Victor showed up at Victoria’s office. After noting that she never responded to his message, he asked how her trip to NY was, and when she said great, he felt that she was being coy. He asked why she visited NY with Ashland. She was enjoying getting to know Ashland. She hoped Victor wouldn’t overreact. Victor said he was just gathering information. She said it was too bad Newman Media wasn’t developing their own content right now because a story on her and Ashland flying to NY would get lots of views. She made up a salacious headline for the article Newman Media could’ve run. He said he liked to keep his family’s lives private, and he wouldn’t take advantage of Ashland’s situation. He kind of respected Ashland. She countered that he made Ashland sign a deal while he was in the midst of a heart attack. He said he wouldn’t have let Ashland die. He didn’t see what the big deal was, since Ashland was back at the top of his game. He thought he and Ashland had similar attitudes toward business. He didn't like his daughter being involved with a man going through a bitter divorce, though. She stated that it might be more civil than he thought. He contended that she didn't know Ashland well enough to know how he’d react in a given situation. She conceded his point, but she said she knew Ashland better than Victor did.

Nikki struck up a conversation with Ashland at Crimson Lights. She said that Victor told her things were going well with Ashland maintaining a seat on the board at Newman Media. He was glad his company landed in capable hands. She replied that her entire family excelled at business. He sensed she wanted to discuss a different family member. She confirmed she wanted to discuss Victoria. He said he and Victoria were developing a wonderful friendship. He admired Victoria’s drive, compassion intelligence, and he thought Nikki must be proud to have raised such an amazing woman. Nikki couldn’t take credit for who Victoria was, but she was proud of her. He was impressed Nikki and Victoria worked together. She said they didn’t let business get in the way of family.

Nikki was confident that Victoria could take care of herself, however, she hadn’t forgotten how Ashland toyed with her during the Cyaxares deal, and she didn’t want that to happen again. Nor did Nikki relish Victoria having to deal with what came with having to deal with a powerful man on the rebound. He said he wasn’t on the rebound, and he wouldn’t take advantage of Victoria’s friendship. He explained that he and Victoria were open about only wanting to be friends. “My time here – in Genoa City, it’s finite,” he stated, and he and Victoria were enjoying each other’s company while he was here. She felt he could set his mind at ease by having cocktails with her, Victoria and Victor. Meanwhile, back at Newman Enterprises, Victor made the same suggestion to Victoria that Nikki had to Ashland. Ashland texted Victoria about the invitation and said he’d go if she would. Victoria asked Victor if he and Nikki hatched this scheme together. He said it was just a social outing.

Victoria went to the The Grand Phoenix a bit early and talked with Ashland before they were to meet with her parents. He was staying there now, and she asked how he got Phyllis to change her mind. He said he almost always got what he wanted. Victoria had experienced the joys of outplaying Phyllis. He asked if he looked okay – he didn’t want to make a bad impression. She was sorry her parents set them up like this. He said it’d been a long time since he felt like a teenager getting a once-over for asking out the most popular girl in town. He thought this should be fun. He knew her parents were trying to look out for her, and he said he and Victor had a good rapport. Victoria said Victor disapproved of almost every man in her life. Ashland said it was probably because Victor knew most men weren’t good enough for Victoria. She laughed. He said Nikki grilled him pretty good. Victoria said Nikki could be overprotective, but she respected Victoria and her choices. Victoria thanked Ashland for going along with this. She knew he had far more important things on his mind. All he wanted to think about was spending time with her in the last months. He asked her not to tell anyone about his illness, and she said she’d never do that. Victor and Nikki arrived, and the men went to the lounge. Victoria stayed with Nikki by the bar, but she whirled around when she heard Victor ask Ashland what happened in NY.

Abby was at Devon’s place. She thanked him for having her, and he said she was always welcome. She was upset, because she hadn’t heard from Chance since he called, she heart him shouting and the line went dead. She’d been up all night hoping to hear from him, but she hadn’t. Devon understood Abby’s fear, but he suggested it was just a bad connection. She hoped so. She swore she wouldn’t cry, but he assured her she could if she wanted to. She was desperate to stay positive – she had a baby on the way, the restaurant was doing great, and Chance was working to make the world a better place, but still. Devon pulled out a package from Chance that he’d received a few weeks ago. It came with instructions to give it to Abby when she needed it most. The note for Devon said Chance missed Abby and was counting down the minutes until he could see her and the baby. He asked Devon to give the gift to Abby when she needed it most. Abby wanted to put the letter in the baby book. She opened the package – inside was Chance’s favorite sweatshirt and a note with instructions to wear it and feel him wrapped around her. She breathed it in and held it close.

Abby recalled that Chance gave her the sweatshirt to wear when they went ice skating on their second date. It was the first night she and Chance were together, and it felt special. She hoped that wasn’t TMI. Devon didn’t mind. She loved that Chance sent that to one of her closest friends. She just wanted to hear from him. Devon gave Abby a pep talk, and she said it helped. He made her food and played her an album by an artist he’d signed to Winter’s Mood, and she loved it. She felt lucky to have him, and she thought the baby would be too. She asked how to thank him. Her smile was all the thanks he needed. At some point, Abby left.

Nate and Moses were at Society discussing Moses’s summer plans. Moses hoped to have a bit of fun between his work at the hospital and internships at AskMDNow and the clinic. He said Nate was his role model. Elena came in, and Nate invited her to join them for crab cakes. Nate mentioned the crab cakes were better in Maryland, and he told Moses that Elena was offered a job in Baltimore. Moses was surprised that Elena was considering taking it. They ate their crab cakes and talked. Elena had a lot of things to consider – she’d she put roots down here, but the job in Baltimore offered a higher salary. She noted that Nate wouldn’t give her advice. He kept clearing his throat as he said that the job was too good to pass up, the hospital had a stellar reputation, and it’d an honor to join the staff there. He only wanted her to be happy. He touched his neck and spoke hoarsely, then he said he couldn’t breathe and slumped over.

Moses asked if Nate was choking. Elena went to Nate and cradled his head, while she told Moses to get an Epipen from the host. Moses didn’t know what that was. Elena told him it was a shot for allergies. Later, the shot worked, and Nate was breathing again. Elena aid they’d take him to the hospital just to get checked. He’d never had an allergic reaction before, but he knew allergies could develop at any point in life. She was glad society had epinephrine around for things like this. He felt lucky she was here when he needed her.

Elena and Nate took Moses home and told Devon what happened. Nate was fine now, though he’d miss eating crab cakes. Moses looked upset. He’d thought Nate would die. Devon reassured him. Moses said he froze, but Elena never lost her head – she was amazing. Nate said she literally saved her life. Nate was going to go home and rest. He said he owed Moses a meal. Nate and Elena left. Devon asked Moses what was wrong. Moses wondered what kind of doctor he’d make if he freaked out in an emergency. Devon suggested Moses might be traumatized because he lost Neil suddenly and at a young age. Moses said Neil’s death was part of the reason he wanted to be a doctor. But today he was worthless. Devon told Moses not to talk about himself that way. Devon said everyone got scared when someone close to them was in jeopardy, and medical school would teach Moses how to deal with it. He guaranteed Elena was just as scared for Nate, but the difference was she had years of experience training herself to put aside her emotions to deal with the situation. He promised in time, Moses would get there too. Moses smiled.

Elena and Nate went to Crimson Lights. He was sure a thank you wasn’t enough. She said she was a doctor, and that was what they did. He wasn’t able to say what he’d wanted to before, since he almost died. He said she had to do what was right for her, but he didn’t want her to take the job. She asked if he was getting emotional because she saved him. He said maybe a little, but there was a lot more to why he wanted her to stay.

At the hotel, Kyle and Summer discussed the news that Ashland was dying. Kyle was going to support Harrison and Tara as best as he could. They saw Phyllis walking up, and he reminded Summer not to mention Ashland’s illness. Phyllis joined them and said she didn’t expect to see Kyle. Kyle was just dropping Summer off so she and Phyllis could plan the wedding. Summer and Phyllis went upstairs. Billy ran into Kyle and said he wanted to give him fair warning about the story ChancComm was going to run.

Kyle and Billy sat down that the bar. Billy said ChancComm was going to run a story on the Locke’s divorce. They sat on it while it was under wraps, but now that it was out, they had to cover it. He knew he and Kyle hadn’t always seen eye to eye, but he hoped Kyle understood. Kyle knew it’d get out eventually. He wanted to know the story’s angle. His biggest concern was Harrison. Billy said they wouldn’t make Harrison a priority in the story, but they couldn’t run it without him. He said that if ChancComm wanted to maintain their credibility, they couldn’t avoid Abbott-related news. Kyle knew he couldn’t stop Billy, but he was sure the story would only get bigger and that Billy would be tempted to use his connections to create headlines. Billy said it was about the facts, and they didn’t want to hurt anyone. Kyle said that would happen anyway. He said Harrison was too young to understand, but if Tara was under scrutiny, it’d be harder for her to hide her emotions from him. He implored Billy to think of what Johnny and Katie went through when he was falsely accused of shooting Chance. Kyle knew Billy said it wasn’t personal, but it was personal, and they were family. He asked Billy to reconsider.

Kyle knew he was asking a lot, but he said there were a lot of people Billy cared about who were involved, including Victoria. Billy didn’t realize Kyle knew. Kyle said yes, he knew she was seeing Ashland. Kyle said Billy had to think about the impact the article might have on Johnny and Katie. Billy said Victoria wasn’t a factor, since she and Ashland weren’t in a relationship, and she had nothing to do with the divorce. He’d take this under advisement, though. Billy asked how Summer was doing. Kyle asked if Billy was gathering quotes for the story. Billy said their conversation was off the record. Kyle said Summer had been accepting and understanding, and they’d never been stronger. Billy wished Kyle and Summer the best. Billy spoke from Summer’s perspective and said it wasn’t easy to accept that someone your partner once loved would now be a permanent fixture in your life – because make no mistake, Kyle getting involved in Harrison’s life meant Tara would be involved too.

Upstairs in a suite, Summer was thinking about a blue palette for the wedding. Phyllis mentioned that was Summer’s favorite color. Summer wanted a signature cocktail with bourbon because Kyle would love that. Phyllis found a pastry chef, and Summer said she and Kyle should schedule a tasting ASAP. Phyllis asked if Summer pushed up the wedding because she couldn’t wait to start her new life or if it was because Tara and Harrison were making her feel insecure. If it was the latter, that was no reason to rush down the aisle, Phyllis said. Summer admitted she got a bit insecure, but Kyle had done everything he could to show her that nothing ahd changed between them. She couldn’t wait to be Kyle’s wife, and she thought, in time, she’d be a good stepmom. Phyllis didn’t doubt Kyle’s love, but she had reservations about Tara. Phyllis said a woman like that would do anything to use her kid as a wedge. Summer said Phyllis didn’t know Tara. Phyllis maintained that she knew the type. She said Kyle’s mom, Diane, used Kyle as a wedge between Phyllis and Jack. “And I may or may not have done the same thing,” Phyllis quickly mumbled. She said it was so easy for the lines to get blurred when you thought it was best for your kid. She told Summer to watch Tara. Summer said she and Tara had a couple private conversations about how they supported each other, but Summer wasn’t taking Tara at face value.

Tara meant Sally in the park. Tara claimed she didn’t know why she even came, but Sally suggested that they stop pretending. Sally said they needed to work together to rid themselves of Summer. Sally was glad Tara had decided to stop being an unwilling participant in their alliance. She assumed it had something to do with Summer and Kyle announcing an August wedding. Sally said Summer saw what an effect Harrison was having on Kyle, and she knew Tara wasn’t going anywhere, so she made a move to lock down her future. Tara said Summer was savvy. Sally had been making plans for Summer to accept a job out of the country. Tara didn’t think Summer would take the job. She said that she couldn’t make Kyle fall in love with her overnight – they were getting closer and bonding over Harrison, but he didn’t look at her like that. Sally was sure he would in time. Sally said she and Tara had to pave the way for Summer’s exit.

Tara wasn’t sure she wanted to hear this new idea to get Summer out of town. Tara felt that Sally put on a genuine and friendly front, but she was really manipulative and devious, and Tara wasn’t sure she could be trusted. Sally scoffed at being called devious. She said she was a survivor, and so was Tara. Tara felt Sally was making a lot of assumptions about her. Sally claimed to be a good judge of character. Sally said they had to trust each other. Tara asked what if the plan blew up in their faces. Sally said it wouldn’t because she knew how much Summer loved Kyle, and that was the key to making plan work.

Summer met Kyle at the Abbott house. Just as they said they loved each other, Tara walked in. He informed them that ChancComm was going to do an article on the divorce. Tara knew Harrison’s paternity situation would eventually go public, and she dreaded that day. Kyle did too, but he said they’d get through it together. He was worried about how the media attention would affect Ashland, and he wanted to get the custody agreement finalized soon. Tara said Harrison was playing in the front yard with the nanny, and he mentioned that he wanted to go to the park with his daddy again. Kyle was happy to do that, as soon as he and Summer finished talking. Summer said they could talk later. He appreciated her understanding. He left. Tara hoped Summer could see how profound Kyle and Harrison’s bond was. Summer said she absolutely did. Tara said that meant Summer wouldn’t do anything to get in the way of the bond between Kyle and Harrison, right. Summer seemed suspicious, but she said right. “I have a proposition for you,” Tara stated.

Sally went to Crimson Lights and called Eric. She told him it was the perfect time to recommend Summer for the job. He agreed to do it. He congratulated Sally on working hard to build a new life. He said she was talented, and maybe if Summer took the job, Sally could take over JCV. Sally said that would be a dream come true.
