Adam and Victor met at Society and discussed the trouble Adam’s lawyer was having getting the restraining order keeping Adam from Connor vacated. Victor and Adam both assumed this would be a simple matter since it was only granted because Adam was a fugitive at the time, but it had turned into a bureaucratic nightmare. Victor offered to make some calls, but Adam said no. Adam changed the subject since there were there to talk about Newman Media’s launch. Adam was going to handle the technical side of the launch, while Victor did some re-branding and marketing. Victor wanted Noah to design them a new logo. While Adam was okay with that, he wasn’t sure how Noah would feel about working with him. He said Noah was a loyal son who soaked up a lot of Nick’s not so genuine opinions of Adam. Victor thought Noah would be on board once he found out Adam and Nick were mending fences. Victor planned to call his grandson. Victor read something on his phone about an investigation. Adam asked if it was about Sutton Ames. Earlier, he saw Victor’s name in an article on Richard’s death, and he asked if it’d be a problem. Victor said it was just a nuisance.

Victor thought he and Adam made a good start, and they agreed to meet later. Adam was sorry he wasn’t 100%. He was distracted because of the restraining order keeping him from his son. Again, Victor offered to make some calls. Adam appreciated the offer, but was going to try another tactic first. He thought he was wasting time with the lawyer. He was going to do what was necessary, just like Victor would. Adam left, and Devon walked in and went up to the bar. Victor inquired about the tribute Devon was putting together for Neil. Devon said it was going well. Victor shifted gears and mentioned that Amanda came to him about a case. Devon wasn’t at liberty to discuss it. Victor said this was the kind of case that could make or break a legal career. He hoped Amanda didn’t make a big mistake. Victor gave his regards and left.

Rey went to Chelsea’s hospital room and woke her up. She mentioned that she’d dreamed she was in the park with Connor when he was a toddler. It felt so real. Rey was sorry he pulled Chelsea from a nice dream. Michael walked in and Mr. Montgomery, Chelsea’s lawyer, arrived shortly afterward. They were here to collect Chelsea’s statement for the judge. Rey told Chelsea there was no pressure, they just needed her to explain what happened. Chelsea stated she had a stroke, and her rehab wasn’t going well, then Adam decided to bring in the love of his life – Sharon Newman, to help. Chelsea said Adam kept saying he wanted to help her get better, but it was just an excuse to have Sharon over every day. Chelsea worked hard to recover, because she wasn’t just going to sit there and watch Adam and Sharon have an affair. First she regained the ability to use her hand, then her arm, once she could walk, she made her way to Sharon’s. She was adamant that Sharon and Adam needed to pay. Michael asked if Chelsea did this on her own. Chelsea said she couldn’t risk confiding in anyone else, so she did it all by herself. She obtained poison, but she did her research and only gave Rey enough to make him sick. “I am not a killer,” she insisted. Michael asked why she did it. “Because if Sharon was gonna take everything away from me, I wanted her to know what that felt like!” she snapped.

Chelsea concluded that her actions were justified. “I was betrayed, Rey. So were you,” she said. Michael and Rey left. Mr. Montgomery told Chelsea that after she was charged, she would enter a plea. In the hallway, Michael said Chelsea and her attorney were trying to build a diminished capacity offense. Michael had watched Chelsea in the room, and she wasn’t herself, so he wasn’t going to oppose the motion. Mr. Montgomery exited the room. The attorneys left, but Rey went back to see Chelsea. He had something to tell her, off the record, that he thought might help. He hoped she could trust this coming from him. He told her that there was no affair. He’d been worried Adam and Sharon were involved, and it nearly ended his marriage, but after talking to Sharon and Adam, he was confident nothing happened. He knew she felt strongly about this, but he was afraid it was all in her head. Chelsea exclaimed that she knew what she saw – the affair was real. Rey gently told Chelsea it wasn’t true. He thought he could convince her that Adam was faithful, if she let him.

Rey was no psychiatrist, but he thought it was Chelsea’s condition causing paranoia that lead her to mistakenly think Sharon and Adam were having an affair. Chelsea knew Rey wanted to believe that, but she said this had been going on for a long time. He conceded that Sharon and Adam had a deep connection, and maybe Adam would’ve taken it further if he could’ve. He brought up the photo of the kiss. She said that if Adam and Sharon went that far in public, why was it hard for him to believe they’d do more in private. He said he needed evidence to support his assumptions and theories. She thought her eyewitness account was evidence. He asked if any of the things she thought she saw Adam and Sharon do after the stroke, like flaunting the affair, lined up with the way they acted before the stroke. She yelled that it lined up with Sharon and Adam’s entire history. He said Sharon and Adam were together in the past, but things were different. She said if he believed that, he was delusional. She pointed out that Sharon and Adam had said they were through before, but they were never able to cut ties. He agreed, but he said that was different than being romantically involved. He asked if she really thought Sharon and Adam would go out of their way to rub the affair in Chelsea’s face. He knew for a fact that Sharon didn’t have that kind of cruelty in her. She said he just didn’t want to see it. He gently asked if he was making any sense. “I was wrong? About all of it? No. there’s no way,” she said.

Chelsea apologized profusely, she said she hurt him so badly, but she thought she had a reason, and now he was telling her it wasn’t true and it was all for nothing. She cried that she was a terrible person. Rey said he told Chelsea this so she’d heal, not to make her feel guilty. She said she did this because she thought Adam was a lying cheater. She wondered if she’d been wrong the whole time. Chelsea said she could see Sharon and Adam walking up the stairs, but it didn’t happen. “I’m not well, am I?,’ she stated. Rey said if the judge accepted the plea, Chelsea would have plenty of time to sort through this. He decided to leave so she could start healing. She asked what was going on with Adam. He didn’t know or care. In order for him and Sharon to rebuild their marriage, they had to put Adam behind them. He thought that Chelsea should forgive herself and forget about Adam. Chelsea was glad Rey and Sharon held onto their relationship. Rey forgave Chelsea, and she thanked him. She knew it sounded weird, but she asked if he could visit her sometimes. She felt comforted by his presence, and she felt like he got her. He said he’d ask her doctor if it was allowed, and if it was approved, he’d come back. He left, and she broke into a sly grin.

Dr. Hedges showed Adam into Chelsea’s room. She was alarmed, but the doctor said it’d be good for her progress – something he could report to the court. The doctor left. Adam forgave Chelsea and took the blame for putting her in this position. He said their son didn’t have a parent he could count on. She was adamant that Connor could count on her, but he said not while she was in the hospital. He asked her to let him be a father again, and she said no. Chelsea noted that Adam admitted he was to blame for this. He said she knew he was a good father, and the only thing that mattered was what was best for Connor. She refused to let him see her son before she did. He said he wouldn’t badmouth her to Connor. He told her this wasn’t about getting to Connor first and creating a narrative – it was about a confused boy who’d had very little contact with his parents for the last few months. He said they couldn’t keep creating excuses for why he was at boarding school. “It is time, Chelsea,” he stated. She spat that she thought he’d try to poison Connor against her. She yelled that Adam hadn’t changed and never would. Dr. Hedges returned because of the screaming. Chelsea snarled that she was going to get out of the hospital and get Connor and keep him away from Adam. Dr. Hedges agreed with Adam’s proposal. The doctor told Chelsea that things would change, but until then, Connor needed to know he had a parent he could count on right now. He added that irrationally arguing about something that would help her cause and raise questions about her progress wouldn’t help her. “Chelsea, let Adam be a father to Connor,” Dr. Hedges said, while Adam nodded.

Sharon brought Faith to Crimson Lights, since she was feeling well. Faith felt like she was different since the last time she’d been here. So much had happened. Moses walked in and was happy to see Faith. She thanked him for the biology notes, but she admitted that she didn’t understand one of the topics, and he offered to help. Sharon told them to go study on the patio, while she got them some treats. Mariah walked in as Moses and Faith were leaving. Mariah was happy to see her little sister up and about. Sharon said Mariah should’ve seen Faith smiling on the way over, and now Faith had a friend. It was a good day in more ways than one. She said Rey was back home, for good, and the whole mess was finally behind them. Mariah was relieved to hear this. Sharon said that the final sticking point was the alleged affair between her and Adam. At first, Rey couldn’t get past Chelsea’s allegations, and if he couldn’t believe Sharon, what did that mean for their relationship? Mariah grimaced because of something happening in her belly, and Sharon was concerned for the baby. Mariah was fine, she decided it was the baby’s way of showing approval for Sharon and Rey. Sharon appreciated that Mariah never gave up hope for her and Rey.

Sharon went out to check on the teens. Faith was struggling with biology, but she said Moses ad a great idea for her to do an extra credit project. Moses explained that he thought a visual exercise might help Faith more than reading about it. Faith assumed Moses was going to help, but he said he learned a lot when he did this on his own, and if he helped, he’d be cheating her out of the experience. Faith laughed – if she’d known she had to do it on her own, she wouldn’t have agreed to do it. Sharon went to get them refills. She texted Rey that she loved him.

Rey came to the coffeehouse and told Sharon that things with Chelsea went as well as it could’ve. Sharon was glad that Rey’s part in the case was done and they could focus on getting their lives back on track. He told her about Chelsea’s request that he visit. Sharon hoped he let Chelsea down gently. Rey planned to visit Chelsea. Sharon reminded Rey that yesterday, he said he thought it was possible that Chelsea was faking. He still hadn’t dismissed that suspicion. He said if Chelsea was faking, he should study her so he could prove it. If Chelsea wasn’t faking, and she needed him to heal, he wanted to be there for her. He said he wasn’t raised to turn his back on people.

Naya and Imani went to the hotel lounge to meet Amanda. Naya beamed and noted that Amanda was working hard as usual. Imani thought Amanda got it from Naya. Naya admitted she worked hard, but not like the superhuman Amanda. Amanda didn’t return her family’s smiles. She said they had a problem – Sutton’s case had gotten complicated. Amanda wasn’t going to be able to present the theory that Richard was killed by someone at Newman for blackmailing them. She found out that he wasn’t blackmailing anyone during the last two weeks of his life – he was looking for her. Naya and Imani didn’t understand how that was possible. Naya said she broke up with Richard and gave away the babies without him knowing a thing. Amanda said that she interviewed someone who told her that, before the crash, Richard was working with an investigator to find his child. Imani and Naya wanted to know who this mystery source was. Amanda refused to disclose the name, even after Imani pointed out that she was helping out with Sutton’s case. Amanda said they’d assumed Richard was fired from Newman for making waves, but in reality, he took a leave of absence to conduct the search. Naya argued that if that were true, Richard would’ve come to her. She asked why he’d be looking for one child when she had twins. Amanda didn’t know yet. She needed answers, and if she didn’t get them from Naya, she’d get them from someone else. Naya thought that sounded like a threat.

Imani didn’t think that this new information undermined the blackmail theory. She said Richard could’ve needed the money for a million reasons. Amanda thought that was very unlikely, given what the source told her. Naya snapped that Amanda had one job – clear Sutton’s name. She didn’t see how any of this helped. Amanda said even if this wasn’t extremely personal, it was important to this case. “Richard Nealon is no longer anonymous to me. He was looking for me. He wanted to know me,” Amanda said. It was getting harder for Amanda to believe that Naya wasn’t holding something back. “My mother – our mother has told you everything she knows,” Imani insisted. Imani said that Naya brought Amanda into the family, a gesture built on trust. Imani felt it was time for Amanda to return that trust. Naya needed some time to think, so she walked away.

Imani was angry with Amanda for saying those things. Amanda asked what Imani would do in her shoes. She noted that this was her father. Imani countered that Naya was Amanda’s mother. Imani felt Amanda insulted Naya, but Amanda was adamant that she’d done no such thing. Imani said this was brutal for her Naya; although she wasn’t in love with Richard, she gave birth to his twins. Imani told Amanda to think about how difficult it was for Naya – she found out Richard was murdered and her father was the suspect. Imani thought Amanda should have some empathy for Naya instead of insensitive questions. Amanda said these questions might be the only thing that would keep their grandfather out of prison.

Naya returned and apologized for getting emotional. She had no idea Richard knew, and she didn’t know how he found out she was pregnant. It broke her heart that Richard wanted to know the twins and died before he could find them. Imani thought they should go, so Naya could process things. Amanda countered that they were just getting started. Naya agreed with Imani - she needed time. She knew she could seem cold or stoic, but she had feelings, and this had affected her. She promised to be in touch. Amanda asked if Naya was telling the truth when she said she never talked to Richard after she broke things off. Naya vowed to try her best not to resent that question. She said of course she was being truthful. Naya and Imani left.

Amanda went to Devon’s, and he surprised her with food. She thanked him for his thoughtfulness and consideration. She said she’d never needed a hug more. After awhile at Devon’s, Amanda felt renewed. Devon asked if she was ready to talk about what happened with Imani and Naya. She wasn’t, and he didn’t pry. He told her about his meeting with Victor and how Victor hoped Amanda wasn’t going down the wrong path. She wished she knew what the right path was. She told him about her conversation with Naya and Imani. Amanda thought Naya was lying and that she had more interactions with Richard than she was admitting to. Devon was sorry if Naya was lying. He knew that wasn’t the kind of relationship Amanda wanted to have with her mom. Amanda wondered if the reason Richard went to Sutton was about her and Hilary and not about Newman. She said if Richard approached Sutton about the pregnancy, that changed everything. She wondered how it factored into his death.
