Nick was at his parents house, and they were relieved he was okay after the ceiling collapsed on him. Victor was impressed Nick pulled this off. Nikki asked if he was in pain. He was fine – his leg had been stitched up. He thought the important thing was that Adam agreed to donate a kidney to Faith. Victor wondered how Nick convinced Adam to do it, and Nick said it wasn’t easy. He said he appealed to Adam as a father, and they bonded over being parents. He said Adam really missed his son. He’d also promised Adam that he wouldn’t get arrested and that he’d help him escape. Victor thought they should fly Faith and Adam to a private clinic where no one would ask questions. Nick and Nikki were concerned that was too risky for Faith. Nikki added that they didn’t know if Adam was a viable candidate. They were still waiting for the test results. Victor thought they should have a plan in place. Nick agreed, but he wasn’t going to take chances when it came to Faith’s house, not for Adam or anyone else. Victor agreed that Faith was the priority. Nick needed Victor to trust him, like Adam had. Victor did trust Nick, but he wondered if they could trust the doctor doing the operation. Nikki said Nate was a good man who’d been there for more than one Newman crisis. Victor said that was the point – he’d asked Nate to cross the line before; would he do it again? Nick recalled that Nate almost lost his license for helping Victor fake his death in order to get Adam to admit to changing his meds, and when Adam confessed, Victor let him off the hook and welcomed the prodigal psychopath. “If you feel that way about him then why are we even doing this?,” Victor asked. Nick was just stating the facts – he needed Adam now, but he had no illusions about who Adam was. Victor had assumed Nick changed his mind about Adam. Nick conceded he saw a different side to Adam in Kansas, but he wasn’t sure Adam changed forever. Nick wasn’t ready to forgive, and he might not ever be. Nikki reminded them that this was about Faith, and Nate had been with her every step of the way. She trusted Nate, and so did Victor and Nick. She didn’t think he’d jeopardize Faith’s health or future because Adam was a fugitive. She’d accept it if Nate didn’t want to be involved, but she thought they should give him a chance.
Nate arrived at the ranch, and the Newmans filled him in. Nick knew they were asking a lot, but no matter how Nate felt about the rest of the Newmans, Faith was innocent. Nikki asked if Nate could help give her granddaughter a chance at a normal life. Victor said the plan was to get Adam in and out of the hospital without alerting the authorities. Nick said he promised to help Adam avoid arrest if he helped Faith. Nate knew that if he were Faith’s father he would’ve made the same promise. Nate said he was a doctor, not an officer of the law. He’d let others deal with the legalities after the fact. The Newmans expressed gratitude, and Nate left. Victor told Nikki she was right about Nate. Nick was worried because Nate’s career and Faith’s life were in the hands of his wildcard brother.
After Nick left, Victor told Nikki to go be with Faith. She decided to go later, since Faith was resting. She’d rather be there for Victor right now. He claimed he was fine. She knew he wanted to come to Adam’s rescue, but no matter how well he planned Adam’s escape, something could go wrong. He said if the person who poisoned Rey confessed, he wouldn’t have to arrange Adam’s escape. Nikki didn’t think Chelsea would develop a conscience, but Victor thought he had a way to convince her. Nikki asked why Adam would run, if he was innocent. Victor said Adam knew Chelsea was a con artist who fooled everyone. He thought the only person that Chelsea had ever been committed to was Connor. She asked if he was going to drag his grandson into this. He vowed to do everything to protect Connor, including keeping him out of the clutches of his unhinged mother.
Sharon went home looking for Nick, and she found Adam waiting inside for her. She asked what he would’ve done if Rey walked in instead of her. He said he would’ve ducked out the back door. He needed to have a moment alone with her before they put their plan into motion. He said Nick was with Victor and Nikki working out the details of getting him in and out of the hospital without the police finding out. Sharon couldn’t thank Adam enough – he was putting himself at risk, for the second time, for her little girl. He was glad to help Faith, but he wasn’t just doing it for her, he was also doing it for Sharon. She didn’t want to talk about this now, but he needed to say this while it was just the two of them. He didn’t know when that would happen again. When he was trapped with Nick, he had a chance to think, and he realized that she was part of him and always would be. No matter how far away he ran, she’d always be with him, and the fact that he was standing her now was proof of that. She said he was only here for Faith. He noted that Nick was only able to find him because of Sharon’s insight into Adam. He said she’d always understood how his mind work, when he forgot who he was in Vegas, and when he found out what he did to AJ, she could see him. He thought she saw him the way no one else could, not even Chelsea. He knew nothing could come of it, though. He promised he was going to leave for good, as soon as Faith had her kidney and he was well enough to travel, that is if Nick let him get away. Sharon guaranteed Adam could trust Nick’s word. She said Nick and Rey were honorable men. He assured her he’d be out of her life for good, she’d be free of him, and she and Rey could live their life. Her expression made him wonder if that was what she wanted. He asked if Rey was upset that Faith would be carrying around a part of Adam for the rest of her life. She hadn’t thought of it like that. He was sure Rey had. She shifted gears and said they had to come up with a plan to get him to the hospital, assuming the lab results said he was a viable donor.
Nick went to the cottage and asked where Adam was. Sharon said he was in the shower. She assured him that Adam was fully committed to this. She marveled that he fought a tornado, Adam and injury all for their daughter. He let her know Nate was on board. He told her the plan to slip Adam out of town after he was well enough to travel. She told him that she’d informed Rey that Adam was the potential donor. She said he promised not to stand in the way of Faith’s operation, but he planned to arrest Adam afterward. Nick said they’d worry about that later. He thought she should go tell Faith the good news and prepare her for what was coming. She thanked him for tracking Adam down. He said he’d do anything for their girl. She was sure it wasn’t easy for him to convince Adam to come. He stated that nothing was easy when Adam was concerned, and Sharon said especially when he thought Adam was guilty.
Sharon went to the hospital and brought a drowsy Faith up to speed. She mentioned that Victor had hired the best transplant team in the country, so Faith would be fine. Faith’s eyelids drooped, and she didn’t answer. Nate came in, and he told Faith that surgery could be scary, but it was also a miracle of nature. It was what made him want to be a surgeon in the first place. Faith wished he was doing the surgery. He did too, but he reminded her of his injury. She wished that she was getting someone else’s kidney, anyone other than Adam. Nate said no matter what else Adam did, this was a good thing he’d offered to do – it was something everyone prayed for. He thought she was lucky to have so much love surrounding her. Sharon felt they were the lucky ones to have Faith in their lives. Nate said the surgeon and anesthesiologist would come walk Faith through pre-op, and he’d come back later to tell her about post-op. He left. Sharon knew it was strange that Adam was the donor, but like Nate said, this was a good thing. “Adam doesn’t do good things. He lies and he hurts people,” Faith stated. She worried he was tricking them. Sharon said Adam chose to come back, at great risk to himself because he wanted to help Faith. Faith was concerned he was only pretending he wanted to help, as part of a sick game, or that he’d get scared and ran off, or that Rey would arrest him before the surgery.
Billy went to Lily’s office. She wasn’t inside, but she left a note for him sending him on a treasure hunt. It promised him pure pleasure if he followed the rules. He followed the riddles to his suite, where another puzzle was waiting for him. He took the note to Crimson Lights, where he ran into Rey. He confided to Rey that Nick went to get Adam, because he was Faith’s only hope. He said that Rey’s suspect could fall right into his lap. Billy assumed Rey already knew this, though. Rey couldn’t comment on an open investigation. Billy said he’d promised not to say anything about this either, because he didn’t want to ruin Faith’s chances of getting the help she needed. Rey asked why Billy brought it up, then. Billy felt that Rey was already in the loop, so it was okay to speak freely about it. Billy stated that they were all worried about Faith, but he thought Adam would use any opportunity to get off the hook for poisoning Rey, and he didn’t want that to happen. Rey asked what Billy was planning to do about it.
Billy promised he’d keep his mouth shut and do everything he could to keep this out of the public, but he didn’t want to see Adam walk again. He asked if there was anything he or his powerful media company could do to make sure Adam paid. Rey asked what Lily thought about Billy using the company to go after Adam again. Billy said that this was his story, and Lily wasn’t interested. Rey recalled that Lily fought like hell to clear Billy, and she told Rey how Billy let go of his past with Adam. Billy called Lily amazing – he told Rey about the romantic treasure hunt. He reiterated that he wanted to make sure Adam got what was coming to him. Rey assured Billy that he was highly motivated to make sure justice was done. He told Billy to leave Adam to the police, because Adam was like a black hole, dragging in everything that came close. Rey told Billy not to let Adam do that to him again – don’t let him create a problem there might be no coming back from.
Billy found his treasure at Society. Lily was waiting for him, and she’d rented the restaurant for the night. He asked what brought on the night of mystery and romance. She wanted to repay him for the New Orleans themed night. He felt she’d already done that. “Okay maybe I needed a special night. Do you have a problem with that?,” she asked, with a smile. He could never have a problem with the woman who defended him, stood by him and made him a better man. He was living his best life when he was with her. They danced, then they had champagne. He admitted he was disappointed when he followed the clue to his suite and she wasn’t inside. It felt empty, and it made him thin of how empty his life would be without her in it. He’d been fantasizing about coming home to her, and he asked what she thought about getting a place together. She thought it was one of the best ideas he’d ever had.
Back at the cottage, Nick rubbed his injured leg and took some pain medication. Rey walked in. “Hey, Rey,” Nick said, deliberately raising his voice. Rey heard Nick went after Adam, and given that he was Faith’s only option, he couldn’t imagine Nick came back without him. Adam was standing at the top of the stairs, listening in. Nick was glad Rey understood how important the surgery was. Rey had no intention of standing in the way, but he warned Nick not to help Adam escape after the surgery. That was aiding and abetting. The only thing Nick cared about was Faith, and after that, Rey could do whatever he wanted. Nick wanted Rey to promise not to do anything until the operation was over. Rey gave his word, and Adam walked downstairs.
At the penthouse, Chelsea was angry that Chloe told her to calm down. She asked if Chloe would be calm if Victor threatened to take away Bella and Miles. Chelsea said if she didn’t confess to poisoning Rey, Victor would go after custody of Connor. She couldn’t lose her son. Chloe didn’t think Chelsea could confess, because she’d go to prison and lose Connor anyway. Chelsea had called Connor earlier, and he didn’t get back to her yet. She panicked wondering if Victor already took Connor. Chloe said the school wouldn’t release him without Chelsea’s permission, even Adam couldn’t take him, because of the restraining order Chelsea got. Chelsea argued that they both knew what Victor was capable of. She couldn’t just sit here and wait for the worst to happen – she had to do something.
Chloe said that confessing was crazy. Chelsea said she had to do something, but Chloe was adamant that confessing wasn’t an option – if Chelsea came clean, she’d be outing Chloe as her accomplice. Chelsea decided to go get Connor and keep him as far away from Victor as possible. Chloe thought that was a better plan. Chelsea wasn’t sure she could outrun Victor. Chloe said Chelsea disappeared with Connor before, and she could do it again. Chloe said she’d help Chelsea escape as long as she stopped thinking about confessing. Chloe wanted Chelsea to agree that she was right, and she grew alarmed when Chelsea didn’t say anything.
