While Adam and Faith were shown in surgery, Phyllis, Nikki and Nick were in the waiting room. Phyllis asked Nick how he did the impossible – convinced Adam to give up his kidney and risk his freedom? He said he couldn’t divulge that information. She dropped the subject and said Faith was all that mattered.

In Faith’s room, Sharon asked Rey what their future would look like after Adam was arrested. He said they could talk about that after Faith was out of surgery. She realized he was wise to wait for this discussion. He had to leave, but he asked her to call him if he wasn’t back by the time Faith and Adam were out of surgery. He’d been left out of the loop recently, and he’d like to know. She asked if this had nothing to do with making sure Adam didn’t escape. He said he didn’t have to be here to do that – he cared about Faith. She promised to call.

From the waiting room, Nick’s interest was piqued when he saw Rey leaving. Nick decided to get some air, and Phyllis was going to go too, but he needed a minute, and he left alone. Nikki was sure Phyllis had more important things to do than hang out at the hospital. Phyllis stated that nothing was more important than supporting Nick and Faith. Phyllis did something on her phone, while Nikki glared at her. Phyllis thought Victor would be here. Nikki tensed because she thought Phyllis was implying that Victor didn’t care about Faith. Phyllis was just wondering. Nikki snapped that Victor was the reason Faith had top surgeons, and he’d be there as soon as he could be. Phyllis wasn’t questioning Victor’s love for Faith. She said to forget she said anything. Phyllis mentioned that Noah sent his love to everyone. She was keeping him up to speed because she knew Sharon and Nick couldn’t do it. Nikki thought Phyllis was planning Summer’s engagement party. She didn’t realize Phyllis was trying to be helpful. Phyllis smiled and said she had her moments. She offered Nikki coffee or tea, and she declined. Phyllis understood Nikki’s attitude – if her kid were in surgery, she’d be biting everyone’s head off too. Phyllis left, and Mariah came in.

Nikki told Mariah that she could’ve stayed at work and someone would’ve called her with updates. Mariah wanted to be at the hospital for Faith. She was grateful to Nick for dragging Adam back to town. Nikki clarified that Adam came here willingly. She said the ceiling caved in on Adam and Nick, and Nick got hurt. Adam could’ve fled, but instead, he got Nick help. She said Adam kept his promise. Mariah said she’d hold off on the thank you gifts for now. She offered to get Nikki something. Nikki thought she should be making that offer – Mariah was worried for her sister and doing this miraculous thing for Abby. Mariah thought it was no big deal, but Nikki said she wouldn’t let Mariah downplay this – family was too important. Mariah said that she grew up not knowing what a family was like, but she got a crash course over the past few years – all these people who were nothing like you, while also being exactly like you, who were there for you and who loved you when you didn’t feel deserving. But it also came with scary moments, like what ifs. Nikki said all the what ifs were usually much worse than what would really happened.

Nick went to Faith’s room and asked Sharon where Rey went. Rey only told Sharon that he had something to do. Nate walked in and announced that the surgery was still in progress and going smoothly. Nick and Sharon appreciated the update. Nate left. Sharon thanked Nick again for getting Faith a kidney. He thought Adam deserved most of the credit. She thought they owed Adam a huge debt. Sharon asked if Nick was curious about Rey leaving because he was plotting Adam’s escape. He said he was just wondering why Rey left. She said that Rey had cops all over the hospital. He noticed. She clarified that there were undercover cops too, in case Adam tried to make a move or someone tried to help him escape. She said the last thing Faith needed was to have her father in jail. He assured her he actually had something else in mind.

Sharon wanted to know Nick’s plan, because back at the house, Adam seemed set on disappearing. Nick glanced around to make sure no one was listening. He had a plan that he hadn’t discussed with Adam yet, but he hoped Adam would hear him out or at least compromise. Sharon was surprised to hear him talk about Adam like this. When Nick and Adam were in the storm cellar, he thought he saw a glimpse of that goodness Sharon always said was inside Adam. Later, Sharon was alone. She decorated the walls of Faith’s room with get well cards. Nick and Nate returned. The surgery went perfectly. Nate said the transplant surgeons Victor flew in were some of the best he’d ever seen. Now they would wait and see if Faith’s body accepted the organ. Nick asked how Adam was. He was also fine. Sharon was glad. Nick said he was too, after everything Adam did for Faith. Sharon asked when they could see Faith. Nate said she’d be back in her room after the anesthesia wore off. Nate went to check Faith and Adam. Sharon told Nick that their little girl was a fighter.

Nate went to the waiting room and delivered the news to Faith’s relieved loved ones, then he left. Nikki was delighted to be able to call everyone and tell them Faith would be okay. As a gesture, she asked Phyllis if she wanted to be the one to call Noah. Phyllis said she’d call him right after she called Summer. Nikki finished a call with Victoria and told her that Faith loved Johnny and Katie’s cards. Nikki wanted to see Victoria. Phyllis called Summer with the news, and she asked if the two of them could have dinner. Mariah asked Phyllis how Summer was. Phyllis said she was fine. Phyllis was glad things went well for Faith. This was tough on her because she remembered bargaining with God when Summer’s life hang in the balance. She explained that Summer went into anaphylactic shock when she was little. Phyllis had been terrified. Now Summer’s little sister was in this same hospital, but everything was good now. Mariah was so sorry. Motherhood was a tough gig, Mariah said. Phyllis brought up Mariah’s pregnancy. Mariah said she was just the surrogate. Phyllis was sure that Mariah would have protective feelings over the child that wouldn’t go away. Mariah wanted to focus on the here and now and count their blessings.

Nate checked on Adam. He felt like someone dropped a house on him. Nate offered him something for the pain, but Adam didn’t want Nate to worry about him now. He asked how Faith was. Nate brought him up to speed. Adam tried to sit up and couldn’t. Nate said it’d be a day or two before Adam was strong enough to leave. Adam said Rey had the place surrounded. Nate told Adam to relax and not to get any bright ideas about escaping. Nate didn’t know what was waiting for Adam on the other side, but what he did for his niece was life-changing for her and maybe for him too. Nate hoped this could be a second chance for Adam and Faith. Nate left.

Rey was at the ranch at Victor’s request. He asked that they make it quick because he wanted to get back to the hospital. Chelsea seemed alarmed that Victor called Rey. She asked if this was a trap. She reminded him that he’d said there was a way for them to all win. She asked if that was a lie. Victor said he didn’t lie about anything. Chelsea began to regret what she’d done. Rey asked what was going on. Victor said he was trying to convince Chelsea to tell the truth. She yelled that Victor had dragged her son into this. Victor stated that Chelsea was falling apart, so he’d already called a doctor. Chelsea screamed that she needed protection from Victor and Adam, not a doctor. Rey asked if Adam did something. Chelsea said Adam hated her, but it wasn’t her fault. She apologized profusely, and Rey asked if she was trying to confess to something.

Chelsea used her cane to aid her in walking over to a chair. She looked distraught, and she didn’t think Rey would try and help her after what she did. He asked what she did. She threw the cane down, then she got up and showed that she could walk unassisted. She said that she wasn’t a bad person, and she was relieved he was okay, because they were innocent victims in all this. Speaking rapidly, she said she wanted to teach Adam and Sharon a lesson. She wanted Sharon to know what it felt like to be on the brink of losing the man she loved. She swore she didn’t give him enough poison to kill him. She wished she could erase it. She was pushed to the edge, and she was sorry. She and Adam really were planning to leave town before she had her stroke. After the stroke, she couldn’t move or cry out. She said Adam turned to Sharon – he brought her into Chelsea’s home. She asked if he had any idea what it felt like to live with and love someone who was obsessed with someone else. She railed about the way Sharon and Adam would look at each other. She thought they were stealing kisses when she couldn’t see them. She accused Sharon and Adam of having an affair – sleeping in the bed Chelsea and Adam once shared.

Rey asked Chelsea how she knew Sharon and Adam slept together. Her only proof was the way Sharon and Adam looked at each other. Michael arrived around the same time that a doctor did. Victor introduced Dr. Hedges to Michael and Rey. Dr. Hedges asked Chelsea why she was feeling so upset. Chelsea said Victor scared her. Victor stepped away to call the hospital. Chelsea said Victor wanted to make her disappear. Michael asked Rey how long Chelsea had been like this. He said she’d been spiraling out little by little, since he got here. Michael was glad Rey called him. Rey said Chelsea confessed to the poisoning. Michael didn’t think they could get an official statement while Chelsea was in this state without a lawyer present. Chelsea jumped up and complained about the way Rey and Michael were looking at her and judging her. She asked if they had any idea what Adam pushed her to do. Dr. Hedges asked what happened. She said her fiance betrayed her, and his infidelity pushed motivated her to get out of her wheelchair. She said she was paralyzed because of Adam. She cried that she loved Adam with her whole heart, and it wasn’t enough, because she wasn’t Sharon. She wasn’t scared of the police or the DA. She thought they should give her a medal because she did what they couldn’t do. “I put together the evidence to set Adam up for attempted murder,” she exclaimed. She used to sit in the chair dreaming of being able to move, walk and talk, and she did. She’d felt almost invisible in the chair, because people looked right through her. That was why she was able to keep her recovery a secret. Little by little, she got stronger, and she made a plan. Rey asked how Chelsea did it. She said she sneaked out when Adam was sleeping. She used a ride share app. Her mom taught her to pick locks at an early age. She got inside Sharon’s, and she saw the trashy figurine and tray Adam gave her. She stole them to hide them in Adam’s car. Then she went upstairs and put the thallium in Rey’s body wash, hair gel and shaving cream. Michael whispered to Rey that this information was never made public. Chelsea said she only put enough in there to make Rey’s sick – she wasn’t trying to kill him. She said that proved she wasn’t crazy. She felt like they thought she was crazy, and she was agitated by the way they were looking at her. She cried that they wanted to hurt her. She said Adam changed people and made them do things they wouldn’t normally do. “This is Adam’s fault!,” she insisted. She pushed a chair over and screamed that she wasn’t this person. Dr. Hedges spoke in a sympathetic tone, and he prepared a syringe to help her calm down, while she begged him not to.

Victor was back, and he asked if sedation was necessary. Dr. Hedges believed it was, since Chelsea confessed to being a danger to others and she was spiraling out of control. Michael asked for a preliminary diagnosis. Dr. Hedges thought it might be post-stroke psychosis, a rare outcome. Rey said they had good reason to believe Chelsea was guilty of the crime she confessed to. Rey asked if it was safe to arrest her. Dr. Hedges thought Chelsea should go to a psychiatric hospital for the time being. Victor thought Chelsea should be locked up for the rest of her life, but he didn’t think Chelsea was in the shape to spend time behind bars now. Michael had no objection as long as the DA’s office received an official evaluation of Chelsea’s mental health. Victor asked if Adam was free. Rey said that Chelsea confessed and knew details they withheld from the press, so he thought she was guilty. Michael said Adam was a free man.

Victor was glad Rey finally accepted the truth. Rey said the evidence pointed to Adam and all he had was Victor and Sharon’s word that Adam was innocent. Rey was shocked by Chelsea. Chelsea was sleeping on the couch. Victor thought it was a tragedy that his grandson’s mother was pushed to the brink. Dr. Hedges got Chelsea a room. Rey went to make arrangements to take Chelsea to the hospital. Chelsea was now alone with Victor and the doctor. Victor and Dr. Hedges shared a conspiratorial look, then Chelsea opened her eyes and stopped pretending to be sedated. She and Victor looked at each other and they seemed pleased with themselves.

Back at Memorial, Nick and Sharon visited Faith. He wanted to wake their daughter up to check on her, but Sharon thought they should let Faith rest. Sharon said she had to go call Rey, so she stepped out. She left a message letting him know that Faith and Adam were out of surgery. Nick called Sharon back into the room. Faith was awake, and she asked how things went. Nick said everyone was extremely optimistic. Faith asked when she could go home. Sharon wanted Faith to just rest for now. Mariah came in while Faith was sleeping.

Nick went went to visit Adam. Nick noted that this might be the last appreciative thing he said to Adam. He thanked him for saving Faith’s life. Adam asked if Nick saw Faith. Nick said he just came from her room. The surgery was successful, thanks to Adam. Adam asked what happened next. Nick said that depended on Adam.
