Nate met with Lily and Billy at The Grand Phoenix lounge. AskMDNow was a success, and Lily said it was because Nate was easy on the eyes. According to metrics, there were ten million users. Billy asked for Nate’s opinion on a colleague who was having trouble catching his breath. He added that an oncologist was involved. Nate said it was one thing to be stopped on a street by a stranger, but when the guy you worked for tried to trick you into going on the record for a story… Lily assured her cousin that they’d never put him in a compromising position. She said she and Billy were just concerned for their colleague. Nate listed several causes of shortness of breath, and Billy asked what about lung cancer. Nate confirmed it could cause that symptom. He stated that this wasn’t a diagnosis, and if they wanted to know more, they should talk to their friend. Nate added that the symptoms of lung cancer often didn’t appear until the cancer had spread. If it was cancer, he hoped this person sought treatment ASAP.

After the meeting, Nate mentioned he and Elena were meeting Devon for drinks. Lily asked if she should feel left out, and Nate said it was last minute. She was glad Nate and Devon and Nate and Elena were in a good place. Nate knew Billy and Lily’s questions weren’t just idle curiosity. Lily had to go back to the office, but Billy had something to take care of. Nate left. Lily told Billy that she knew what he was up to, and she fully supported it.

Upstairs, in Ashland’s suite, Victoria told him he didn’t get to decide what was or wasn’t fair to her. He realized he was being selfish. He enjoyed spending time with a brilliant beautiful woman who made him feel invincible, but he was asking her to bear witness to his inevitable decline. She replied that she got to watch one of the most dynamic men of their time do what he did best. She didn’t accept that it was inevitable that he’d decline. She brought up treatments, but he wasn’t willing to consider it. He said if he did, that would keep him from enjoying nights like this with her. He mentioned that they were involved, and she smiled. “Is that what we are? Involved?,” she asked. He needed to know she accepted his decision.

Victoria admitted she never considered the possibility that he wouldn’t try to beat this. He didn’t think that would happen – more than one specialist gave him the same prognosis, and he accepted it. The vultures were circling, and it was imperative to him to secure his legacy for his only heir, Harrison. She said their deal would accomplish that. He said he and Harrison didn’t share the same DNA, but they were father and son in every way that mattered. He thought Tara probably couldn’t wait for Harrison to forget he existed, now that she’d been cut off financially, and he didn’t think Kyle would do much to keep his memory alive. He knew Victoria understood the importance leaving something for your children. He said Victoria was the only one he could count on to keep him alive in Harrison’s memory. She urged him to fight so he could have more time with his son. He said he didn’t choose this, and he refused to squander the time he had left holding out for a cure that didn’t exist. He wanted to live life to the fullest, charting the future of his company for Harrison. He wanted to spend time with Victoria without holding out hope for a miracle. She was sorry for being selfish – she wanted to keep him around as long as possible. He said she had Victor’s cold-blooded business instincts, but this was something different. He’d made his decision, and he needed to know if she couldn’t abide by it. He wanted her in his life for the time he had left, but it had to be on his terms. She accepted this.

Victoria ran into Billy in the lounge. He said he lost the bet he made with himself, because he thought she’d spend the night with Ashland. He asked how Ashland was doing. “We can make it an exclusive,” he added. He wanted to know when Ashland planned to admit the rumors about his health were true. She suggested he should run his company instead of pestering people. He heard from an unimpeachable source that Locke had cancer and the prognosis wasn’t good. She asked what source, and he said it was someone who heard things, like Ashland talking to the oncologist. She couldn’t believe Billy stooped this low, spying on Ashland. She felt that covering the divorce was one thing, but digging into Ashland’s personal life went too far. He didn’t think she’d be so angry if the rumors weren’t true. He said he was asking out of concern for her – how long did Ashland have – years? She told him the tabloid gossip was beneath him, and she left.

Billy went upstairs to Ashland’s suite and announced that was 90% sure Ashland was seriously ill. Ashland pretended he wasn’t sick. Billy was sure Ashland was frustrated and maybe a little scared. Billy said Ashland didn’t have a family to carry on his legacy. He acknowledged Ashland would leave something to Harrison, but what were the chances the toddler would follow in Ashland’s footsteps? Billy said no one appreciated what Ashland built more than he and Lily. Ashland said ChancComm could never afford Locke Communications Group. Billy said money wasn’t an issue. He assumed Victoria made this play already and that Adam and Victor were also waiting to pounce. Billy was going to make an offer so that Ashland could ease out of his empire, secure in the knowledge that his company would be in the best hands. Ashland thought the nerve it took for Billy to come in and make this offer was remarkable. He could imagine Billy, hundreds of thousands of dollars in the hole while gambling, and still thinking things would turn around for him. Billy said he only made business gambles now. Ashland called this meeting the second most interesting thing to happen to him tonight. Ashland told Billy to write down his offer, and if Ashland was interested, he’d call tomorrow. Billy wrote a figure on the piece of paper. He hoped he was wrong about Ashland’s prognosis, as he wouldn’t wish this on his worst enemy. He left.

At Crimson Lights, Victoria told Lily to put a leash on Billy. She added that it was time for Lily and Billy to butt out of Ashland’s personal life. “Oh, I guess you don’t like the article we published,” Lily replied with a smirk. Victoria thought it was trashy, and she didn’t appreciate being dragged into the fray. Lily said it wasn’t personal. Victoria thought it was for Billy. She contended that it was inexcusable to speculate on someone’s health. She expected Billy to swim sewage, but she expected more from Lily. Lily asked if Victoria felt better. She did. Victoria left, and Lily smiled.

Billy met Lily at home, and she said she got a tongue lashing from Victoria. He said that was probably his fault. He told her what he’d been up to. She wanted to know how much he offered for Locke Communications Group. He was being cagey, so she gave him a piece of paper to write it down on, just like he did with Ashland. Her eyes widened when she saw the figure and asked where they were supposed to get all of that. He said they’d worry about that after Ashland accepted.

Back at The Grand Phoenix, Ashland looked at Billy’s offer.

Devon and Amanda prepared for their guests. He wondered if she was up to this, and she said she looked forward to the distraction from Naya’s case. Imani arrived at the penthouse with wine she’d first discovered on vacation in Bordeaux. Amanda told Imani she looked gorgeous. Imani was glad for the invitation. It was a great distraction from their family issues. Amanda noted she’d just told Devon the same thing. She mentioned he’d wondered if he should cancel the night all together. Devon said that sometimes it was nice to come home to peace and quiet after a stressful day. Imani replied that some nights required a red lip and high heel, and the sisters laughed. Nate showed up, and he mentioned Elena was running late. Imani and Nate noted that running into each other was getting to be a habit. He hoped it was a good one, and she said it was the best. Amanda wanted to know what was going on. Nate explained that they ran into each other a few days back. Imani asked if they could tell Nate, and Amanda laughed that Imani couldn’t keep a secret. Imani and Amanda revealed they were sisters. Stunned, Nate realized Imani took out a restraining order against Amanda. Amanda said a lot had changed since then, obviously. Nate asked what happened, and Amanda said tonight was a family drama-free zone. Amanda and Devon talked amongst themselves, while Imani asked Nate about himself. He said he wanted to hear more about her. Imani had strong opinions, and she liked to be direct with people. She liked to know where people stood, especially with the internet’s favorite doctor. She thought it must be gratifying to have that kind of platform. He said it was – it hit home when the people who ran the site told him about the latest numbers. He amused her with a story about someone who recognized him in a grocery store. Elena showed up, and Amanda introduced her to Imani. Imani clarified that they’d already met. Elena asked how long Imani would be in town.

Elena thought it must’ve been quite a surprise for Amanda to find out she had a sister. Amanda said it was, and she noted that Nate was the one who encouraged her to get the DNA test that lead her to her biological mother. Imani added that it was her mother, too. Elena remembered Amanda saying her mother was named Naya. She’d read a story about the man Amanda was defending, Sutton, having a daughter named Naya. Amanda confirmed Sutton was her grandfather, and instead of defending him, she was defending her mother. Amanda wasn’t ready to go public with her family ties yet. “You look like you can keep secrets, Nate,” Imani said with a smile, and Elena raised an eyebrow. Nate said no one would hear a thing from him. Elena said she wouldn’t say anything either. Amanda asked that they change the subject because they were all here to have a good time.

Devon finished playing a jazz song for the group. Elena marveled at the sound he’d captured – it almost sounded like the band did that night at the club. Imani noted that Elena, a doctor, knew so much about Devon’s business. Nate sensed where this was going and attempted to change the subject, but Imani forged ahead with her observation. Imani said that when she first met Nate, she felt this thing between him and Amanda, then she found out they dated each other. “Briefly, very very very briefly,” Amanda clarified. Imani got the same vibe from Devon and Elena. An uncomfortable Nate cleared his throat. “I told you, Nate. I do not hold back,” Imani said, while laughing. Elena confirmed that she and Devon dated for awhile. Imani commented that the four of them had made their friendships work. Nate felt that friendship and family were important. Amanda admitted it’d been complicated at times. Devon added that they all figured out where they were supposed to be, and Elena agreed. Nate said everything worked out the way it was meant to. “Fascinating,” Imani replied.

Nate checked in with Amanda privately. When he encouraged her to get the DNA test, he didn’t know where it’d lead. She said she’d been determined to find her family, and she guessed she’d gotten what she wished for. Across the room, Devon hoped Imani had a good time. She said it was eye-opening. Elena thought Amanda was lucky to have Imani. Imani said there was a lot to like about this town. “Genoa City’s really growing on me,” she said while looking at Nate. Imani thanked Amanda for including her. Imani was leaving, so Amanda walked her out.

Adam wanted to know what Dr. Hedges was doing at the main house. Victor said this was about a medical issue that didn’t involve Chelsea. Victor sent Dr. Hedges away. Adam, who didn’t fall for Victor’s lie, asked what was going on with Chelsea. Victor revealed how he engineered Chelsea’s confession and commitment to the psychiatric ward. Adam asked if Chelsea had just been faking the breakdown this whole time. Victor wouldn’t go that far. He said Chelsea was cognizant enough to confess to poisoning Rey and she agreed to the deal to stay out of prison, but that didn’t mean she was well. Adam said the doctor treating Chelsea was being paid off by Victor, and he had her locked away in a ward. Victor said she belonged there. Adam asked how he could be sure. Victor said Chelsea pretended to be paralyzed. Adam conceded Chelsea was angry and resentful, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t in her right mind. Victor was adamant that Chelsea needed psychiatric care. He wanted Adam to understand that he made the deal with Chelsea to clear Adam’s name. Victor helped Chelsea with the insanity plea because he didn’t want Connor’s mother to be behind bars. Victor felt that he’d done a good job. Adam thought Victor should’ve told him right away, but Victor said it wouldn't have changed anything. Adam was grateful for what Victor did, but he said they had to figure out a way to get Chelsea released without serving jail time. He blamed himself for Chelsea’s situation. Victor felt that Chelsea was getting the help she needed, but Adam thought being in the facility was making her worse. He wanted to hear Dr. Hedges’ assessment.

Dr. Hedges returned, and Adam asked for his opinion on Chelsea’s condition. Victor explained that Adam knew everything, so Dr. Hedges could tell the truth. Dr. Hedges said Chelsea had legitimate mental issues, but her skills as a con artist were intact. He said she secretly recorded him admitting to his part in the deception, using a phone that appeared after a visit with Chloe. He thought they had to give in to her demands to go free. Victor replied that they’d do no such thing. Dr. Hedges protested about his career being at stake. Victor said if Chelsea released the recording, she’d be admitting to gaming the legal system, and she’d land in prison. He sent Dr. Hedges away with a warning not to screw this up again. Adam said Chelsea was desperate and her freedom was in Victor’s hands. He wanted to get her out of there as soon as it was reasonable. He promised he’d make sure that she got the help she needed. Victor said they couldn’t just let Chelsea out and hope for the best. They needed a bargaining chip. Adam said he’d go tell Chelsea that they’d give her an opportunity to get her life back, but he didn’t want to go to her with any more threats. Victor said that Chelsea wanted access to Connor more than anything, and that was their ace in the hole. Adam didn’t think Victor was listening. Victor stated that he’d heard Adam loud and clear. He instructed Adam to tell Chelsea that they were offering her a wonderful opportunity that she’d be stupid to jeopardize. Adam nodded and said Chelsea would understand. “You also tell her that she even thinks of betraying me, she will have no longer any access to her son. You think you can do that,” Victor added. Adam hesitated, then he nodded.
