Lucas: So, you're here about Chloe.
Daniel: Yeah. Yeah, there's, uh -- there's something you need to know about her.
Nicole: Sami called Lucas? Well, her father is a cop, and Lucas isn't exactly iron man.
Chloe: She just uses him, Nicole. She gets her hooks into him.
Nicole: I know. Look, I am on your side, all right, but I don't think you should get upset when Lucas worries about her. I mean, they do share a child together.
Chloe: It's more than that, okay? It's ever since he found out she's pregnant, he's just --
Nicole: I'm sorry. What did you say?
Chloe: I wasn't supposed to tell anyone.
Nicole: She's pregnant? And...Lucas is the father, right?
Killer: I'm glad we met up again, 'cause this time, I'm gonna finish the job I started.
Rafe: Don't count on it. [Grunting]
Killer: You're gonna die... but...not right away. First, you're gonna tell me where that blond bitch is.
Sister Theresa: How are you holding up?
Sami: He's been gone so long.
Sister Theresa: I know.
Sami: My baby is due soon. And I have no idea what I'm gonna do when it comes.
Bo: Get them here now.
Brady: Here's your bag.
Marlena: Find me a syringe and a vial of adrenaline.
Brady: All right.
Marlena: Bo, take over here.
Brady: I think this is adrenaline.
Marlena: That's it. Where is that ambulance?
Bo: Come on, man. Come on.
Marlena: Bo. Oh, please. Oh, please. Oh, please. Oh, please make that work. Oh, please, God.
Lucas: Come on in, man. It's cold. Is she all right? Was she in some kind of accident or something? I mean, when she left here, she was pretty upset.
Daniel: No, no, no, no. It's not like that at all.
Lucas: Well, then, what's it like? You coming over here is kind of weird, out of the blue.
Daniel: Yeah, I know, I know. It's just that, you know, you said she's upset. I'm assuming that she's, uh -- she's been upset a lot lately.
Lucas: And we're talking about this why?
Daniel: Well, we're talking about this because I think that -- I think that Chloe is going through something, and, um, she's covering it up.
Lucas: What are you trying to tell me?
Nicole: Oh, my God. You poor thing. You must be in hell.
Chloe: Nicole...
Nicole: I mean, how long have you known? Well, you must have just found out. Otherwise, you would have told me if you'd known before. Oh, that bitch. That overly fertile bitch. And Lucas. I mean, the ring, the engagement party. He must have known this whole time, right? And we both know how Sami uses her pregnancy as a weapon to get everything she wants. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Does she want him back? Is Lucas leaving you for that cow?
Chloe: Nicole, stop it. Please, you don't understand.
Nicole: You're right. I'm making things worse, aren't I? It's just the fact that Lucas is so weak and can't resist that whore. It's bad enough that he can't keep it in his pants. Could he at least use protection? All right, I'm sorry. Back to what I was saying. Even though Lucas is weak and stupid and utterly without self-discipline, you still love him, and it hurts.
Chloe: Lucas isn't the baby's father.
Nicole: Well, honey, he's lying to you. Who else could it be?
Chloe: E.J. E.J.'s the baby's father.
Nicole: Oh, I'll kill her.
Bo: Come on, John.
Marlena: John, it's Marlena. I'm right here.
Charlotte: You're too late.
Bo: Get her the hell out of here.
Charlotte: You're hurting me.
Hope: Good.
Brady: Did it work? Did the shot work?
Marlena: Brady, I need you to go.
Brady: No, I'm not leaving.
Marlena: Listen to me, you go find Charlotte, see what was in that syringe and the dosage, and when you find out, tell the EMTs so they can be prepared.
Brady: Marlena --
Marlena: I know you're scared. You go, help your father.
Bo: The adrenaline didn't work.
Marlena: It should have taken effect right away.
Bo: 28, 29, 30.
Marlena: Keep going. John, you listen to me. I have seen you do some extraordinary things in your life. You need to again. You've gotta hang on. You've got to fight. You've come so far. Do you hear me? You've remembered. You remembered your past. All you have to do now is just stay alive. You keep on fighting. Keep on fighting.
Lucas: Look, if there's something wrong with Chloe, just spit it out and tell me.
Daniel: She's stressed, all right? There's a reason that she's stressed.
Lucas: She's stressed because we had a fight. How do you know she's been under stress lately?
Daniel: Well, I bumped into her earlier.
Lucas: Where? Where is she?
Daniel: Where? You know what? It was the pier, and she was in a hurry. She was just rushing through, but she did happen to tell me that the two of you are just -- you're going away.
Lucas: Oh. So you knew she was stressed then. But we didn't have the fight until after that.
Daniel: Right. Well, yeah, I just don't -- I just don't think she should go with you.
Lucas: Why? Do you think it's too soon after the transplant? Did you tell her that?
Daniel: No, look, look. No, the reason I'm here, it's not just medical. Look, there's more.
Chloe: Talk to me. You're starting to scare me.
Nicole: E.J. and her? She's lying.
Chloe: Why would she?
Nicole: She has to be lying. E.J. Doesn't know anything about this. Children mean the world to him. He wouldn't keep this a secret. And if she didn't tell him that she was pregnant, that's because she knows he knows it couldn't be his.
Chloe: You're right. She didn't tell him. But it is his.
Nicole: No. No.
Chloe: And she even pleaded with Lucas not to tell E.J. Or anyone that she was pregnant. Why would she be so desperate to keep it a secret if the baby wasn't E.J.'s?
Nicole: How long have you known? Did you know before she left? Did you know then? How come you didn't tell me?
Chloe: Because you were so happy, and I promised Lucas I wouldn't, and then Sami was gone.
Nicole: Yes, she was gone, and life was so good. So Sami called Lucas. Why? Why? Is she coming back? When is the baby due? God, why is this happening to my life?!
Chloe: I really am sorry.
Nicole: I will not let that bitch ruin things for me or E.J. I won't let it happen. I won't!
Sister Theresa: Now, I don't want to know what that young man is doing, but I do want to know about the baby and why you are so frightened of the father's family.
Sami: I don't even know where to start.
Sister Theresa: Well, Colleen, why don't you start by telling me who you really are?
Killer: Sami Brady. Where is she?
Rafe: Sorry. Never heard of her.
Killer: No, see, that's what I would call a stupid answer.
Rafe: Yeah, well, no one's ever accused me of being real bright.
Killer: [Chuckles] Funnyman, huh? You know that old broad Hilda? Hilda -- I sure do miss her. Hilda thought she was pretty funny. She played a real funny trick on me. She's pretty dead now. Guess I don't have much of a sense of humor.
Rafe: She was federal. You know that? You're gonna get the needle.
Killer: Yeah, well, that assumes I'm gonna get caught, and that's not gonna happen, especially after I take out little Miss Brady. So...back to where we started. Where is she?
Rafe: Yeah, like I said, I don't know who you're talking about. Are you gonna shoot me now or what?
Killer: If you're dead, you can't talk, and you will talk. I promise. You're gonna tell me everything.
Sami: My name is Samantha Brady. Everyone calls me Sami.
Sister Theresa: Suits you. And Ryan?
Sami: Uh, his real name is Rafe Hernandez, and he's been assigned to protect me. I'm in the witness protection program. I, um -- I can I.D. a killer.
Sister Theresa: Explains the level of stress.
Sami: But the baby, um -- I didn't want to go in the witness protection program. In fact, I fought hard against it until...
Sister Theresa: Until?
Sami: Until I realized that if I was in the program, the baby's father wouldn't even know that I was pregnant. I'm hiding from him just as much as I am from the killer.
Sister Theresa: You don't even want the father to know about the baby? Do you hate him that much?
Sami: Not him. It's his family, mainly his father. [Sighs] My other son Johnny --
Sister Theresa: You have another child?
Sami: I have three. Um, but I share another child with this man, a little boy named Johnny. And, um, we share custody. Johnny spends half his time living in a house that is pure evil. Their grandfather is pure evil.
Sister Theresa: My organization takes evil very seriously. So, you gave up your life to keep this baby safe from that family.
Sami: I knew it wasn't permanent, but if I could just be in the program, it would give me time to figure out... look, Sister Theresa... you have to help me hide my baby.
Bo: 28, 29, 30.
[Siren wailing]
Marlena: John, the ambulance is here. That's it. Just hang on. Hang on a few minutes longer.
John: [Gasps] [Speaks indistinctly]
Marlena: Oh! Oh, yes! Yes, we're here. It's okay now. You're gonna be fine. Just keep breathing. Keep breathing.
Lucas: There's more? What is it, man? What do you want to tell me?
Daniel: You know, you said you and Chloe had a fight. Um...could you tell me what that was about?
Lucas: Yeah, sure. About none of your damn business. That's what it was about.
Daniel: Okay. Uh, Lucas, you do see that Chloe's been stressed out for quite a while, right?
Lucas: Yeah, yeah. And you think, what, it's affecting her health?
Daniel: I don't know. Look, I don't know. I just -- I'm worried about her personally. 'Cause when I talked to Chloe at the pier, she said that she was leaving with you, and it sounded like that maybe you guys were gonna -- I don't know -- run away to elope, or I-I-I don't know.
Lucas: She has an audition in Vancouver. That's why we were going. And she wanted to spend some time alone with me, and why is this your business again? I forgot. [Cell phone rings] Excuse me. Chloe. Hey, Julie. How you doing? No, no, no, that's fine. Um...no. You know what? I'm not going to Vancouver anyway. Um, I'll just -- I'll come and pick her up. All right. So, as you can see, I don't have much time. I have to pick up my daughter, so what is it you want to tell me?
Chloe: I'm sorry. I'm really, really sorry.
Nicole: So, Sami called Lucas. Why?
Chloe: Um, he said that she's really scared. Apparently, the guy that's after her killed someone who was guarding her.
Nicole: But not her.
Chloe: Nicole, it may be her fault that she's pregnant, but she never asked to see that guy kill the mayor.
Nicole: No, house rules. She gets no sympathy for anything.
Chloe: She even had to leave the safe house. She's hiding in some convent.
Nicole: [Chuckles] She's in a convent? Hasn't anyone noticed that sister Mary slut is about to pop out a baby?
Chloe: I think she's just hiding there.
Nicole: Well, well, well. Sami and I finally have something in common, huh? She doesn't want to tell E.J. about the baby and neither do I.
Chloe: Maybe you can work something out.
Nicole: Yeah, maybe. So, you know the name of the convent?
Chloe: Yeah, The Convent of the Holy Cross. Why?
Nicole: Oh, I was just hoping we could get that little piece of information to the guy that's trying to kill her.
Sister Theresa: You want me to hide your baby? For how long?
Sami: I don't know. I mean, I can't go back. Even if they catch the killer, I can't go back now until after the baby's born.
Sister Theresa: Because?
Sami: Because I can't risk letting anyone find out that I was pregnant. The baby's father would know that it was his.
Sister Theresa: But, honey, the child is going to need his or her mother.
Sami: I realize that. But...this is only a temporary solution until I can figure something else out.
Sister Theresa: The father of the baby -- you couldn't even talk to him about this?
Sami: We have a son together. Johnny -- he loves Johnny so much. I believe that. But he and I don't see eye to eye on his family. The baby's grandfather...is a terrible, horrible person who has done evil things to me, my family, the whole community. He loves hurting people. I'm never gonna give up on Johnny. But I feel like I've already lost him to that family. And...I just can't let that happen to this baby. So I am asking you to please help me. Please help me hide my baby.
Marlena: Kayla. John.
Kayla: You know you can't go in there.
Marlena: No, I know that. I just wanted to say that the EMTs have the syringe she used. I'm not sure what's in. You want to have it analyzed.
Brady: I should have killed her.
Kayla: All right, you watch him, and I'll watch John.
Marlena: Well, a broken hand's not gonna change a thing.
Brady: She was so arrogant.
Marlena: She is so disturbed.
Brady: [Sighs] You know, I showed him the tape of the hypnosis and the part where he remembered seeing you. You should have seen the look on his face. He loves you so much.
Marlena: You too. Listen, you remember what a fighter than man is. He's not giving up -- not now, not ever. Honey.
Kayla: Oh, John. What did Charlotte do to you?
Bo: Yeah, thanks.
Charlotte: Stop staring at me.
Hope: Unfortunately, it's my job.
Bo: Unit's on its way. Gonna take you down to the station, have a nice long talk.
Charlotte: Have you heard from the hospital? Is John still alive? Where's Marlena?
Hope: No one's gonna give you any information about John or Marlena.
Bo: You know, that part of the oath, uh, first do no harm -- did you have your fingers crossed during that or something?
Charlotte: Why don't you ask your precious Dr. Evans about that? Ask her about the harm that she did to me.
Bo: Did she stick you with a syringe full of...what was that again?
Charlotte: I didn't say. I imagine right about now, the lab technicians at the hospital are frantically trying to figure that out. Marlena must be beside herself.
Hope: I think Marlena's probably beside John. And I think he's going to recover and that the two of them are going to be very happy with each other while you're passing the time in a rubber room.
Charlotte: No. No. I don't really care what happens to me. But that bitch -- I did ruin her life. Even if John does survive, he's never gonna be the same. They're never gonna be the same. He won't be the man that he was, ever.
Hope: I think now is probably a good time to escort Dr. Taylor to the squad car. If I spend another moment with her, I'm afraid I might do something unprofessional.
Bo: Can you imagine that, doc? Doing something unprofessional?
Hope: Don't let her win, guys. Don't let the crazy lady win.
Marlena: Kayla.
Kayla: Uh, he's stabilized. But he's, uh --
Marlena: What? Just tell us. Just tell us.
Kayla: This drug, whatever it is, um...he's had an episode.
Marlena: A stroke?
Kayla: Well, I'll know more when I get the test results back.
Brady: Can we see him?
Kayla: Yes. Actually, I would encourage you to, and talk to him, even if he doesn't respond. We're not sure what he understands or, um, the extent of the damage.
Brady: Right.
Marlena: A stroke.
Kayla: Let's not go there yet, all right?
Marlena: Kayla, there's something that you should know. I think it's important.
Kayla: What's that?
Marlena: I saw a tape of John's hypnosis. Now, we can talk about the review board later, but, for the moment, I think it's important. He remembered things. He remembered me. Although, he thought I was dead at the time. And Charlotte kept that from him.
Kayla: Did he know about it before the attack?
Marlena: Yes. He was told about it.
Kayla: You know, in cases like this, we often encourage people to talk -- to talk about memories, and I think a memory of seeing you would be very, very powerful.
Marlena: Well, that happened under hypnosis. I'm just not sure he can access those memories now.
Brady: I think maybe he already has.
Announcer: Tonight... stick to the books, or stick out your neck. It's frightening. Is the smart answer to ride out the storm by staying in school? Tonight on "global national."
Lucas: So, you were saying?
Daniel: So, Allie has a tape of Chloe singing.
Lucas: Yeah, she does. It helps her sleep when she gets a little worked up.
Daniel: They're that close.
Lucas: Yes, Daniel, they're that close, so if you'll excuse me, I got to go.
Daniel: I know. I just -- it's just when I ran into Chloe, I was worried, and I wanted her to try to talk to you to -- to relieve some of the stress.
Lucas: Right, I know. You said that.
Daniel: Right. But now I realize that it is none of my business.
Lucas: Well, good. I'm glad we agree on that.
Daniel: We do.
Lucas: I just don't understand why you're so focused on her, though. I mean, you do have a life, don't you?
Daniel: [Chuckles] Yeah, I do. I guess, you know, my feelings for Chloe were just a little overprotective when she stepped up to the plate when Kate needed a transplant. It was an inspiring gesture, and I guess I sort of got caught up in it all.
Lucas: You know what, Daniel? We had a fight, all right? People get stressed out when they fight. That's what happens. But it doesn't mean that I don't love her, doesn't mean I can't take care of her. I do want what's best for her. So you don't have to worry about her anymore, okay? You can go home.
Daniel: And I will. Lucas, I'm sorry about all of this. I just -- I didn't -- I did not mean to bother you.
Lucas: It's all right. Look, Daniel, um, do you think that I should tell her not to go to Vancouver? Do you think I should tell her to go get a checkup with Dr. Johnson?
Daniel: No. I guess she just needs to, um, figure this out for herself.
Lucas: Yeah, right back at you.
Chloe: I can't believe you just said that. That man is trying to kill Sami, and you want to help him?
Nicole: Just wishful thinking.
Chloe: But she's pregnant with E.J.'s baby.
Nicole: You know what, Chloe? That thought hasn't slipped my mind. You know, my life is finally where I want it to be. I can see a future and a family. She's not even here and she still finds a way to tear my world apart, so for a fleeting second I want her dead, just deal with it.
Chloe: I don't really think she's trying to tear your world apart. I mean, she doesn't even want E.J. To know about the baby.
Nicole: Mm-hmm. And I have some property in Florida you might be interested in.
Chloe: What?
Nicole: Look at the custody fight that she and E.J. Had over Johnny. She lost in her mind. And now she's pregnant, and she doesn't want E.J. To know because she doesn't want another battle, so what does she do? She runs away.
Chloe: She's in witness protection.
Nicole: And once she has that baby and E.J. Finds out he has a child he might not ever see, oh, my God, what a bargaining chip.
Chloe: Who would think like that?
Nicole: Me...and Sami. We have some of the same traits. Look, just...don't tell Lucas you told me. I don't want Sami to find out I know.
Chloe: What are you gonna do?
Nicole: I don't know. I have to think this over. Look, um, why don't you just go home? I've had enough fun for one night.
Chloe: I really am sorry.
Nicole: I know, I know. You know, go home to Lucas. I'm sure he's much better company than I am. Here, let me help you.
Chloe: Thanks.
Nicole: Well, thanks for coming over. Bye. Convent of the Holy Cross.
Brady: Maybe I should talk to you alone for a sec.
Marlena: It's all right. I told Kayla that I had taken the tape of John's hypnosis.
Brady: She didn't take it. I took it.
Kayla: It doesn't matter really right now. What happened in there?
Brady: I showed Dad the tape again. When the part came up where he remembered seeing you, he squeezed my hand.
Marlena: Really?
Brady: Yeah, and then, he s-- he said -- he said, "light." He said, "see light."
Marlena: Light? Oh, no, no, no. John. John, it's me. You gave me a hell of a scare there. Well, wasn't the first time. It better not be the last time. John, I need to reach you. You need to reach me. And we can do that through our memories. That's how we'll reach each other. And we can do that...because we have the most beautiful memories in all the wide world.
[Flashback]
Marlena: Welcome home, Mr. Black.
John: You know, I think this calls for a celebration.
Marlena: Okay, then, we'll throw you a housewarming party. How's that?
John: I was thinking along the lines of maybe you having dinner with me tonight.
Marlena: I'd like that.
John: All right. Do you have any special place you like?
Marlena: Blondie's.
John: Blondie's it is.
Marlena: John...do you remember?
[Knock on door]
Daniel: I didn't expect to see you. Not here.
Chloe: I had a fight with Lucas.
Daniel: I know.
Chloe: What?
Daniel: I went to see him after I talked to you.
Chloe: Why?
Daniel: To tell him about us. I didn't. I didn't. I just realized that it's not just Lucas. There's Allie, and that girl -- well, that girl needs you.
Chloe: Yeah, she does.
Daniel: And I also realized something else that Lucas and I -- well, there's something that we have in common. We both love you.
Chloe: Oh, God.
Daniel: And when you love someone, you don't destroy their life.
Chloe: So...what? You -- you mean it's over?
Sister Theresa: You want me to hide your child.
Sami: Yeah, I know he or she would be safe here, and I can come visit.
Sister Theresa: Sami, that's not nearly enough.
Sami: I'm aware of that. I'm asking for your help.
Sister Theresa: Believe me, that's what I'm trying to do, but this child needs you. And I think this would just postpone things.
Sami: You're right. That's exactly what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to postpone things until I can figure out what to do.
Sister Theresa: You need to think more about this, dear. And pray.
Sami: God, please. My medal. Oh, God. I must have dro-- dropped it at the loft.
Killer: What we have here is a situation where you get to make a decision. You can tell me where little Miss Brady is...
Rafe: See, I still don't know what you're talking about.
Killer: ...Or you can pass the time here while I go out and eliminate members of her family one by one.
Rafe: Oh, you don't have to do that.
Killer: You're gonna tell me where she is?
Rafe: Well, how about I give you a clue? She's right under your thumb.
Kayla: We've identified the drug in the syringe. Dr. Taylor sure meant business.
Brady: Okay, so now you know what it is. Is there an antidote or something?
Kayla: There's really nothing we can do at this point. Marlena kept John alive. Now we just have to see what kind of recovery he makes.
Marlena: And then...
[Flashback]
Marlena: Having someone come into your life that you can love as fully and as completely as I love you is very rare and very special...and something to be cherished. I love you.
John: Doc... circumstances here have kind of, well, kind of dealt us a funny hand... in there are things in my life, which include our life, that I don't remember. They can take a human being and they can do a lot of things to him...but they can't take away his love. I love you, and it is that simple. Oh, honey, we just are meant to be together, and I'm so happy that we are. I love you.
Marlena: John. John. [Monitor beeping rapidly] Kayla! Hold on. Hold on.
Kayla: I got it, I got it. I need a milligram of Ativan, stat. Hang in there, John. Come on, come on.
Lucas: Night, baby Allie. Come on, Chloe. Come on, Chloe. Where are you?
Daniel: It is what's best. Us together, it's -- you know, it's not right.
Chloe: So, what do we do now?
Daniel: Say goodbye?
Kayla: He's stabilized.
Brady: Are you all right?
Marlena: I will be. I will be. I -- let me be with him.
Kayla: Of course.
Marlena: Oh, I love you. I love you. John? John? What is it?
John: I... rem-- remember.
Marlena: Oh. Oh. [Grunting]
Sami: Please, God, I really need your help because I honestly don't know how much more of this I can take.
Daniel: I'm only ashamed of the deception, so let's end it. Let's tell everyone the truth.
Kayla: If he stays here even one more day, his chances of recovery are slim.
Nicole: You don't deserve a baby.
Sami: Somebody help me! Help! No!
