Rey, Adam and Nick were at the cottage. An annoyed Rey brought up what happened the last time Adam sneaked into the cottage. Adam said he didn’t poison Rey, it was Chelsea. He contended that Chelsea was jealous for no reason, because he’d been committed to her. Rey shot back that Adam kissed Sharon. Adam apologized. Nick put a stop to the conversation, as Adam had somewhere to be. Adam hoped Rey would focus on his love for Sharon and Faith and forget about the problems Adam caused in Rey’s marriage. Adam thought what mattered was that Sharon wanted to be with Rey. Rey vowed to arrest Adam for attempted murder after the surgery. Adam expected nothing less.

Sutton visited Amanda at her place. He was glad she accepted his lunch invitation over the weekend. She enjoyed meeting his family. He corrected her, and she said “our family.” She still wasn’t used to saying that. He wanted her to get used to it because their family was a close knit bunch. He explained that he’d tabled discussion of the case over lunch because he wanted her to feel that she was there as his granddaughter, not his lawyer. She’d felt accepted, like she was one step closer to being part of the family. Amanda was charmed by Sutton’s stately home. He knew it was too big for one person, but the house held memories of his late wife. She enjoyed hearing some of those memories and looking through the photo album. He’d made copies, and he gave them to her. She flipped through them and he told her about the people in them. He’d included a picture of her great great aunt Florence, because his son in law Eric noticed a strong resemblance between her and Amanda. Amanda saw it too. Sutton said he and Naya thought it was uncanny. Eric wanted Sutton to tell Amanda how much he enjoyed meeting her. She appreciated that, since she wasn’t sure how he’d feel about her. Sutton was sorry that Imani didn’t join them, but he was sure she’d come around, because he wouldn’t accept anything else.

Amanda told Sutton that Michael was offering a potential sentence of twenty years. Sutton balked – at his age that was a life sentence. Amanda said they were willing to cut it in half for good behavior. Sutton said he wouldn’t take that deal if he was guilty, which he wasn’t. Amanda said she’d turned Michael down already. She was confident they could get a better deal. Sutton refused to plead guilty to any charges under any circumstances. She got where he was coming from, but she thought they should evaluate the evidence before issuing a blanket refusal.

Amanda said the state’s position was that Sutton had someone tamper with Richard’s brakes after he threatened to expose a bribery scheme with Newman. There were records of Richard calling Sutton’s campaign office. Sutton countered that the campaign office was busy – Richard could’ve talked to anyone about anything. He insisted that Richard never talked with him. He believed the charges were politically motivated – certain people didn’t want him to run again, and when he wouldn’t roll over, he conveniently ended up in the center of a made up scandal. She thought they should focus on the prosecution’s case. She asked if he talked to Richard when he found out Naya was pregnant. Sutton said Naya didn’t want Richard to know she was pregnant, and neither did Sutton. He wasn’t sure that Richard ever knew about the pregnancy. Amanda wanted to assume, for the moment, that Richard did know. Sutton said Naya wasn’t comfortable talking to her father about her ex who put her in this predicament. He said Naya complained about Richard being a little self-centered which wasn’t unusual for an ambitious young man. Amanda thought that fit with her theory that Richard tried to exploit the situation for financial gain. She asked if Sutton knew Richard worked at Newman. Sutton didn’t keep tabs on Richard, he was just glad Richard was out of Naya’s life. Amanda decided to talk to Naya about who Richard was. Sutton was sure Amanda was interested in that for reasons beyond the case. She said that was true, but Sutton’s case was her biggest concern right now. He said that was why he was comfortable leaving his future in her hands. She appreciated his confidence in her. He left.

Moses came home on his lunch break. He told Devon that they found a donor for Faith, and he wanted to be there when she got out of surgery. Devon permitted it, and he called Walnut Grove and signed Moses out for the rest of the day. He told Moses to make sure he got his work done. Moses would do it while Faith was sleeping after surgery. Devon asked if Moses and Faith were dating. Moses said Devon was so close to being cool, now he just sounded like Moses’ mom. Devon laughed – he didn’t want that.

Back at the hotel, Sutton ran into Imani in the lobby. He thought it was bad enough that she blew off the lunch he arranged for Amanda – he didn’t want her to antagonize Amanda any further. She found it fascinating that he was already protective of Amanda. He expected the family to be grateful that Amanda was trying to help. Devon saw Imani and Sutton talking, but he was out of earshot. He texted Amanda a heads up.

Upstairs, Amanda told Imani that she just missed their grandfather. Imani said she ran into Sutton on her way up. Amanda scoffed when Imani said she was there to apologize. It was clear to Imani that Amanda had the family’s best interest at heart, and she wanted to start fresh. Amanda didn’t believe a word of that. Imani admitted she earned Amanda’s scorn. Amanda brought up the restraining order and Imani’s hostility, warning her not to take Sutton’s case. Even this weekend, Imani boycotted a family gathering because Amanda would be there. Imani said her parents sat her down for a talk, and they shot down every argument she made. She’d worried about how her father would react to the news that her mother had children out of wedlock, but he was handling it fine, and he was impressed with Amanda. Imani said her father pointed out that Amanda would’ve gone public with her story or refused to help Sutton if she were a vengeful person or looking to exploit them. Imani admitted Amanda was right earlier when she accused her of being insecure. Imani said she’d been irrational and juvenile, and she wanted to make it up to Amanda. She offered to help with the case so she could get to know Amanda. Amanda asked if Imani was a lawyer or paralegal. Imani wasn’t officially, but she gave her grandfather legal advice. She graduated from law school, but she never got around to taking the bar exam. Amanda had to think about the offer, but she appreciated the gesture and apology. Imani said she’d be in touch. Devon arrived after Imani left. He said he saw some intense body language between Sutton and Imani, like they were conspiring together. Amanda told Devon about her conversation with Imani. Amanda suspected Sutton had a lot more to do with Imani’s turnaround than Naya or Eric. She was inclined to accept Imani’s offer for help, just to find out what was going on with her. She was convinced there was more to it than met the eye.

At the hospital, Faith was skeptical when Sharon said she didn’t have to worry about Adam backing out. Faith said Adam hurt Rey, and now Rey was after him. Sharon spoke with Adam earlier, and she was positive he’d go through with this. Rey had promised not to do anything until the procedure was over. She said that Rey was once in this position, when Lola needed her liver transplant, and everyone was working together to make this happen for Faith. Nate came in and said Adam was compatible. Sharon cried tears of joy. Sharon finished a call from Mariah and passed on her love to Faith. Faith admitted she’d been awful to Sharon. Sharon said she’d saw some awful things to her own mom too when she was a young girl. Faith wanted to write letters to people, just in case something went wrong. Sharon promised that the surgeon Victor brought in was the best and that everything would be just fine. She said Faith would be able to tell everyone how she felt in person. Nick showed up and told Faith he had a new batch of dad jokes. He fired one off, and Sharon smiled, but Faith didn’t think it was funny. She was sorry he had to hunt down Adam, who wasn’t his favorite person. Nick said Adam went up a few notches since he agreed to help Faith. Faith asked if she could talk to Adam.

At the ranch, Victor and Nikki were relieved to hear Adam was a match. They were going to go to the hospital to see Faith when Chelsea walked in, using a cane and limping to sell her act. She demanded to talk to Victor alone. Nikki protested, but Victor said it was alright, so she left. Chelsea asked where Connor was. He told her to calm down. She said she’d calm down when she knew her son was safe. He asked why she thought he wasn’t safe. Connor hadn’t answered any of her texts, and she knew Victor threatened to take him away. She knew what Victor was capable of – he had the same vindictive heartless streak as his son, and she wouldn’t underestimate him the way she underestimated Adam. He was glad she was taking him seriously, but he asked if she thought he’d harm his grandson. She said Adam harmed the mother of his child – he’d had her kidnapped, and she was drugged. She didn’t know what would’ve happened if she didn’t escape. He stated that she was getting payback, but he asked how he’d explain to Connor that he missed out on all those years with his father after he grew up. She said she wasn’t going to confess and let him pin Adam’s crimes on her. He stated that he wanted the truth to come out. He told her that she had to come clean, or she’d lose the chance to raise his grandson. She argued that if she confessed, she’d go to jail and Adam would raise Connor. There was no way for her to win. He told her that he’d arrange for all of them to win. He said she had a choice to make – it wasn’t whether the truth came out but how. He said if she didn’t confess, he’d dig for evidence to bury her. She insisted there was nothing for him to find. He wondered if Chloe would agree – he noted that Chloe had children, and she didn’t want to lose them and go to prison. She called him a bastard. He said he could be her ally or enemy, the choice was hers.

In the waiting room, Rey glared at Adam while he filled out his intake form. Adam said Rey could sit down – he wasn’t going to run off. If Adam didn’t know better, he’d think Rey was sorry he came back. Adam said Rey was getting what he wanted, Faith would recover, Sharon would be happy, and Adam would go to prison. He wondered if Rey liked it better when he was a fugitive, because that gave him a quest. He asked if that was why Rey didn’t track him down in Kansas, like Nick did. Rey stated that Nick had help. Adam was sure that if Rey had pressed the issue, Sharon would’ve helped him, just as she did when she told Rey that Adam was at the lake house. Adam said Sharon adored Rey, and she’d do anything for him. Rey ordered Adam to shut up and finish the forms. Adam said his trial would make him the center of attention, and since Sharon knew he wasn’t guilty, she’d feel bad for him, which would bug Rey. He thought that was why it was better for Rey when he was on the run. Adam offered to go underground, and Rey rejected the offer. Adam said it was worth a shot, but it was miserable living in exile. Sharon came and got Adam for Faith.

Faith thanked Adam for bringing her to the hospital after the crash, and she appreciated what he was doing for her now. He felt she’d always been frank and honest, and he didn’t want that to stop now. He said they both knew this didn’t make up for what he put her and her parents through, starting from when he took her from her parents. He understood now, in a way he didn’t before, how things from childhood affect people over the years. He said her life had been harder because of him, and that wasn’t his intention. That was why he wasn’t comfortable with her thanking him – it wasn’t a gift or grand gesture. He would be grateful if she’d accept his kidney as an apology. She said she could do that. Sharon smiled, but Nick didn’t. Rey was looking in through the window, and he saw Sharon’s smile.

In the waiting room, Nick told Nikki that Faith had already gone to get prepped for surgery. Nick said Faith asked to see Adam and it went well. Nick thought Adam was doing this for the right reasons, and Faith understood that. Nikki was concerned that Nick wasn’t eating enough. She told him his body was trying to heal, and he couldn’t neglect himself. He said he was fine. She wanted to bring him some soup, but he didn’t have an appetite. Phyllis texted Nick that she was in the parking lot. Nikki wanted to see Sharon, but Nick said she was with Rey. Nikki decided not to disturb them.

In Faith’s room, Sharon was glad Rey was there, though she knew it was more about making sure Adam didn’t escape. He said he went to visit Sharon and saw Adam at the house. Sharon said that wasn’t her idea – Nick brought Adam over because he wanted to talk about the surgery. Rey put his hands on his hips and noted that Sharon talked to Adam this morning. Sharon said she wanted to thank Adam for helping Faith. She also wanted to thank Rey for allowing Adam to be Faith’s donor. He said that Faith was the priority; there would be plenty of time to arrest Adam after the surgery. He asked if she’d been hoping he’d let Adam go. She said she told Adam to turn himself in so he could clear his name. She said she’d never tell Rey how to do her job. He thought that was wise, since she couldn’t be objective when it came to Adam, not when he was saving Faith’s life twice in less than a month. She said if she seemed startled he was arresting Adam, it was because Rey admitted he had his own doubts. He said, his personal opinions aside, Adam was the prime suspect, and he was a flight risk. She asked what happened once Adam was in jail and once Faith was out of surgery. Did he want to be her husband? Was there any hope? He said she was exhausted, and they were waiting to see how Faith’s surgery went, so they shouldn’t discuss this now. Victor called and summoned Rey to the house. Rey said not possible – he was with Sharon, and he had to arrest Adam once he was out of surgery. Victor said the transplant would take hours, and it’d take a long time for Adam to come out of anesthesia. Victor said something happened with Chelsea that would change everything.

Phyllis and Nick went to the waiting room. She mentioned all the cops she saw blanketing the hospital to make sure Adam didn’t escape. Nikki brought Nick some soup anyway, then she coolly said hello to Phyllis. Nikki left, and Phyllis asked if Nick was in pain. He said he was fine. All he wanted to think about was Faith. She said he performed a miracle by getting Adam to give up his freedom and kidney for Faith. She said doctors did this surgery all the time, and it was usually successful. She asked how he got Adam to agree to this.
