, “Dudly” and “Spencer”.

Do you ever hear from David Lewis or any other former GH actors who played Quartermaines?

Our dear David Lewis died a few weeks ago.

Do you have any siblings?

One sister who lives in England.

Who inspires you personally?

H.M. Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother who is now one hundred years old and walks without a cane!

What do you do in your spare time that you enjoy? (Hobbies, etc)

Read, write

What would you tell someone just starting out in the entertainment industry and looking to become an actress / actor?

Learn your lines and be on time!

What do you enjoy most of the business/entertainment industry?

Watching old movies
