At Society, Nina apologized to Lily for being late, which happened because of a situation at home. She explained that no one had been able to reach Mariah on her business trip. Nina was sure Mariah was just tied up with work, or her phone wasn’t charged. Nina knew ChancComm was busy with the Locke divorce saga, and she asked if that’s what they were meeting about. Lily said Billy and his team were handling that. Nina had been reading everything ChancComm published on that. Lily commented that it had all the ingredients to capture an audience – a titan of industries, a messy divorce, the business empire. Nina added that there was a human element – Ashland was a father of a young boy, and the stakes were high for that little family, and there was also Kyle and Victoria’s involvement. She was sure Billy had some thoughts on that because his children could be affected. Lily thought Nina’s focus on the human side of the story made her perfect for the subject of this meeting. Lily said she and Billy wanted Nina to do a series of feature stories that focused on the old guard vs the new guard in the business world. Nina thought that was a brilliant concept that she could really dive into. She took the assignment. After Lily left, Nina called Abby to see if there was word from Mariah. There wasn’t. Nina still thought there could be a reasonable explanation.

At the Abbott house, Jack embraced his two sisters. Ashley thanked him for sending the jet. It had gone to Paris first to pick her up, then to NY. She and Traci had talked all the way to Genoa City. Jack couldn’t wait for them to meet his new grandson. Ashley also looked forward to meeting Tara, whom she’d heard was very impressive. Jack was sure they’d hit it off with Tara, because she was charming. Traci wanted to spend time with Kyle, he’d sounded strong and brave on the phone, but she could tell he was suffering. Ashley couldn’t believe Kyle and Summer split up. She thought they’d work out this time. “So did I,” Kyle added, as he entered the living room.

Kyle said he was fine, and he’d find a way to move forward. Traci was sure he would, because he was strong and resourceful. Ashley was mystified by Summer’s actions. Jack noted that this wasn’t the first time Summer broke an engagement. As Billy entered, Kyle said it was the first time Summer ran to another continent. He’d begged her to stay, but she said she wasn’t ready to be stepmother and deal with the situation. “And some people weren’t making it easier,” he added, while glaring at Billy. Billy noted that he gave Kyle and Tara a heads up about the article, and she decided to go on the record. He said every major media outlet would cover the story, and ChancComm couldn’t sit on the sidelines. Kyle thought Billy went too far bringing up Harrison’s paternity and Victoria’s relationship with Ashland. Billy reasoned that it was going to come out sooner or later, and he thought ChancComm did a good thing by handling it respectfully. Ashley asked if the rumors on Ashland’s illness were necessary. Traci asked if it was true – was Harrison going to lose the father who raised him? Jack thought they should put all that aside and put Harrison first. Kyle said that nothing that happened in this house should end up in an article, and if that was a problem, the door was that way. Billy promised he’d never cross that line.

Tara brought Harrison in, and Kyle introduced him to his great aunts and uncle. Billy reminded Harrison that they met before, at the coffee shop with Ashland. Ashley asked about Harrison’s fox’s name. It was Zippy. Ashley recalled that she had a favorite doll at that age. Jack remembered it was named Esmeralda. Traci asked if Harrison liked staying here, and he said yes. The toddler chattered and everyone grinned at him. Harrison was excited when Kyle told him it was muffin time, and the pair went to the kitchen. Everyone complimented Tara on her sweet child. Billy assumed Tara would like to let him have it about the article. She wished her life wasn’t splashed on the internet, but she understood Ashland was a public figure, and by extension, so was she. However, Harrison was not, and she hoped Billy would exercise restraint on that front in the future. Ashley wanted to get to know Tara. Tara said she was an open book.

The visiting Abbotts were curious about Tara’s family. Her parents had died, and she still wasn’t used to it, even though they’d been gone for some time. She had a younger brother, Shane. They weren’t close, which she lamented. She’d been lonely a lot; even when her marriage to Ashland was good, he was away a lot on business. She was glad she had Harrison, who was everything to her. Jack said Tara had plenty of extended family now. Tara said they all cared about family. Ashley said they weren’t perfect. Tara knew a fair bit about their family, because Jack gave her a copy of the family history Traci wrote. She believed Harrison was extremely lucky to be part of the Abbott legacy – despite their issues, their love and loyalty shined through. Ashley asked about Tara’s future plans. She was putting down roots in town so Harrison could bond with Kyle, and Ashland was fine with that. Billy asked about a career, and Tara told him about Lauren’s plans to market her shoe line in the US. It wasn’t well known outside France. Ashley loved Tara’s shoes, she bought some when she was in Paris. Tara felt good to be known for her work, and not just for being the soon to be ex Mrs. Ashland Locke. Her most important role was being Harrison’s mom. She excused herself to check on her son. “She’s something, isn’t she?,” Jack asked. “Yeah, I was thinking the same thing,” Billy said, with a pensive expression.

Jack gushed about having the next generation under this roof. Traci said that when Abby had her baby, two of her siblings would be grandparents. Ashley used to feel old when she thought about being a grandma, but now she couldn’t wait. Jack said grandkids made you young. Billy asked how Abby and the pregnancy were going. Ashley said it was going well, though Abby was kind of thrown by Mariah’s sudden business trip. Jack said Abby called him about that, and he told her that Mariah didn’t have to run her trips by him. He assumed Mariah was just taking care of loose ends, since she wouldn’t be able to fly soon. He’d check into it, though. Ashley didn’t think there was anything to be worried about – Mariah had been nothing but responsible.

Traci suggested to Billy that they have a family division of ChancComm’s fiction platform. She’d ask Harrison and Billy’s children about their favorite books, then reach out to those authors. They could have a family book club. He thought it was a great idea. Kyle returned and said Harrison wanted everyone to come outside and play with him. Everyone except Billy agreed. Billy explained that he had somewhere to be, but he wanted to bring his kids over to meet Harrison. Kyle thought Harrison would like that. Billy pulled Kyle aside to talk, and everyone else left. Kyle said to make it quick unless this was an apology. Billy said it wasn’t about the article – it was about a promise he made Summer. Summer asked him to be a friend to Kyle. Kyle was surprised Summer would go to Billy, and anyway, he didn’t want any part of it. Billy said that Summer was concerned about what would happen to Kyle. Kyle didn’t want to get into this, especially with Billy. He had to move on with his life. Billy thought Kyle should be careful about how he did that. He said Kyle was in the middle of a storm, and Tara was probably a little lonely and looking to connect. Kyle snapped that Billy didn’t know what the hell he was talking about. “You want to be my friend? Stay the hell out of my business,” Kyle ordered.

Later, Billy was gone and the other Abbotts, plus Tara, came inside. Jack said when he was young, his father made time to play with him in the backyard, when Kyle was little, Jack treasured his every visit, and now he was building memories with his grandson. Tara thanked everyone for this special day and making Harrison feel like part of the family. Harrison smiled up at everyone.

Billy went home and told Lily that Harrison was sweet, Tara on the other hand… Lily wondered what that meant. Billy said Tara was very very sweet; she really turned on the charm. “She’s good. Really good,” he said. He thought there was more going on with Tara than anyone else knew. Lily trusted Billy’s instincts, but the situation was complicated – Tara wasn’t just a stranger; she and Kyle had a child. He stated that Tara made herself at home very quickly, like in record time. Lily sensed he told Kyle that. He explained that he’d promised Summer he’d watch out for Kyle. Lily correctly guessed that Kyle told him to butt out. She knew Billy meant well, but she agreed with Kyle. She said it was none of his business, and she asked him to let it go.

Chelsea squeezed Connor tight at the park and told him how much she loved him. Adam watched the reunion, and he looked apprehensive. Connor asked how much longer Chelsea would be in the hospital. She hoped to be home soon. She was getting better every day and seeing him was the best medicine of all. Connor told a story about a soccer goal he scored. Chelsea wished she could see him play, so Adam offered to get the ball out of the car. Connor asked if Chelsea could play too, and they said yes. Adam sent Connor to buy snacks from a vendor. Chelsea thanked Adam. This was everything she needed. After their last conversation, she didn’t expect him to make it happen. He said he didn’t either until Rey walked into the coffeehouse and said he ran into her at the park and she seemed to be doing well. She asked if Rey convinced him to change his mind. He said Rey played a role, and Connor overheard the conversation and was desperate to see her. She was grateful Adam changed his mind. Chelsea hoped Adam could see she wasn’t a threat. She said this ended here – no more threats or games. She asked if he could try and convince Victor of that. He said he already did, and Victor was setting things in motion for her release. As long as she continued to play by the rules, do outpatient therapy and whatever the court required. She swore she would.

Adam and Chelsea talked after soccer, while Connor played with the other kids. She thanked him for letting her participate, even though she was terrible. He said she wasn’t terrible. This was the most fun she’d had in a really long time. She knew he was thinking that this reminded him of the way things used to be, but she said things would never be the same between the two of them. He agreed they couldn’t go back, but he didn’t want them to be enemies, he wanted them to be the best parents for Connor. She said Connor would always be the best thing to happen to both of them. She’d lost months with Connor, and before they knew it, he’d be grown up. “From now on, I need to spend as much time as possible with my son,” she stated. “Well, I’m enjoying some quality time with our son,” he replied, emphasis on the our. She agreed, but she said Connor was with him and his family. He told her they’d make arrangements as the need arose. She looked like she wanted to say something, and he asked if there was a problem. She smiled and said no, but when he looked away, she looked unhappy.

Later, Connor was back. He mentioned living at the ranch, and Chelsea displayed a positive attitude about it. Adam said they had to leave, and Connor asked if he could see Chelsea again. Adam said yes. Chelsea assured Connor that everything would be fine, and they hugged. She said bye, for now, then Adam and Connor left. Tyler, the orderly, told Chelsea it was time to go. She begged to stay a little longer, and he relented. Adam returned. Anita, Chelsea’s mom, called him, because she couldn’t reach Chelsea. She was in the hospital with a broken hip, and she needed surgery. Anita wanted Chelsea to come help her out, and she was hoping the judge would allow it. Adam asked Chelsea if this was a con she and her mom cooked up. She understood him asking, but no. She assumed he checked Anita’s story with the hospital. He had, and he said Anita had conveniently granted the hospital permission to tell him her medical status. Chelsea didn’t see the issue – Anita was a pro, but she couldn’t con an entire hospital. She said her mom didn’t break her hip on purpose. Adam didn’t put it past her. He asked if this was her backup plan if Victor wouldn’t agree to her release. She swore it wasn’t. She knew the timing seemed suspect, but sometimes there were coincidences. She was worried about her mom, and she wanted to take care of her. She asked him to talk to Victor one more time. She swore she’d do whatever it took – wear an ankle monitor or they could send an orderly with her. “And naturally, if I’m allowed to go, I want to bring Connor with me,” she stated.

At Nick’s hotel suite in Milan, she and Nick toasted with soda to a very successful shopping trip on the Corso Venezia. Nick thought they’d be shopping for her, but they mostly purchased clothing for him. He admitted he did need to step up his fashion game now that his daughter was a creative director to a renown fashion house. She thanked him for coming with her and helping her get settled. He said tomorrow he was going to go see Noah in London, which wouldn’t have happened if she didn’t relocate. She knew he was keeping something from her, and she thought they’d better deal with it now before he left. She meant the ChancComm article. He was hoping she didn’t see it. She said she was glad to be thousands of miles away from the drama. He was floored at how well she was handling this. She said the article was proof she was right to leave. Leaving Kyle was hard, but it was easier to do it now than when they were married and she was bonded with Harrison. He asked if she was sure she made the right decision. She stated that leaving was was painful, but she did what was best for everyone. She said she didn’t fall apart when she left or when she read the article, so she wanted him to believe her when she said she’d be fine.

As a father, Nick would never stop worrying about Summer or trying to protect her, no matter how old she was. He just wanted her to be happy. She acknowledged he’d always been there for her, even when she was driving him insane. He said she always marched to the beat of her own drum, like her mother. He thought about the time she came back to Genoa City in a stolen car. He marveled at how far she’d come, and now she had this incredible job, thanks to her hard work. He was in awe of her. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for her. She asked him not to be hard on Kyle, because he didn’t do anything wrong, and she wanted him to be as happy in his future as she was sure she would be. He promised he would.

Summer hated to say it, but it was getting late, and she had to get ready for tomorrow. They’d miss each other. He said he and her mom wanted to see her soar. She promised to make her parents proud. They hugged and had a tearful goodbye and said they loved each other. “Arrivederci,” he said and asked if she knew what that meant. “Until we meet again,” she replied. He told her that if she needed him, he’d fly over in a second. Summer left. Phyllis called, and Nick told her he was sad. He hated watching Summer go. There was a knock on the door, and he went to get it. It was Phyllis, there to surprise him. “Buona sera, baby” she said, then they kissed.

Phyllis said Summer knew she was there because Phyllis didn’t want Summer to think she’d come to persuade her to come home. They saw each other in the lobby, and they were going to have breakfast tomorrow before Summer went to work. Phyllis told Nick that tonight was about them. He thought her surprise was wildly romantic. She helped him out of his shirt, then he pushed her up against he wall, and they shared a deep kiss. Later, they were in bed, basking in the afterglow. She said that was worth the 10 hour plane ride, and he commented that she made good time. He decided to text Noah and say he was going to spend an extra day in Milan so he and Phyllis could explore the future. They talked about Summer, and Phyllis said they both knew there was more to the story that explained why Summer left town and Kyle so abruptly.
