Billy ran into Victoria at Crimson Lights. They chatted, and she noted that he looked calm for someone who’d just posted a scathing article about her father. He mentioned that he’d bumped into Victor, who’d appeared calm about the write-up. Billy knew it was an act and that Victor had something cooking, so he wasn’t letting his guard down. Victoria was relieved Billy didn’t out her as his source. He said he’d never do that. Victoria was the one who told Billy how Victor took advantage of Locke during his heart attack. Billy learned a lesson after the exposé with Adam. He said there was no story that was worth hurting innocent people. Victoria wondered if this new attitude was Lily’s influence. Billy liked to believe he could learn from his mistakes – he’d made enough of them. She said he wasn’t the only one who wanted to start doing things differently. Billy mentioned that the kids’ rooms were almost ready so they could have a sleepover. Victoria said they’d schedule something. Ashland called, so Victoria took a few steps away from the table. She accepted his invitation to dinner tonight and ended the call. Billy thought Victoria was swimming in treacherous waters. She told him to live his life, and she’d live hers.

At Society. Adam had some ideas about Newman Media’s streaming platform that could give them an edge over the competition. Victor stated that yesterday, when he suggested eliminating the competition, Adam wanted to put the idea on hold. Adam noted that Victor’s proposal was narrowly focused on Billy. Adam was talking about eliminating all the competition. Victor wondered why Adam was so reluctant to move forward with their plan to target Billy. Adam said he changed. His past attempts to get his life on track had gone off the rails, but he thought he had a chance this time. Victor was glad for Adam, but he thought Billy had to answer for trying to ruin Adam’s life. Adam didn’t want to get caught up with tit-for-tat vengeance, which could could counteract their PR campaign with New Hope. He didn’t want to play into Billy and Lily’s narrative. He wanted to beat ChancComm by leaving them in the dust. He thought that would be more satisfying.

Victor was happy to see Adam so energized. Adam intended to make the most of this incredible opportunity Victor gave him. Victor said Ashland got cold feet when Adam disappeared, and he tried to use it as leverage to renegotiate. Victor had to play hardball – it was what he did. Adam realized they were back on the topic of Billy. Victor wanted to teach Billy a lesson he’d never forget. Adam thought that might set things back with Nick. Victor said Nick couldn’t stand Billy, especially after he wrote the article that upset Faith. Adam said Nick didn’t go after Billy because he realized the cost would be too great. Victor said if they let it go, it’d embolden Billy to come out with another article trying to ruin their reputation. Adam thought Victor put him in charge for a reason, and he asked to do this his way. Victor agreed to do that, for now.

In her suite, Amanda introduced Devon to Denise, the private investigator. Denise was nearing retirement, but she’d agreed to help Amanda solve one last mystery. Denise still had all her notes from when she tracked down Richard Nealon’s missing child. She’d located a relative of the baby’s foster family, the Lewises, who still had some of their records in the attic. Devon was surprised Mrs. Lewis let a complete stranger look through her relatives’ files. Denise said Mrs. Lewis was willing to help because Denise told her that she was hired by the baby’s real father, who was trying to make things right. Amanda stated that Richard died just after Denise gave him Mrs. Lewis’s address. Denise really wanted to find that little girl, all grown up now, and let her know how desperate her father was to find her. Amanda seemed moved by this.

Amanda and Devon went through the papers Denise left them. Amanda vaguely remembered that foster mother, Mrs. Lewis, making notes on everything and keeping detailed calendars. Amanda smiled when she found Mrs. Lewis’s old calendars in the file. She gasped when she saw Richard Nealon’s name on one of them. Devon wondered if Amanda met her father, but she was too young to remember. Amanda clarified that the appointment was set for after his death. The Lewises probably didn’t know why he never showed up. She couldn’t get over how close she got to knowing her father – he could’ve taken her home and raised her. Devon thought Richard was incredible to keep searching for Amanda while Naya’s family was shutting him out. She couldn’t get over knowing her father spent his last days on this earth looking for her.

Amanda thought she had to stop thinking about this as Richard’s daughter and think about how this would affect Sutton’s case, and this information didn’t help her. Devon said especially since Sutton tied Amanda’s hands. Amanda said that if Sutton let her, she could prove the prosecution was way off base – Richard wasn’t calling Sutton’s campaign office to confront him about a bribe, he was asking for help finding his daughter. She said if someone killed Richard over a bribe, it was more likely to be someone at Newman who was afraid of getting caught. According to Imani, Sutton was completely against revealing any connection between Naya and Richard or the babies. Devon understood that a politician’s daughter getting pregnant out of wedlock was scandalous thirty years ago, but nobody cared about that these days. Amanda thought it was a small price to pay to clear Sutton’s name. Devon thought it was odd that Sutton wasn’t talking to his lead attorney. Amanda thought Sutton shut her out to teach to teach her a lesson. “Like you’re a child?” said Devon. He didn’t understand why Sutton would be angry with Amanda, who was only trying to keep him out of prison. Amanda acknowledged that, in Sutton’s defense, she was threatening to reveal a painful and dark family secret. Devon thought there was more to it. He wondered if Naya was more fragile than they knew; maybe she’d had a breakdown before, and Sutton was afraid she’d have another. Amanda said Sutton was a proud man used to calling the shots. She wondered if he thought all he had to do was declare his innocence and blame someone else. She had to make sure her family understood the risks. She stated that Sutton’s pride might cost him his freedom.

Imani bumped into Nate on the Crimson Lights patio. She was surprised he remembered her name, and he said it was hard to forget. He asked what it meant, and she told him it meant Faith in Swahili. He asked if Amanda was joining her, and she said she was on her own. The person he was supposed to be meeting stood him up, so he asked if she’d like to join him. She was impressed he was a doctor who ran a clinic in his spare time. He added that he was also the spokesperson for AskMDNow. Laughing, she said that was why he looked so familiar. She knew she’d seen him before, and there was something about that face that made her feel smarter, healthier and safer. People from the public were starting to recognize him too. He entertained her with an anecdote about a lady in the grocery store who started undressing because she wanted him to look at her mole. Elena arrived and saw them laughing.

Nate introduced Imani as Amanda’s colleague. Imani left, and Nate was going to leave too, but Elena asked him to stay so she could get his advice. Before she could get started, Devon walked in. They talked a bit about the Winter’s Mood label in honor of Neil. Elena thought that Neil would be pleased the profits were going toward the substance abuse program. Nate offered to have Moses stay with him if Devon ever had to leave town to see an artist. Devon went inside, and Elena commented that things seemed more relaxed between him and Nate. Nate said things weren’t back to where they were, but they definitely made progress. Elena explained that Carol, one of their former coworker, who’d relocated to Baltimore, told Elena about an opening for an attending physician at a hospital there. Elena sent in an application, and they offered her the job. Now she needed to decide whether to take it. She loved Genoa City, she’d made great friends and she was proud of the clinic and her work at the hospital, but she was also excited by the idea of starting fresh in a new place. She could rent a room from Carol, and it’d be a step up career-wise, and she’d be making more money, but she didn’t want that to be her deciding factor. She asked what he thought. He was surprised she was thinking of leaving, but he could see why it’d be hard to turn down this opportunity. She asked if he could think of any reason she shouldn’t take the job in Baltimore.

Imani went to Amanda’s suite, and Amanda shared that Richard had set up a meeting with the Lewises just before he died. Imani understood this was meaningful to Amanda, but she thought this investigation could wait. Right now, Amanda was supposed to be working on Sutton’s defense, Imani said. Amanda said she was doing that. She thought the jury needed the whole story. Imani countered that Sutton didn’t want that, and Amanda said she needed to hear that from him. Imani denied manipulating her grandfather into taking this position. Amanda argued that Sutton was an intelligent man who wouldn’t put himself at a disadvantage. Imani agreed. Amanda noted that Imani had made it clear that family secrets should stay hidden. Imani said her priority was keeping her grandfather out of prison, and a murder conviction would be far more damaging to their social standing than an unwed pregnancy. Imani said she could be convinced that exposing the secret was the right thing to do, but it wasn’t her call – Sutton was the one facing the charges. Imani said Sutton was trying to protect Naya and Amanda. Amanda didn’t see how she figured into it. Imani said Sutton knew how important it was to Amanda to hide her connection to the family, and if part of the secret came out, the rest could too. Amanda didn’t believe for a second that he was making this choice for her sake, especially since she was the one arguing against it. Amanda said she’d rather have her parentage revealed than lose the case. Imani said she wasn’t the one who needed convincing – Amanda needed to talk to Sutton. Amanda agreed, and she told Imani to set up a meeting.

Jack, Phyllis and Nick were all at the Abbott house after a mysterious text from Kyle and Summer. They wondered what their kids were up to. Phyllis asked about Tara. Jack said Harrison was outside with the nanny, and Tara had been out for awhile. Summer and Kyle came in, and they had pastries from Phyllis’s favorite bakery. Phyllis was sure that was a bad sign. Summer and Kyle had good news, and they hoped their parents loved them enough to trust them on this. The wedding was back on. Nick thought they’d agreed to slow things down until the situation with the little boy was resolved. Phyllis said Ashland was very demeaning to his wife – to all women – and this was going to be a long and drawn out custody battle. Kyle conceded it might get ugly. “And you would like Summer to get caught up in the middle of it,” Nick said. Jack thought they should hear Kyle and Summer out. Summer said they appreciated their parents advice, and knew they had their best interest at heart. Phyllis told Kyle it wasn’t personal, but this situation was unpredictable. Summer knew Kyle would handle any problems with honesty and responsibly, and even though he’d been under an insane amount of stress, he’d shown her nothing but compassion. She couldn’t wait to be his wife. Nick acknowledged that Summer had made up her mind, and he didn’t have anything else to add. She wanted her parents to say they were happy for her. Phyllis grabbed a pastry and took a big bite. Nick wanted nothing more than for Summer to be happy, and he was impressed and proud of the way Kyle stepped up for his son. Kyle understood Nick’s protectiveness more than ever, now that he had his own son to protect. Phyllis told Kyle that this situation he’d created was going to change his life forever in ways he didn’t realize. She advised taking a step back. Summer knew that meant logical sense, but it didn’t feel right. Summer and Kyle stated that they already felt like they’d committed to each other for life. Jack was glad Kyle and Summer had each other, and he said they’d always have their families. Phyllis rolled her eyes but agreed that they had Summer and Kyle’s backs. Nick put is concerns aside and trusted them to make the best decision. Summer appreciated that. Kyle planned to make sure Nick never regretted this. Phyllis groaned that they had a wedding to plan.

Summer and Kyle were alone at the mansion. Kyle went and got Harrison and introduced him to Summer. Harrison wouldn’t say hi when Kyle told him to. Summer didn’t mind – she knew he’d been meeting a lot of strangers and that could get kind of scary. He nodded. She told him they’d have a lot of time to get to know each other. Summer gave Harrison the toy submarine she bought, and she told him that her little brother had one too. Harrison focused on the toy, and Summer said she didn’t blame him because no one was as cool as that toy. Kyle reiterated that they’d have a lot of time to get to know each other. He said they’d watch Harrison grow up together. She had to go resume wedding planning. He thought it was a minor miracle that they got Nick back on board. She figured Nick saw how strong their love was. Kyle directed Harrison to say goodbye and thanks to Summer. He added that the three of them were going to have lots of fun together.

Inside Crimson Lights, Tara was on the phone with her lawyer. She knew the prenup was airtight, but she asked if they could a judge to order that Ashland at least keep paying the nanny. The call ended. Mariah walked up and introduced herself as a friend of Kyle’s, explaining that she couldn’t help but overhear. She mentioned seeing Tara at the engagement party. Tara hated to intrude. Mariah understood why Tara did – it was an emergency, and from the sound of the call, things weren’t any better. Tara kept forgetting she wasn’t in NYC anymore, where people were too busy to pay attention to a stranger’s phone call. Mariah said in Genoa City, they cared about their friends and spoke up when they heard something that concerned them. Tara didn’t want to be rude, but the Abbots had warned her that not everyone in the town had her best interests at heart. Mariah said they were probably talking about Sally and Theo, and she promised she wasn’t like them. Tara hoped Mariah understood she couldn’t take her word for it. Mariah understood, since she didn’t trust Tara either.

Tara thought Mariah saw her as a threat. Mariah knew that Kyle was a mess when he was living in NY, because he and Summer just broke up, and he was in a bad place emotionally. Mariah stated that maybe Tara didn’t notice or she didn’t care, but it was possible that she saw how vulnerable Kyle was and took advantage of him. Tara knew Mariah was being protective of her friend. She was adamant that she wasn’t taking advantage of Kyle then or now. Tara was completely focused on taking care of her son. Mariah said that was Kyle’s son too. Tara figured she’d have to get used to everyone in this town knowing her business. Mariah said welcome to Genoa City. Tara was grateful that Kyle had been so welcoming to her and Harrison. Mariah asked how Summer was handling it. Tara said Summer had her concerns, as anyone would. She hoped Summer and Kyle worked things out because she didn’t want to be a problem for them. Mariah said Summer wasn’t her favorite person, but she was Kyle’s favorite person. Mariah said Summer and Kyle had dramatic breakups, and they’d been with other people, but Kyle had been in love with Summer forever, and they kept coming back to each other. Jack walked in. Mariah thought the Kyle and Summer were meant to be. Tara said that sounded lovely. Tara greeted Jack then she said she was going back to Harrison.

Jack asked Mariah how she knew Tara. She said she didn’t. He assumed Kyle had filled her in. Mariah said Kyle needed a sounding board after he found out he had a son, especially after Tara told him to keep the paternity a secret forever. Jack thought it was best that it was out in the open. He wondered why she’d been having an intense conversation with Tara. Mariah thought Tara should know Kyle and Summer were indestructible. Jack wondered why Mariah thought Tara needed to hear that, and she said no reason. She said she was a cynic who didn’t trust anyone. She left for the office.

Tara went home, and Kyle told her that Harrison spent time with Summer, and it went well. He said Harrison was a bit shy, but he’d been the same way with Kyle at first. On the advice of his lawyer, he’d filed a paternity acknowledgment form with the vital records office. It was such a big moment to him, but to the clerk, it was just a piece of paper. Tara said it was a big moment, as far as she and Harrison were concerned. She thanked him for making it official. He told her the wedding was back on, and she was glad they worked it out. He went to the kitchen, and she sighed.
