Amanda was at Devons house to vent about Naya. Her eyes were filled with tears, as she yelled that Naya was a piece of work. She revealed that Naya had eventually admitted that she told Richard everything the day that they talked on the phone. He knew about both Amanda and Hilary. Devon was sure that was heartbreaking. Amanda wasnt just heartbroken; she was furious because Naya had known all this time that she had a father who loved her unconditionally and sight-unseen. Amanda noted that Naya knew this when shed tried to give Amanda the brush-off, she knew when she asked Amanda to represent Sutton, she knew when she was making phony claims about wanting to get close to Amanda. She knew when she was crying crocodile tears about giving the twins up. Naya knew, but she didnt say a damn word. Amanda thought it was bad enough that Naya made her grow up without a mothers love, but she made her think her dad didnt want her either, when he did. Devon asked Amanda to sit and try to relax, but she continued to pace. She was too wound up and angry at Sutton and Naya. She stated that Sutton knew about that call too, but he didnt tell her instead he used her to clear the Ames family name, all the while painting her father as a money-hungry blackmailer. She felt that Sutton manipulated her. She also thought that her father died because he loved her and was looking for her and that her grandfather was behind the car accident that killed him.
Devon knew this had to be one of the most painful things Amanda had gone through, but he hoped she was happy to have the truth. She wasnt sure she had the whole story. Naya swore Sutton was innocent, but Amanda didnt know how she could believe a word Naya said at this point. You cant, Devon said. He found it ironic that shed gotten more honesty from Victor than from her family. He thought it seemed that Victor had become her greatest ally. Amanda clarified that her greatest ally in this was Devon. She said he kept her strong, grounded and focused on what mattered her story and Hilarys. He didnt take credit, because he felt all hed done was watch her stay strong while she took on the people who shouldve been there for her and Hilary all along. He said she forced the Ames family to admit to what theyd done and she proved how strong she turned out in spite of them. She asked why she felt like a fool. He didnt know, because she wasnt one. She said no matter how much she stood her ground, all she ever really wanted was the familys love and acceptance. He assured her that was normal. She wasnt going to stop until justice was done, and so she needed some slam dunk evidence. Devon assumed an attorney couldnt just turn on their former client and try to prove them guilty. She said Sutton would file ethics charges and accuse her of violating attorney-client privilege. She said shed need to find justice another way.
Devon hoped Amanda wasnt going to do anything dangerous. She wasnt. She said she knew a better way to get her grandfather where it hurt him the most. He wanted her to elaborate, but instead, she didnt. He answered a knock on the door. Imani barged in and confronted Amanda about not leaving well enough alone. Amanda called Imani out for the way shed rushed into the house, and Devon started to defend Amanda, but Imani gestured for him to be quiet, and Amanda told him it was okay because she could handle this. What did you say to my mother?, Imani demanded. Amanda clarified that Naya was their mother. Amanda said the truth about her father had finally come out. Did our mother tell you that she spoke to him? Did she tell you that she confessed to having twins and that she admitted that she abandoned us right after we were born, and then she told Sutton that Richard knew the truth, Amanda asked. Imani asked if that was it. Amanda thought it was enough. Imani hoped Amanda was proud of herself for breaking poor Naya with her relentless questioning. Amanda asked what that meant. Moms confession didnt end there. She just turned herself in to the Genoa City police department for murder, Imani revealed. Amanda and Devon looked at each other in shock.
Imani stated that, thanks to whatever Amanda said to Naya, she was now saying that she had Richard killed to protect her fathers political career. Are you happy now?, Imani asked. Devon asked Imani what her problem was, since Amanda was clearly upset too. Amanda said this was the last thing she wanted. She never believed Naya was guilty of murder. She decided to go down to the station and fix this, but Imani snapped that Amanda had done enough. You shoved your way into our family and then you decided what that you were morally superior to us? Or maybe poor little abandoned Amanda didnt feel loved enough, so you just had to tear us apart had to make us pay for all your suffering. Either way youve done your worst to me, to my father, to Grandfather. I may have just lost my mother to prison, and that is all on you!, Imani yelled.
Abby and Nina were on the patio at Crimson Lights. Abby got a text, and she hoped it was Chance, but it was a selfie of Mariah in a baby on board shirt. They admired the photo. Abby stayed positive and said maybe it was a good thing that Chance didnt contact her, because it could mean he was staying focused, staying safe and finishing the job. She kept reminding herself that she had a hero for a husband. Nina worried for her son, but she was proud he was saving peoples lives. After Nina left, someone came up behind Abby and said hello. She recognized the voice; it was her ex-husband, Ben Stitch Rayburn. Itd been years since they saw each other. He was here for his old bosss retirement party. He didnt reach out when he first got here, because he wasnt sure shed want to hear from him. She assured him it was nice to see him.
Ben congratulated Abby on her wedding. She asked about his son, Max. Maxs recovery wasnt going well, and hed been moved from facility to facility, but Ben was still hopeful. She wanted what was best for him and his son. He saw the photo of Mariah and asked if she was pregnant. Abby explained that Mariah was her surrogate, and Ben asked why she was using a surrogate. She told him she couldnt carry a child to term. He realized it was because of the miscarriage his son caused her to have, and he was apologetic. Abby said not to be she didnt hold any grudges over the past. Everyone had a journey, this was hers, and she felt blessed. He said her smile still lit up the room. He wished her, Chance, and the little one to be all the best. He left.
Abby went home, and Mariah shared that the fluttering feeling shed been getting in her abdomen was the baby yawning. Nina noted that this baby news didnt get Abby as excited as it usually did. Abby revealed that she ran into Ben. Nina didnt know him. Mariah and Abby brought her up to speed. Abby explained how when Bens son, Max, was nine, they found out he had a brain tumor. She felt terrible for Ben, especially when her life was filled with so much joy. Back at Crimson Lights, Ben flashed back to telling Abby that she was pregnant with their baby. Shed been so happy that she leapt into his arms. He then remembered the moment when they found out that Abby miscarried their daughter. Finally, he recalled Abby breaking up with him
Sally ran into Tara at Crimson Lights. Sally was thrilled because Summer called Lauren to meet about something important, which Sally assumed meant Summer was quitting her job. Tara said she wasnt going to gloat over Summers pending departure. Tara said it was Sallys plan, but Sally said that she and Tara were in this together. Tara was aware, but she said her motive was to protect her son. Sally countered that this was also about Tara trading one sexy powerful man for a newer model named Abbott. She said they both knew Kyle would need a shoulder to cry on. Tara told Sally to get off her high horse, since she had her eye set on an Abbott as well. Tara scoffed when Sally insisted her relationship with Jack was genuine. Sally stated that she just cared about Jack, and she wasnt after his money and power, though she guessed that was difficult for Tara to relate to. Tara decided to leave. Sally said that if Tara ran into trouble, she had Sallys number. Yes, I most certainly do, Tara replied.
Nick and Jack ran into each other at Society. Nick thought Summer and Kyle were over for good, but Jack didnt think Kyle was ready to give up. He realized Nick blamed Kyle for this. He conceded that his son made mistakes, but he felt Kyle did the best he could. Nick felt it was a complicated situation, but he said Summer had been through so much through no fault of her own. He already had one kid living on another continent, and he didnt want his oldest daughter to move to Europe too. Hed miss her. Jack was also heartbroken over that. He was just trying to understand how Summer and Kyle went from postponing the wedding, to fast tracking it, to ending the engagement. Nick noted that this wasnt Summer and Kyles first broken engagement or fast tracked wedding. They talked about the things that could derail couples, including a third party. Jack said maybe Summer and Kyle werent in the cards.
Jack went to Crimson Lights and he and Sally acknowledged theyd run into each other twice today. Again, he noticed she was in a great mood, and she said she was trying to stay positive. She left.
Kyle came home and was shocked Summer was already packing and planning to move to Italy already. She stated that she had to make a clean fast break. He implored her to slow down and give him a chance to prove that she was wrong, but she was adamant that she was doing what was best for everyone involved. He vowed to follow her to Italy, if he had to, and tell her every day that he loved her and that they were supposed to be together. She protested, and he grabbed her hand and told her she couldnt just expect him to accept it. He said they loved each other, but she countered that she didnt love him the way he loved her, and she never would.
Kyle said that to accuse him of having feelings for Tara was one thing, but hed never believe Summer didnt love him. Summer turned her back to Kyle and silently wept. He said he knew she loved him; hed felt it and seen it in his eyes. She steeled herself and turned around. She told him to look into her eyes and tell her if he saw love there anymore. He fought back tears. He knew it wasnt possible her heart belonged to him, just like his belonged to her. Gesturing to her face, she said this was resentment borne of a heart too broken to take care of another womans child, especially when that woman was still in the picture. He asked what he could do to convince her that there was nothing going on between him and Tara. She told him to go be with Tara and Harrison. He refused to leave, but after she tearfully begged him to get out, he reluctantly did so. She broke down sobbing.
Downstairs in the hotel lobby, Phyllis texted Nick asking if there was news. Kyle walked in and asked if she was aware Summer was calling off the wedding and leaving the country. Phyllis knew, and she was sorry. He told her not to be sorry, but to do something and help him fix it. Phyllis was shocked by Summer, but she was an adult who made up her mind. He didnt see how Summer could say she didnt love him. It didn't make sense. Phyllis asked how he expected Summer to react to him having a son living in Genoa City. He asked if Phyllis was telling him that he had to walk away from his son to fix it. Phyllis didnt think Summer would respect that. He asked if she was telling them there was nothing he could do. She was sorry. He left. Lauren was concerned when she walked in saw Phyllis slamming a phone receiver into the base. She asked if this mood had anything to do with the urgent message she got from Summer. Phyllis said of course it did. Lauren asked what was going on. It wasnt Phylliss place to say, but she asked Lauren to talk some sense into Summer.
Summer was upstairs when there was a knock on the door. She yelled for Kyle to go away, but Lauren responded. Summer opened the door and apologized. She pulled herself together and said she was leaving JCV. Lauren said she wasnt going to take the resignation that easily. Lauren thought Summer loved JCV, and she didnt understand why she was suddenly leaving. Summer explained she got a job offer to be the creative director at Marchetti. Lauren remembered Sally and Summer talking about that job. Lauren was impressed. Summer said she didnt go job hunting Angelina Marchetti called her out of the blue and made her an offer. Lauren thought that was very unusual. Summer agreed it was a big surprise. She was sorry to leave JCV in the lurch, but Angelina wanted her to start right away, and she couldnt pass this up. Lauren asked what about Kyle. Summer said it didnt work out. Lauren asked if Summer was running away from her problems. Summer said she wouldnt deny she was running, but it was her decision, and at least she was running somewhere great. After Lauren left, Summer called Angelina and finalized things; then after she hung up, she took off her engagement ring.
Back downstairs, Nick told Phyllis that he was going to go to Italy with Summer to get her settled in. she asked if he wanted to get on the plane with Summer and convince her to come back. That was tempting ,but as much as he hated this and as sure as he was that it was impulsive, he knew that Summer stuck to her decisions, just like her mother. He invited Phyllis to come too; they could explore Italy. She didnt think Summer would like that shed feel smothered. He got it. He just had to go with Summer and make sure she was safe. Phyllis loved that Nick was putting his feelings aside and doing what was best for their daughter. It wasnt easy, he said, he just hoped Summer didnt regret this decision. Phyllis kept wondering if she and Nick did this to Summer. She said Summer grew up with Nick bouncing between Phyllis and Sharon. Phyllis felt like Faith and Summer were in the same position that Harrison was in. Nick realized Phyllis was suggesting Summer feared Kyle and Taras co-parenting would bring them back together. Phyllis said Summer was probably afraid history would repeat itself. He conceded that they may have not painted a shining example for Summer, but they were happy and in love now, and they had to hope Summer would find that too.
Nick went to Summers suite to tell her that he got the Newman jet all gassed up to take her to Italy first thing in the morning. He said he was going to go with her. She said he didnt have to, but he said he wanted to. He asked if she was sure this was what she wanted. It was. He looked sad, but he joked that he had to learn to say Supergirl in Italian.
At the Abbott house, Kyle poured himself one drink after another. Tara came home and asked Kyle if he was alright. She said he looked like his whole world just fell apart, and he replied that it kind of had. She said she was here for him.
